the episode is up on Hulu.com right now if anyone missed. It appears that the only "commercial" is a short little blurb at the beginning, i havent noticed any ads while skipping through act breaks. Good stuff.

"Do you watch Battlestar Galactica?" "No..." "Then you're an idiot." -Dwight Schrute It's BAAA-AAAAACCKKK!!!! I am so supremely psyched. Starbuck returns! Cylons! All Along the Watchtower! Special Final five (4?) Cylons! I like the idea above about Tom Zarek being the final Cylon. It would be especially interesting if he maneuvered himself more into power then his programming kicked in.

If you like the angst in Whedon shows, shows like LOST, Heroes, The Wire, even the noirish parts of Veronica Mars, or ever imagined Babylon 5 with a budget and real polish and actually good actors. I honestly cannot see how you could not like BSG. It's that f'ing good. I rank it second to only The Wire as best on TV. Adama is one of the great quiet badasses of television. Just watch the video they posted there. Even Joss orgasms over this show. I agree with what the others said. Watch the mini-series, its the first disc of the Season 1 set i believe, just mosey on to blockbuster or netflix or whatever and start. If you're remotely into it watch the first two episodes, "33" and "Water". By then, you should know. Here's a cool promo they aired before Season 1. Not a bad representation of the tone: http://youtube.com/watch?v=jkzOt-hQsPA

I think things are starting to come together nicely I can already see a few past mysterious starting to make more sense. I'm not about to say anything earth-shattering that most hardcores haven't already put together, but here is basically my theory on what it all means: In "Meet Kevin Johnson", we saw the Island stop Michael from killing himself. If the writers are to believed, this also ties in to why Jack didn't commit suicide (the sudden car crash) in his flash-forward. It looks like this is probability based. The Island somehow reaches out it's "Island Hand" and skews the probabilities for its own purposes. My first thought was... this feels very similar to some of the weird stuff that happens on the Mainland involving Hurley/Numbers, as well as Juliet's ex-husband suddenly and conveniently being hit by the truck. So basically, I believe we have our explanation of the Numbers in here somewhere. The Numbers are basically the "Island Hand" doing it's thing and skewing probabilities. Maybe it's a footprint, or a carrier code for "Island Power" or maybe The Numbers are the Island Hand. But basically they are one in the same. We also know that Widmore is looking for the island, both before the crash and after it (Abbadon questioning Hurley and sending Naomi). It's assumed he set up the race around the world, with the "track" for the race going through the south pacific, hoping one of his racers will stumble upon it. I think Libby worked for Widmore, conveniently gave Desmond the boat for the race, and was watching Hurley at the mental institute - actually, my theory is she was watching Leonard, and transferred to Hurley later when he won the lottery and strange stuff started happening all around it, so that's why she was on the plane, following Hurley, trying to track the "Island's Hand." The big answer as to WHY the Island did this, why these people were on the plane, why it crashed, has sort of been revealed already: The Island is under attack and called for help, that's the grand motive and reason behind the crash, and the show as a whole. They were chosen to defend the Island. For reasons that are still a mystery to me, it picked these people and started using the Island Hand to arrange each of them to get on the plane - hence all the random coincidences and meetings and stuff in the flashbacks. That's why it won't let Michael or Jack die after 'escaping' the island, it still needs their help. This tracks with why Locke didn't die in the ditch. Jacob to Locke: "Help Me". Jacob is basically "the island" - it's brain, or mind, or manifestation of it, whatever. Losties = chosen defenders of the Island. Most of this stuff is out there already, I only made two leaps here: 1) "You cant kill yourself" and the Numbers are the same phenomena, and 2) Libby works for Widmore. But i think it all fits together nicely, save for two things: 1) WTF is Smokey the Lostzilla, and how can something so apparently old (even DHARMA had the sonar fence to stop Lostzilla) be so "tech-y" 2) Why these particular people were chosen as the defenders I suspect the answer to both of these is time travel related somehow. That's the part that's still a mystery but most everything else is starting to clear up.

I've had more than enough of this moron over the pasts 7-8 years that I dont need to pay to see more. Unless it was a comedy making fun of the fact that every decision of his seems to go Hi-Lariously Wrong, I can't imagine who the f would want to see this movie??? I cant imagine any Bush Fans trusting OLIVER STONE to make a movie about Bush they will like (though I'll give em credit, James Cromwell as Bush Sr. is excellent casting)

It must be tough for you to be so much smarter than everyone else. How can you resist the urge to just slap the millions of stupid people?

I haven't always been on the obama bandwagon, though i'm pretty much a left-leaner, but it was fairly gutsy to hit on some of the points he did, at one point he basically said "yeah, when whites and blacks arent around each other, they say racist shit about each other", at another point he distanced himself from those comments but said he cant completely disown the guy, at another point he talked directly about white americans who might feel resentful because they never did anything to blacks and just worked hard and feel "blamed" for it. There were 3 or 4 more points where i was genuinely surprised he was saying some of the things he did, This isn't the sort of speech that's "normal" for a political candidate and I respect that.
-
I can see Hillary bringing Obama on the ticket. But I can't see Obama bringing Hillary onboard, it completely torpedoes his whole "change" "a new way of doing things" message. The two have such large swaths of support in the democratic party though, that it's almost a waste though to not pair them up though.

That's a bit simplistic. She's been hammering him all week with pretty strong effective ads, and also the NAFTA thing (a bigger more relevant issue in Ohio than in most places), and he hasn't responded quickly or forcefully enough to it. He basically Kerry'd the last week.
-
If Obama isn't careful, he's going to get stuck with a "choker" "he's not a closer" label here. This is the 2nd time he could have put Hillary away but failed. The confusion with the whole Canada/NAFTA thing and the weak response to Hillary's late burst of tough "He's not experienced enough" ads really had an effect it seems. Funny how that foreign policy confusion/fuck-up happened just as hillary was pushing the 'he's inexperienced at foreign policy' drumbeat, eh? that's just effective politics.

Sounds like a huge waste. here's how I would have done it. Make the whole island traversable, and set the game up in a GTA/Bully/MMO type style, where you have quests and tasks to do (along with some over-arching storyline). Make it sandbox play... hell how about adding an online component and making it a mini-MMO (up to 40 people on a server, that sort of thing, create your own "survivor of the crash"), essentially never ending, add minigames, add the open ability to hunt any animal you see. Add factions in camp, reputation points, do favors and tasks for different people to join their side. Hell a huge part of the game could be "mapping" the island (thus forcing you to explore the whole island), try and get that sense of wonder and awe to the whole island. All it requires a little creativity and you could do fun things. Almost an "Oblivion" style of gameplay.

Oh another thing I liked was the whole cast of the movie... Michael AND George-Michael from Arrested Development... JK Simmons (who will always be remembered as Verne Schillinger to me), CJ from West Wing, really fun cast.

The Desmond/Penny "reunion" was a real tear jerker moment, very cathartic actually, acted beautifully, and killer editing during the last bit where they cut back and forth really suddenly.

Finally got around to seeing this today. Loved it. Laughed hard many times at the dialogue (very funny), and some of the scenes were genuinely touching. Only real complaint is I didnt feel the chemistry between her and Bleeker (or whatever his name is), and her realization of love felt kinda forced. Ellen Page was just ridiculously cute and likeable. Cool movie and deserved its nominations.

What are good cheap reliable options? The only I really know of godaddy.com and only because of the commercials. Basically I want a) Domain name b) Webspace, a fairly significant amount, but it doesn't have to be in the 100s of gigabytes or anything. c) reliability - isn't gonna be server failing often d) Easy to update/upload pages and files and whatnot. In fact, easy FTP access might be the best idea. Any suggestions?

John Cena calls out the The Rock for leaving wrestling

I wonder what would have happened had The Marine become a 250+ million megahit and he was being talked about as the new arnold, and getting 10 million dollar deals for huge ass action movies. -
I wouldnt go that far, but the selection of clips was not very compelling, except for a shot of Mulder running which brought back memories, but I'm hoping that's not a real trailer and was just something they threw together for WonderCon. No reason why we should care about the agents in the snow or the long haired guy or whatever. Needs more Mulder and Scully plz.

they put ppl that nobody ever heard of (not a complaint) btw, but not someone who actually starred in a couple of movies? ok whatever... it is a bit crap and if they were worried about the feel-goodness of it, just stick him in the middle somewhere.

Once was a good movie. It wasn't widely known, but it is well known in certain circles (i'll bet in like NY and boston and places like that its well known). I'm glad the song won rather than that Enchanted crap.
-
It's not going to help the Clintons, but its going to hurt in the general. there are huge swaths of people who believe (because they "heard" it) that he is Muslim, and that he didnt want to raise his hand to his chest for the pledge alliegance because of his muslim religious beliefs. It seems stupid to "informed" people, but people don't follow politics as closely as internet political discussion people and really think he is and would be surprised to hear he was christian.

Which woman is suposed to be nadia? in the jury? I have the episode downloaded. When jack is on the stand, they show the woman closest to him, she sort of looks like Nadia but it's definately not Nadia. or is there someone else who's supposed to be her?

I just saw the episode. This season is so good its ridiculous. While a part of me is still mad they never really reached the potential of the "on island" stories before the whole rescue and Others stuff, this new stuff really gives the story a mythic sort of quality. I can't wait for the day when they have to return to the island. Dude, WTF are they gonna find? I wonder if Claire died, or if Claire is still there on the island? Is Aaron one of the "oceanic 6"? he might not count since he wasn't born yet? hard to say. I'm guessing no since the one in the coffin was supposedly one of the 6 (otherwise their death wouldnt make the paper). Jack, kate, sayid, hurley, coffin person (who kate is mad at), and Aaron? or someone else? bTW my new theory on the coffin person is Sayid, and the reason why kate is angry at him (from the end of last season) is that at some point they find out he's working for Ben.

Wally and Delonte are good pickups for Cleveland... Ben Wallace, not so much, but looks like he was the price for them to get the players and unload Hughes, so whatever.
