That makes no sense considering Kwame is an expiring contract... why not just ride out the rest of the season and take the cap space.

Between this deal by Jerry West and the Lakers and McHale and the Celtics, does the NBA need to start looking at collusion since they're clearly helping their beloved franchises? (i'm only half serious i dont actually want the NBA to look at them, the less meddling by them the better) A tremendous deal for the Lakers. It's not as bad as it sounds for Memphis though, they will have lotsa cap room, and Critter-whateverhisnameis isn't bad, and the picks will no doubt come in handy, but its hard to believe they couldn't come up with something better from another team. edit; I just realized, didn't jerry west leave Memphis or got fired or something? in which case, so much for my snarky initial comment

Kate seemed to really hate the person in the coffin. So I'm going with Michael in the coffin, since it would make sense considering what Michael did. I really like the flash-forwards, the idea of all 6 (or 5, whoever's left) eventually realizing they have to go back, almost an institutionalized frame of mind where they cant function correctly outside of the island any more, is a fresh direction, and gives the story an almost mythic quality. I do hope the 'evil boat guys' are more interesting than the Others, who were boring as shit until Ben's backstory showed they were there before Dharma. I think what will happen is the flash-forwards will tell the story of how the Oceanic 6 (5?) all come back together and their season storyline ends with them returning to the island in the finale, while the "normal" timeline tells the story of their escape... like the last scenes will be Oceanic 6 finally getting freed and going home, intercut with the future Oceanic 6 returning to the island.... essentially closing the gap between the two storylines. Then next season can be about their actual return and what they find.. imagine them coming back and finding the remaining guys in tribes or in full lord of the flies mode. By the way, DANIELS (from The Wire) as the shady guy posing as Oceanic lawyer was creepy as hell. I love that guy, he's got such a cool look and voice. I hope he comes back.

1 to 12 are on ABC.com somewhere if u wanna catch up. There's one pretty cool one with Ben and Juliet during the peroid they had Walt captured.

That actually sounds really neat, if the other 2-3 actors are in Ledger/Depp's league. Seeing a bunch of really good actors' interpretations of the same role in one movie could be cool as hell.

If any of you guys haven't seen it... go watch the last LOST webisode/mobisode RIGHT NOW. #13. http://spoilerslost.blogspot.com/2008/01/l...-it-begins.html Note: despite that its a spoiler site, this particular post doesn't have any spoilers, it's just an embedded video of the webisode. The rest are a mixed bag. Some really good ones, some superfluous ones. They're a lot more fun if you watch em like 4 at a time or a something, it adds to a big Lost fix.

I'd be shocked if HIllary lost the nomination. I've always thought she was gonna win (though even I was fooled by that Iowa to NH period), but the Obama/Hillary contest has turned into the Clintons' sort of political fight. I like Obama better but his unwillingness to fight dirty makes it hard to see him winning the general election even if he wins this one.

I think it's an outside chance, given Nolan's involvement and the pedigree of actors involved with the film and his death.

and the new Incredible Hulk is....

http://www.darkhorizons.com/news08/080124a.php Really psyched about this, and also Iron Man. Norton and Robert Downey Jr. = good. -
well win lose or draw, his performance is going to immortalized and become famous (or infamous). I think the trailer alone showed enough manic energy in him to make people take notice, but now? Now EVERYBODY is going to be seeing this and paying particular attention to it.

the weird part is... he was found dead in Mary Kate Olsen's apartment (she was in Cali) ............ thats just weird, especially since she wasn't there to be doing her. (FYI he and michelle williams are seperated)

God bless Martin Luther King Jr for getting me off of work on Monday (and all the other stuff too).

Michael Mann was onboard to direct "Tonight, He Comes" (original title of Hancock), back when it was a more serious movie, it had been making the rounds as one of the better unfilmed screenplays in Hollywood. I don't really know any creative specifics though except that it was heavily rewritten afterwards to suit Will Smith.

regarding patent lawsuits of the Wii, here's one that is more interesting, because there's an accompanying video... its an ex-Midway guy who filed patents, and took video of himself demonstrating the patent on a hacked Dreamcast Ready to Rumble 2 - its amusing because he's wearing boxer shorts. http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/14/ex-midw...elf-s/#comments

NBA, where Joe Dumars tries to help save Isiah's job happens.

I suppose the justification is, it was one of the team's people who made this mistake, giving them an unfair advantage (as opposed to, say, the refs who work for hte league giving someone an unfair advantage). it's still the weirdest thing i've ever heard.

*nods* Basically I'm replacing the lack of TV shows on the air with an episode of Netflix. The Wire and Entourage discs just came in
-
yeah this might be fun - i dont really know anyone else with netflix to look from. how does work exactly though? It just shows you other people's queues?

digital distribution will happen but its going to be a hard sell to be "mainstream" to the point where disc media will be. the fact is, there are too many different digital stuff competing... i mean there's itunes, xbox live marketplace, tivo, cable and ondemand, Netflix has their own set top box coming out, and those are just the ones off the top of my head. It's too crowded a market, and ALL of them are tied up and incompatible with everyone else. iTunes you need the damn apple tv box to watch content on tv and the quality sucks, tivo has its own box, xbox has its own, etc etc. Not to mention very few of these systems actually let you OWN movies. Poeple may not need physical media but I submit they need something to "own", even if it is just "Casino_Royale_full_movie.avi". Blu/HD-dvd was a 2 side format war and it drove technophiles nuts. imagine a 10-sided war and add in the "general consumer" - there's no way it takes off in anything more than a (strong) niche. Ironically the best digital distribution method in terms of working in an easy way is still pirated movies - downloading and burning (or connecting computer to TV) is still a pain, but there are no DRM issues to worry about, no incompatibility or lock, you have the file and its not gonna expire, and given enough file size and enough space on media, all you need is a computer and a tv.

The obama/hillary contest is ridiculously close, with each one having 10,000 more than the Republican winner. If she wins, mark my words, I'll bet the crying thing helped her standing with women. People sometimes forget, despite everything, the Clintons are pretty good at politics. I was even thinking to myself after Iowa "I cannot think of any way Hillary can humanize herself in 4 days", next thing you know she's on Drudge with tears in her eyes.

all those articles are rooting back to "The Financial Times" though - everybody seems to be denying it though, so if that one paper is wrong then the story would end up being BS.

I'm not sure, i dont think the Democratic side is fragmented enough for there to be some radical shift post-NH - i think it's going to be more like Kerry/Dean the last time around. There are only 3 major candidates and they all finished with like 30 percent or more in Iowa. None of them skipped Iowa for NH or ignore NH for Iowa. They all spent time and money there. The republican side has more 'serious' candidates and some of them skipped Iowa to finish strong in NH (McCain, Rudy) and others like Huckabee put their eggs in Iowa and wont finish strong in NH. in races like these which are more fragmented, it's more likely for later primaries to produce shifts in the campaign, as it did with Tsongas and Clinton and all those guys back in 92. The Democrat side just isn't like that. I see later states taking their cues from Iowa and NH. If Obama wins NH, he's gonna be the candidate. For Republicans, winning in NH doesn't guarantee anything (unless huckabee won NH which won't happen)

Samsung is actually one of the companies that started Blu-Ray. I was reading about this, and was sort of surprised to find that the Blu-Ray actually isn't a "Sony format" per se the way the PSP movies or MiniDisc or whatever was, they just happened to be the larger of the backers, and started using the "blue lasers" before the others in their own formats. Samsung is one of the "blu ray people" It was apparently started by Hitachi, LG, Panasonic, Pioneer, Philips, Samsung, Sharp, Thomson multimedia, and of course Sony. That's a pretty huge part of the electronics industry, whereas HD-DVD was essentially Toshiba and NEC to start with.

bahaha this is awesome! I'm voting for Bosh based soley on this. unfortunatly he's behind KG and Lebron

i'm genuinely surprised that Edwards is doing so well in polls to the point where its a 3 way race. I thought he had the 'loser' stigma around his neck.
