Does Anyone Still Play World of Warcraft?
bobobrazil1984 replied to Red Baron's topic in Video Games
I went ahead and bought the expansion today. I only play for an hour or two each night, and have had it for a year+ and only have one 70. OTOH I do play it for that hour or two almost every day. Popped in the DVD, installed it while watching Smallville. Logged into the game, watched the cool Arthas video opening... tries to log onto my 70........ 900+ Queue. /facepalm. -
Does Anyone Still Play World of Warcraft?

There were some reports of 7 Eleven (yes, they sell the "hot game release of the week" now at some 7 Eleven's) breaking street date and selling Lich King early. Forgot to swing by yesterday but will check one or two today to see. It would be great to fire it up tonight after midnight w/o having to wait in the cold. Otherwise I'm just gonna wait till tomorrow and buy it after work. -
The newsweek articles RobotJerk cites (i also posted a link to that earlier) are tremendous. There are 3 detailed chapters up on the site following the campaigns on the primary season, including McCain, Obama, and HIllary campaigns. Its very clear to me why Obama prevailed out of the 3 reading those articles. He owned his campaign, while Hillary and McCain were owned by their infighting advisors and managers.

its not just "a black person became president" its also part of Obama as a candidate, people are genuinely moved by his story and speechifying. A good portion of these people wouldn't care one whit if Jesse Jackson was up there as President. A lot of people got into the poltical process during the Bush years or the tail end of the Clinton years. This is probably the first time they've experienced being realy happy and proud for a specific president.

from that newsweek link earlier: The debates unnerved both candidates. When he was preparing for them during the Democratic primaries, Obama was recorded saying, “I don’t consider this to be a good format for me, which makes me more cautious. I often find myself trapped by the questions and thinking to myself, ‘You know, this is a stupid question, but let me … answer it.’ So when Brian Williams is asking me about what’s a personal thing that you’ve done [that’s green], and I say, you know, ‘Well, I planted a bunch of trees.’ And he says, ‘I’m talking about personal.’ What I’m thinking in my head is, ‘Well, the truth is, Brian, we can’t solve global warming because I f—ing changed light bulbs in my house. It’s because of something collective’.”

Read this: http://www.newsweek.com/id/167581/page/1 (this is more about both campaigns than it is specifically about president obama but that thread aint here no more)

A very good and detailed article talking about some of the behind the scenes strategy involved with the Obama campaign, including responses to Rev Wright, New Hampshire, Palin announcement, etc. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/05/us/polit...agewanted=print

one of the great things about a losing campaign is that the senior advisors all start SINGING about what went wrong behind the scenes, with all sorts of interesting little anecdotes about the campaign. Keep an eye out for those, disguised as "senior McCain advisors", anybody seen any of those articles yet?

I'm very curious to see the polls to analyze the Palin effect. The pre-election polls were pretty damning. She made people abandon McCain. I'm also curious if the Republicans will realize their nasty negative caustic sarcastic-type campaign really contributed to Obama's win. Will they adjust their tone or will they just try harder? Obama loves Al Qaeda? Obama is Lenin re-incarnated? Oogy boogy?

i just turned to FOX and its like a funeral in their room, haha, this big long silence.
-
Um am I crazy or am I hearing loud boos for Palin?

I always stayed away from the whole "first black president history" aspect but man even I was overwhelmed by the moment. Wow. I hope he's a good president.

CNN calls it for Virginia. It's basically official now, as California will put him over 270!
-
CNN is like a bunch of tech geeks just going nuts over their new toys. Its hilarious, holograms, fancy touch screens, those 3d city models.
-
John McCain must hate George W Bush, haha. In a way, this is the 2nd time he got his ass beat by Bush in a way.
-
I hope Obama pulls out Virginia and North Carolina and Florida. I want this to go down in history books as a landslide, as America taking one final GIGANTIC DIARRHEA SHIT all over George W. Bush. And yes I want textbooks to refer to it as a diarrhea shit.
-
Looking like McCain NARROWLY keeps Indiana but loses Virginia by almost the same margin, 1 or 2 percent.
-
Obama jsut took a lead in Virgiina according to Politico!
-
McCain wins Texas! McCAIN SURGE!!!!!! :-p Obama is killing.
-
Looks like McCain si gonna pull out Indiana.
-
The CNN touchscreen guy just did a hypothetical on that screen where he gave McCain EVERY state left except for the west coast 3 and iowa.. he still doesn't reach 270. It's over.

Bahaha they turned off the NEWS at the Phoenix McCain rally.
