Is Dennis Miller getting his own show...
bobobrazil1984 replied to NoCalMike's topic in Current Events
I watched it on the first night, when Arnold was on (that was the firstn ight, right?) My god that was the most boring "political" show I ever saw. HIs news was like, a C-level version of the same political newsbyte humor segments we see all over the place, like daily show among others. -
Well considering where Dean is now, it's not as crazy as it sounds. Surprisingly, Dean is actually still in the lead in the Democratic race, he has more delegates than Kerry, which is what decides the nomination. I also agree with focusing on Michigan, it has more delgates than any of the Super Tuesday states. I however do not agree with what amounts to virtually ignoring the 7 Tuesday states. I think he should pick maybe 2 that are most vulnerable and pour money campaigning in those. Intersetingly, if Dean can win one high delegate state, solid 2nds in everythign else, and someone else can steal one high delegate state from Kerry, Dean might even still be in the lead once Michigan's primary ends. Are there many more 'superdelegates' left?? He should be targeting them

But will Eddie's fuck-ups elicit laughter at the comical visual nature of them the way Orton's did? Will it makes us all go ? That's the important part. Wrestling, thanks to WWE's incompetance from 2001, 2002, and 2003 have rendered wrestling discussion, and smark discussion to be really not that big a deal anymore.

Nobody has been a legit and consistent draw in 2002 or 2003. Not smark darlings and not smark mortal enemies.

Benoit sabotages his own push with a horrid promo

The problem is they're not really going to BOOK HIM THAT WAY! Oh they sort of will, in a strange half assed way, but Not Really. -
Benoit sabotages his own push with a horrid promo
bobobrazil1984 replied to a topic in The WWE Folder
It wasnt the best promo, and the fact is Benoit isn't a great promo guy. This is well known. Vince knows this. Now, if we have competant bookers, they can book to his strengths. Which is a) his work, and b) the whole determination angle. Also, I would have Benoit be a silent but violent killer type. I dont mean beatdowns, but I'm talking like 97 Austin type (minus the great promos). the type of guy who would beat Batista's ass, then hijack the ambulance and maim him in the back. or the type of person who would come out during a crappy Coach/Lawler segment and headbutt them both to hell, and give that vicious toothy grin he used to do after every beatdown. They can counter the heelish vibe by setting up situations wehre he's outnumbered, etc so his viciousness will sorta be justified. Of course to pull it off you need bookers/writers who don't suck. It was what I was afraid of when the Benoit push began: Standard Booking. It was why I never got too excited to begin with when i heard benoit was getting psuhed. It was the same problem I had last year with Booker/HHH and ANgle/Lesner for Wm19. Everything was booked completely by the numbers and through formula. If the writers/bookers are serious about a Benoit push, they have to Work At It. He is not teh Rock, or Austin, or HBK, or even HHH. Yes he was the least over in that ring last night, and that's not necessarily a knock. As far as I'm concerned it was his First Night as a true Main Eventer. Remember Brock Lesner back when he won KOTR? Remember all the bitching about his lack of heat? Lets not even comment on Orton right now... remember 1999 HHH around Summerslam when he first became a main eventer? They built them up, you cant expect a Rock and Austin every time*. The key here is how do they follow this up? Benoit obviously has the ring skills so its not like he's gonna be "exposed" in matches like some other people, so at this point its all about presentation. Benoit was presented as the same level as HBK and HHH. It'll take time, but this is very eerily similar to HHH in 1999. You need to continue presenting him at that level, booking him strong and to his strengths. Benoit has a good amount of support already so its not really an uphill battle, as long as Vince doesn't get cold feet, Benoit will be fine. It's harder when the guy isn't a good promo guy, no doubt, but it can be done. I can think of half a dozen ways in a minute. They have access to tons of WCW and I presume ECW footage. Someone with a little bit of creativity and vision could put together a 4 minute video on Benoit that would have the audience in frikken tears if they wanted to that would make him a true star. But they wont. Here's something else, since Benoit isn't a great promo guy, why would you script these Standard Promos for him!? Why not let Benoit say overly outrageous things like "HHH I'll make you tap like a little bitch!"?? "I wont just beat you, I'll break your goddamn neck!" but again, that veers out of Standard Booking and Standard Promos, so it would never happen But I'll tell you exactly what's going to happen. In one or two weeks, HBK v HHH on RAW. Benoit will sit at the commentator's table. HHH wins, Benoit stands up and they stare at each other. The next week, Benoit comes out alone, cuts a so-so promo that just goes through the cliches, no doubt involving a "I respect your accomplishments HHH" and the phrase "I'm gonna kick your ass" The next week, Evolution beats down Benoit. The next week Benoit fights Flair or Batista, is about to win, Evolution causes a DQ but benoit fights them off, then the final week HHH pedigrees Benoit to pin him a tag match. Completely Standard Booking. -
Well too bad for them. Their opinions are irrelevant... why? Well, are these people gonna suddenly, NOT vote for Bush?? Are they gonna vote for Dean? Yeah right! Lol!
-
Ok, first of all, those who say Benoit's quest isn't unfulfilled or damaged by being shipped to RAW dont know the first thing about basic storytelling. It would be like if towards the end of LOTR, after building Frodo up to go to Mordor, he gets shipped over to Isengard and he pushes Saruman out of a window killing him and then Return of the King ends. That being said, if booked well, it could be good, but I keep getting flashbacks of Jericho-2002 and Booker-2003. Everytime someone I like gets a WM push against HHH, it always ends up badly

I figure #2 will be a raw wrestler. Jericho? THE REUNION!

Of course when people do 'deal with it' by not buying PPVs or routinely missing WWE TV shows, it's the Iraq War that is the reason for it.

Well if someone is actually taking names for PMing the link... I would request a PM with a link also

Dean loses poll & endorsement after Hulking Up
bobobrazil1984 replied to Jobber of the Week's topic in Current Events
So here's Howard Dean's speech from the POV of... oh you know... the crowd who he was speaking to via handheld. http://webmastersforamerica.com/Idiom_Studio/Default.html Paints a bit of a different picture there. -
Written by the magnifico Charlie Kaufman, starring Jim Carrey, Kate Winslet, Elijah Wood There's a new trailer for this film... in various sizes and various formats http://movies.yahoo.com/movies/feature/ete...otlessmind.html Simple idea, quirky execution. Looks like Kaufman's got another winner on his hands!

^ yes. Because saying you want a politician who gets excited is exactly the same as saying you want ADOLF HITLER, a man who tried to exterminate an entire race.
-
audio clips = gay. This site has a video clip of Dean's speech, at least the first minute and a half or so, through his first states-run-through. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=index2&cid=1931 (the second option)

doesn't look half bad. I'm not really a fan of Kevin Smith normally. Also, the child actress, shockingly, doesn't suck (from what I see in the trailer).

^ Dude, you guys weren't kidding. I'm watching the replay of Scarborough Country right now... its scary how much of a facsimile it is. He's even got his dialect down to match O'Reilly's. but OH, his window caption was on the opposite side!!!

Interesting. I'd really like to get my hands (or my eyes via computer) on the Trippi memo.

I liked the "Al Keyda" ad

The One And Only 24 Season 3 Thread
bobobrazil1984 replied to Spicy McHaggis's topic in Television & Film
Good episode. Jack = badass as always. What Chase did with sealing up that gunshot, that was hardcore! And the Palmer subplot finally picked up. The Bitch is Back!!! However, the CTU "drama" continues to be crappy. The only way to salvage is if Chloe's baby has the virus and it infects everybody. -
Democrat presidential debate last night
bobobrazil1984 replied to kkktookmybabyaway's topic in Current Events
That was so ridiculous that even ANN FRIKKEN COULTER (author of the upcoming book, "Liberals killed Jesus and the Dinosaurs") sided with Dean on that one (during the Drudge radio show). Vermont has 1 to 2 percent african american population. To attack someone from that state for not having a black person in their cabinet is just stupid. What was he supposed to do, go hunt down the 11 black people in the ENTIRE STATE!? People are getting desperate. -
Um... as cool as it would be to have man on the moon and Mars... HOW THE FRELL DO WE PAY FOR THIS WITHOUT MAKING OUR GIGANTOR DEFECIT EVEN WORSE!?!?!?
-
They could have Benoit win the rumble, then on the next show somehow have Heyman DENY him the title shot even though he WON THE ROYAL RUMBLE. At which point Benoit lays the mother of all beatings on Heyman is prompty fired. Cue RAW, Austin brings in Benoit, and since Benoit won the Rumble he's the #1 contender to RAW title. Anyways whatever, you know if they do a Benoit push it will be booked horribly, with Benoit fetching Flair's lotion or something

Jim Carrey Top Money-Making Star of 2003
bobobrazil1984 replied to MrRant's topic in Television & Film
I guess we'll find out... his next film is a Charlie Kaufman script Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (or something to that effect). Elijah Wood's in it too. I thought he was pretty good in The Truman Show -
Bush Seeks New Rights for Foreign Workers

I'm curious, anyone nkow what kind of reaction this is getting from the right? It seems like the kind of thing they would at if it came from the left. It's always interesting to see things like this (politics can be fun and interesting as long as you're not around people too far left or too far right).
