Why is it that WWE are making all these blunders?
bobobrazil1984 replied to The Mandarin's topic in The WWE Folder
It all goes down to their very mindset, their way of thinking. They base too much on presmises and ideas and not enough on execution. They really seem to have misinterpreted what worked and what didnt from their hot periods. All of this became more and more obvious since 2002 (well 2001 really, but I'd say 2002 was the first consistently bad year of the drop), and the past 2 years are just an extension of it. Its funny seeing the apologists and the "hhh isn't so bad crowd" and all the rest, keep saying almost word for word what people were sying in 2001... and in 2002... and in 2003... now in 2004. They think what they are doing is good, no matter what. It's all about their way of thinking, and short of alien brainwashing, there really isn't anything one can do except hope that they luck onto a big mainstream angle, and hope that HHH doesn't insert himself in it, and hope they don't fuck it up like they do everything. or to somehow purge WWE of Stephanie, HHH, Vince, JR, Gewertz, and everybody else who's a part of this decision making process, and what are the odds of that many people somehow leaving the company? zilch. -

American TV stations boycott showing of:

I heard that ABC's contract for Schindler's List specifies that they cannot edit the film (which means no blanking/editing out swear words). Knowing the FCC nowadays, I can understand it. edit: err I shoulda read the article more carefully. It says right there, no editing. -
I just finished watching it! Awesome awesome awesome!!!! SAYID!!! SAWYER!! SAYID!!! SAWYER!!!! Holy shitttt!!! Sawyer and Jack! Sawyer and Sayid!!! Love square with Jack, Kate, Saywer and Sayid! I'm trying to process who was more badass, Sayid or Sawyer. On one hand, Sawyer nailed a married chick, and got Kate to kiss him. That's pretty badass. But on the other hand... SAYID TORTURED Sawyer!!! Holy shit! I swear, if Sayid and Sawyer ever decided to team up... they would OWN the island! OWN IT! And make everyone their bitches!!! And take turns with kate!!!!!!

I didn't even know any TNA was on tonight. I've only watched it once and was unimpressed, but I'll give it another shot tonight, just out of spite to the Shit that is WWE programming. Switch between TNA and NBA bball on TNT. -
^ followed by Artset suddenly jacking up a three from way behind the arc? Ron Artest = Pistons E.C. Finals MVP!
-
Ron ARtest's record label website: http://www.truwarier.com/ I'm looking around in the audio section, there arent really any of *his* raps up yet, just some small clips where he's talking, and one c"rap" that "Features" him.
-
A MONTH off! During an NBA Season! On one of the TOP CHAMPIONSHIP CONTENDERS IN THE LEAGUE!!! Bahahaahahaha! I'm starting to think Artest is actually an undercover Pistons agent. It would explain a lot.
-
^ well maybe this seaoson they'll be SO bad that they'll be good (like the Tigers were back in 2003), and them escaping "worst record ever" will be a big thing in of itself.
-
wow, I only tuned in with like 2 minutes left, but this has been an awesome 2 minutes

Holy crap! Anybody else watching Phoenix and Cleveland??? Lebron singlehandedly brings the Cavs back into it, with like 7 or 8 straight points.
-
^ psh. it was stupid mistakes by Detroit in the end of teh regulation that sent the game into OT in the first place. :-P regardless though, the Clippers were pretty good, I'll give em that. Speaking of INdiana, what exactly is the deal with Artest? I've tried reading a bunch of news articles about his benching and none of them seem to give a straight answer as to why. Injuries, fight, said something bad, personal matter, what????

Absolutely. It gets better. MUCH BETTER, it really takes off towards the end of Season 1 and never looks back, with a big arc storyline. There's the feeling that ANYTHING can happen, the show will take all kinds of twists, the kinda stuff you would never ever see a show like Star Trek do. It constantly takes cliche sci-fi storylines and give them a fresh spin. I'd give examples but I don't want to spoil anything for you, but I can say that if only looking at the first 4 episodes, there's no indication of how far the show will really go, but it WILL go far, occasionally off the deep end. Basically if you've ever looked at sci-fi shows and thought: "boooring" or "stale" or "sterile" or "lame looking aliens" or "why is everybody act like they have a stick up their ass," you'll love Farscape. Its the opposite of Trek, its a very creative, passionate series. If you're someone who is big into order and things being a set way, you might hate Farscape. If you're someone who thrives on creativity, and emotion, and trying new kinds of things, a visual person, I think you'll love Farscape. If you really enjoy technobabble and scientific explanations for everything, you might hate it. Sometimes Farscape goes too far, or gets a little too silly, or tries too hard to be 'wild and unpredictable', but even when it fails, it's always a SPECTACULAR failure, if that makes sense. It's never ever dull. It brings the EMOTION in spades. As a matter of fact... there it is. Many other sci-fi shows operate on Logic of some kind (maybe their storylines aren't "logical", but things are a certain way. People will only go so far. They react to situations by logic (because I guess in the future people don't really have emotions, i dont know)... Farscpae is all about Emotion over logic. It's character storylines have emotional resonance. Crichton/Aeryn is the one of the only sci-fi romances that's ever felt... COOL, rather than mushy or sappy. Oh yeah, and the series is more action oriented than other sci-fi shows, but it always feels right rather than gratuitious, like it's channelling the spirit of Luke/Han blasting away at stormtroopers in the halls of the Death Star or Cloud City. As a matter of fact, imo Farscape at its best (just wait till you hit the season 2 trilogies) really channels the SPIRIT of the original SW trilogy like no other series (hell it channels the spirit better than SW Prequels). (in case you can't tell, I really love this series. It's my favorite sci-fi show ever)

No. Well, maybe a small amount, like Mad Dog said. the added benefit is it helps weed out the money hungry guys from the ones that love the game. Theoretically. College sports are like any other organization in colleges, except they are more popular.

Anyone catch the Pistons/Clippers game last night? It was a double OT thriller that went to like 1:30 or 2 AM on the east coast. Of course it really never should have gotten that far, but since the Pistons got the win, I'm happy to have enjoyed an edge of the seat thriller so early in the season. Detroit needs Larry Brown back though, they are good but sloppy. They need someone who will bitch a player out to hell when he makes a bad decision (like Chauncy jacking up a three before putting anything into motion, in the last minute of regulation).

^ Yeah really. The idea that ANYONE would say 'Charlie and the Chocloate Factory' wouldn't work as a 'dark comedy' is hilarious... The Book = dark comedy. The Book = very good, and unquestionably better than the Disney-ish syrupy un-faithful Gene Wilder movie. Hence, a movie, that is faithful to the book, with a good director who is perfectly suited to "dark comedies"... has quite a bit of chance of being good.
-
Has HHH gotten involved in the story yet? I read a few posts here and there, but I can't tell whether they're referencing stuff that happened or if they are sarcastic smark comments like mine. But if he hasn't gotten involved yet, he will.
-
Correct. I'm interested in seeing this film because of the supposed faithful adaptation of the book, rather than a remake of the film (those are generally the only cases when I approve of remakes... what can I say, I am a very big supporter of "Writer's Rights"). I actually vividly remember reading the book as a child, then renting the movie noticing how different the movie was from the book. Oh the overall plot was there but... there were just sooo many differences. ALthough I appreciate the Gene Wilder film now, I absolutely want to see a faithful adaptation of CHARLIE and the Choclate Factory. Especially in the modern age where we are seeing more faithful adaptations of books/stories, like Lord of the Rings, Spider-Man, Harry Potter, etc. "Charlie and the Chocolate" factory deserves it. The book is far more charming and interesting and tonal than the Gene Wilder movie. This is a very Tim Burton project, and I think he'll excel here, and Johnny Depp is inspired casting. The guy's excellent in practically everything he does. ...on the other hand we could have another 'Planet of the Apes' (a film which is a piece of withering turd compared to the classic POTA film).

I think he's trying to tip NH to the Bush column, just so he can actually have some effect on the election this year and not be a complete useless non-factor. In 2000, in some states his vote total was greater than the gap between Gore and Bush. This time.... not so much. He strikes me as rather egomaniacal. -

3 The Grudge $13,500,000/$89,580,000 Wow, 89 million? For a film that only cost 10 million to make... very big hit there. I liked it. -
