That's great and all, but we'res till glossing over the part where an ISLAMIC FUNDAMENTALIST REGIME IS SUDDENLY IN CONTROL OF A NUCLEAR PAKISTAN. In other words, exactly what we want to prevent from happening in Iran. Whoops. Then again there have been a lot of "Whoops" in the battle against terrorists, so it would just be par for the course.

it's the fact that it's a BAD plan that seems to ignore the repercussions of what would happen in Pakistan. Musharraf's support of US is already hugely unpopular - he gets regular attacks on him by islamic fundamentalists - sending US troops into Pakistan is way high up there on "worst possible moves we can do" (right behind 'an iraqi occupation' ... err, wait) seriously is there ANY way this doesn't result in Musharraf getting toppled and a strong anti-US islamic gov't in charge of Pakistan? Anybody?? Hello am I speaking from an island here??? Do you guys know something I don't about the Pakistan situation? If so now's the time to say it - I'm all ears, because I can't fathom how this is in any way a good idea. Anybody who honestly believes that throwing troops into Pakistan is going to HELP matters in any way, is in my humble opinion, NAIVE. or stupid. Now if you'll excuse me, i'ma go watch youtube videos and read about video games. :-P

WWE General Discussion for August 2007

Jericho. (no not really - but jericho would be able to do funny stuff with the angle no doubt) -
You know that's exactly what Clinton said, don't you? Why do you think that? the pakistan comments made me think that. I realize the irony - Obama made those comments because hillary said he was naive... and saying them made me agree with hilarry. like it matters what i think though. I dont dislike obama, i like him in fact, but those comments really made me raise an eyebrow. of course the TRUE reality is probably that Obama wouldn't even necessarily do that if he was in office - he just said it so he'd look decisive and ready to 'take action' on foreign policy.

part 5 of the Final Fantasy retrospective: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/23449.html This is the one that covers FF7 - so far the whole series of videos has been really good. FF7's brought back some memories. -
the belt on Nitro was always an excuse by Vince to try and placate the boys in the back. there was never any real chance of that happening. WWF could have easily dropped it off of Bret later on, WWF would have had him under contract to do so. there might have been a concern about Bischoff announcing it (supposedly bisch had promised Bret at that point not to do so until he was gone, but who knows), but there was never any chance of Bret showing up on nitro with the belt.

that's... very strange. However it's not out of the question - that would actually be sort of ingenious - outfitting animals/rats/squirrells with spy gear, and let em scurry around.

there's very little doubt in my mind that hillary is going to win the primary and probably the presidency - in fact i'm pretty sure i made some declarative statement about it early in the thread. Poll leads can evaporate pretty quickly in primaries (hello howard dean) - but still I think Obama has come across as a bit naive in foreign policy. Frankly i dont pay attention to what people say are 'electable' or not - that's usually just codeword for "i don't like them - thus i dont think they can win".

The Hawks uniforms are bland, but its more about erasing the "aura" of the previous Hawks teams - ie the stink of failure. Just giving them a different 'feel' and i think it does that.

where are you trying to get this WO podcast from? Podcasts are just "feeds" of mp3/music files - basically instructions that say 'download THIS mp3 at THIS time'. Thereotically, if the podcast is mp3 files, you can just use iTunes to get the files and then once you have the mp3 just move it over to your mp3 player manually. barring that here are a few other programs which should let you download the mp3s from podcasts if you dont have or want to d/l itunes: http://www.podcastingnews.com/topics/Podcast_Software.html

Though it may not be #1 pick, I would certainly not object to anyone calling The Wire the best show on television. It's certainly up there, fantastic. Back on topic - Heroes is great though, but it remains to be seen if it can keep the level of quality going.

I used to love 24 but I didn't even get halfway through that last season. It's sort of amazing how quickly it fell off my radar after being must see TV for like 4 or 5 years straight.

I dont like the fact that Umbridge sent them because imo it moves her too much into "overtly evil" territory rather than a tyrranical person who thinks they're doing what's best for the "world", which is more realistic for people like the Ministry. The movie implies (by omission) that Voldemort sent them, and that's fine imo.

regarding The Rock's bitch-tits and wearing the warmups - I'm pretty sure it was because he had some kind of surgery to remove flab or something like that, and it left a mark. -
Well I suppose if someone goes out and buys a copy of Vista I can see why they'd be underwhelmed, but I'm surprised people do that. Other than replacement purposes, why would you? I've never bought an OS, it's always came pre-loaded on whatever computer I get. Vista came pre-loaded on my laptop and it's fine. The search integrated is a nice feature, its documents/video/music folder structures are more streamlined (i actually use them), and the UI looks cool. I also find some of the option settings to be easier to access. Other than that it's a slight improvement over XP. I see no real reason to hate it if you didn't pay extra for it.

i wasnt really paying attention to HP when Azkaban came out - but it's definately the Empire Strikes Back of the HP movies. Total tone shift, didn't do as much money, darker - but more beloved over time because of the mythic quality and better filmmaking. Frankly I love the movie, and is the only HP i'd watch again and again as a great film. The other ones are good to watch once or twice, then i forget about em and read the vastly superior books.

just for future reference, the word "WormyT" on the bottom is a poster at superherohype's forums, he's actually very good at video manipulation. he did this one, which was a superman trailer, except he managed to (somewhat) seamlessly put Tom Welling's face on christopher reeve's body (i'm talking about video footage here not photoshop). So yeah if you see WormyT on the bottom right of a video - it's a well made fan trailer.

terrorists are brushing up on their "right click an enemy to auto-attack" skills. -
i like the joker design in that fake video more than what we've seen so far though.
-
err you realize that's a fake right? it says so right in the youtube description.

I actually like obama so this is somewhat painful to admit, but his recent comments on attacking Pakistan don't sit well with me (the nuke statement also but that's lesser). If his intention was to disprove hillary's accusations of being naive at foreign-policy-defense, well he did just the opposite. Saying "oh well we'll just send troops into pakistan" is the height of naivetee since there are very concrete political reasons we dont do that - namely that we don't want the pakistani government to get toppled and replaced by a hardline extremist one.

I can see the pistons with a top 2 record in the conference, only to lose in 6 in the ECF to say Chicago or somebody. The core is not old enough yet to where they're gonna fall off significantly - they're good for another 50+ win season. The oldest guys, Cwebb and Dale Davis, are gone, and there's a new infusion of youth. I love them, but I don't think they can win a title with flip saunders at the helm, and with the lack of hunger/desire from the starters. Unless Maxiell and Amir really break out. Interested in seeing how Rodney Stuckey plays.

The Nets will do NOTHING next year. I've never ever even felt the slightest bit of fear that these Nets (ie - since Vince Carter joined the team) would get close to coming out of the East. ive thought since day one that the much ballyhooed 3 stars (Kidd/Carter/RJ) was overrated and too front-heavy. Kidd, RJ, and K-Mart had balance out-middle-in. Plus as great as Carter is, imo he doesn't have the right mindset in the playoffs. 45 wins a semifinal exit. Maybe even a 1st round exit depending on the matchup they draw.

OAO Raw Thread - July 30, 2007
bobobrazil1984 replied to OldSchoolWrestling's topic in The WWE Folder
i think its simply a reaction to the wrestlers. I'm not the best judge being that i havent watched a full raw in years, but I did tune in for a little bit to this RAW - i follow the forums regularly though, reading tsm wwe forum has replaced actually watchin the shows.. watched about 20 seconds of Cena, Carlito, and some other idiot, with hammocks in the ring, and changed it - these guys are just awful. I s'pose it didnt help that earlier in the day i'd been watching clips of the rock and mankind on youtube at work, which had whet my appetite to give RAW another shot... but anywyas, long term creative took a huge nosedive in 2001, stayed at that crappy level until i stopped regular weekly viewing in 03, and from all indications and times i've checked in it doesnt seem to have improved much. i'm just surprised ratings didnt hit this low plateau sooner. Have the ratings stayed low since the Benoit murders? If so there's your other reason. -
