acie law is the guy i was hoping would slip to the pistons. i like his game, good move by atlanta.

the reports are that they've got their hearts set on Stuckey. or maybe a point guard. i agree detroit doesn't really need a 4, at least not at this position in the draft. I suppose if there's a good real Center (as opposed to PF types like Maxiell and Amir) it might be worth looking at, but any C that good would already be taken.
-
i'll laugh if the Hawks were trying for Law as their PG and someone else grabs him.

I'm glad Mil picked ihm even though Yi's people didn't want it. It irritates me when draftees pull that stuff, trying to lock teams out. I mean, be glad you're in the NBA and play for the team that drafted you, and if you dont like the team, then ask for a trade later in your rookie contract.

well Pierce had said if he didnt get veteren help, he'd ask for a trade. So that's probably why they did it. Works fine I think, though they gave up a lot.

i am much angrier with the WWE for their years of lackadaisical response to steroids, including the flawed 'wellness plan' (which was a decent start, but about 5 to 10 years too late), than I am with the media for pushing the steroids. there are serious problems with the WWE (industry in general?) which would never even get a token fix unless the media harps on it, so i hope they keep pushing 1) steroids, and 2) more importantly, the staggering number of 45 and under deaths in the wrestling industry. Clearly there is something about the industry and lifestyle that leads to so much early death. It's practically an epidemic. This is not even debateable unless you're in denial or desperate to protect the industry you "love". Its funny though, because you think a certain way when you're addicted to watching the shows, I know I was, including siding with WWE against the media. But once you break the 'addiction', things start getting clear, and you slowly start to see things with an objective eye. The industry has SERIOUS problems. Something, whether it's an aggressive steroid crackdown, or a change in the schedules or the way the wrestlers work, needs to be done, and we all know Vince McMahon isn't going to do shit unless he has to, so I'm cheering the media on. Keep the heat on. -
other than dropping the Vince death angle, it won't change one bit. They'll just get defensive about all the steroid talk, and go in the opposite direction. In fact I expect something incredibly tasteless, like, I dunno, wrestlers cutting promos on what an asshole Benoit is, or something like that.

3 lottery picks in this draft. Minnesota could really parlay that into something good. Well, if they draft well, and knowing what a fool they have in charge, who knows.

Stuckey has been making minor waves ever since there was an (unconfirmed) report that the Pistons had made him a promise. He got picked by the league for that green/media room, and Hollinger's stats analysis (which I dont take too seriously) reflect highly on him. i personally have never seen him play and have no opinion either way, except that I hope the hype is real and the Pistons get a good player out of it. on that related note, I'm one of the (few?) people who loves the age limit rule and wished it was 20 instead of 19. It's purely for selfish reasons though, I'm not a big NCAA fan, but tihs particular tournament was fun, because I would watch games to scout out future NBA players myself, Oden, Conley, acie law, durant, etc etc. It just made the tournament fun, knowing that a bunch of these guys would be in the draft.

this is a valid point. I just meant Godfather style in the way it's set up. Yes you're right, there was a logistic reason in the movie. Here there isn't one - except maybe he's preparing and can walk out with an uninterrupted clear shot at Tony from the side. and what's this grasping at straws to change the ending business? David Chase SHOT and EDITED the last scene himself. What, you think it's an ACCIDENT there were endless close ups and focuses on this guy? The scene is clearly shot and cut to be one of two things: A) the guy is important and about to do something or B) the guy is a tension-building red herring It's all right there, its one of the two, and both of them are plausible. Grasping at straws to change the ending is like, "hey, maybe AJ pulled out a gun and shot Carmella in the head because she nags him all the time", there's nothing to suggest that is even remotely possible. Here there is everything to suggest that A or B are realistic possibilities. I choose A, and since the aired ending was so vague, I feel fine about it. If David Chase wanted to make it clear one way or the other, he would have shown it (i hope). So Tony got whacked. good ending!

The problem with that is that it wasn't Benoit's decision to make. You can't just play God, and then ask for forgiveness afterwards. I doubt that's why he did it anyway. Maybe he's just a sick, twisted, fuck who decided to kill everyone in the house one day. I'm tired of people trying to fuckin make Benoit look like he was doing this for the good of his family and there was a positive light in this. The asshole tied up his wife and beat her, and then he killed his son. Period. so what, you think the big guy is gonna deny little Daniel entry into the big white land that's better than this land, because it wasn't daddy's decision to make? that would be very f'ed up, wtf did Daniel ever do? Why doesn't he deserve to go to heaven!?!? -

Well, then, I guess Benoit's mission to send his kid to a better situation was a raging success. -

hey, maybe Chris Benoit takes religion literally. What do you think is better, this world, or heaven!??????? It's kinda hard to go to heaven when you MURDER your wife and kid. Um, i meant the kid going to heaven. Wasn't that one of hte theories? that he killed Nancy, and then decided to kill the kid and was sending his kid to a better place? I mean, hey, if you took religion literally, killing your own kid would send the kid to heaven, right!?? The kid was probably a good kid. Now he'll have a better life in heaven than he would have with no mother and a psycho dad!!! Good people go to heaven when they die!!!!!!! Doens't religion say that???? -

that was basicaly what i was suggesting to. I've been wanting that since Eddie died of an "enlarged heart". I remember WWE made some token gesture at a drug testing program, and i remember being dubious of it then. -

Even if there was no roid rage, I'm glad the media are at least somewhat putting it together, even if its disengenious. Ever since Eddie i've been wanting sweeping seroius change in the industry on steroids, serious sweeping change. Hell even independently of Benoit, i've wanted this, and if something REAL happens (which I doubt), it can only be a good thing. I'm talking like, mandatory weekly testing of everybody, all done by an independent agency with no ties to WWE, and anyone tests positive is banned for life, period, that sort of thing. -

I just read the details, and that is SO INCREDIBLY FUCKED UP. I mean, yes, stuff like this actually happens every day all across the country, but it's still fucked up to see someone you followed. I mean, wow. Chris Benoit was one of those fuckin' lunatic religious freaks!? Killing them, leaving a bible next to them, for the purposes of sending them to heaven? Good lord, he's one of those uber religious freaks I mock in my day to day life. -

... WTF!? Heinous and horrible, even moreso than it already is?? I'm literally cringing here, I have a few possible thoughts on how it could get more horrible than it already is but i almost don't want to say it out loud* *(well out "loud" on a message board) -
that's probably the best way to handle it, well except maybe cancelling the shows outright and letting the networks show reruns of other shows.

I want this same device but without all the phone/internet/monthly stuff. iPod + video + photo stuff in that nice screen.

What a turn of events. One day Chris Benoit is an internet wrestling god, and one of my favorites ever. The next he's a child murderer who is going to be purged form WWE history. The whole thing is still hard to wrap your head around. -
only a couple teams have the cap room to make him a real offer, and Detroit has his "Bird rights". I dont recall exactly but if Milwaukee and Orlando renounce some of their free agent option guys, they would have the room to make an offer, and there are a few others I think. However, the Lakers are not part of that group. Any other team requires a sign and trade. the scuttlebutt is that the Pistons will offer him 13 mil a year.
