Wow. WOW! That was some fuckin' game. too bad it was a 3-0 series and not 3-3, or this may have been one of the best games I've ever seen. Awesome ending. GO TIGERS!!!

wow, 8th inning DISASTER. edit: narrowly avoided disaster that is. Still, wow.

that's a tad disappointing to hear. I thought the cutscenes in FFX were just about right, considering RPGs are story driven. -
I'd agree with that. I remember the 2003 Tigers season, going to a few games for work (i was an intern at fox sportsnet detroit), and being surprised at how many fans would go there, even as they were the worst teams in baseball. It really is a good place if you like sports. And on that note, Fire Millen.

Juliet being "him" is a cool idea, but I don't think its consistent with what we've seen of hte interplay between Ben and Juliet. There's a certain smugness and air of Ben being in control.

btw I love ABC putting the episodes for free on ABC.com. A lot of times I dont want to rewatch a whole episode, just a few scenes, and don't want to go through the hassle of getting/downloading it from torrents or mirc. The resolution's not bad either, even at the "big" size setting, for a free show. Yeah you have to sit through a commercial to go between acts but its still pretty convenient. Episode 1 was the season opening scene, which rocked, and here it was the Red Sox scene which was pretty dramatic. nice bit of acting there by Jack.

I was thinking that too. They really did paint her as truly dishonest. From the scene as a kid, to her cheating, to her hiding her English, to her telling Jin "I've never been with another man" (from last season, that's just fucked up), to her now. It'd actually be kind of awesome if they slowly revealed more stuff and by the end we find out she's really this raging evil bitchmonster hiding behind this friendly demeanor, though I suspect it's more inconsistent writing than a concerted effort to make her into a baddie.

i've been playing kingdom hearts, and i'm bitterly disappointed. The graphics, presentation, and coolness of seeing donald/goofy with their voices and FF characters is all top notch, but the actual combat gameplay is ASS. The fucking camera ruins the game for me, I can't ever tell wtf is going on, and navigating the menu in battle is a pain in the ass (i hate when they try to meld real-time with menus. pick one or the other). It's all mashing the same button. Ugh. There's also just something odd about what buttons do what, i cant explain it, but always seem to be unatural (like, you lock on with L1... but to switch targets, its R2? huhh? that still throws me, and requires me to stop and think which button it is instead of natural like most good games do). Ugh. I was hoping for something that would stand up to zelda and dark cloud 2 in the action-rpg arena, but this is just a chore to play. -
another funny part was when Sawyer smirked at the thought of Kate taking off her dress, then Kate gives him a look, and he suddenly acts outraged "How dare you!"
-
that was a nice touch. Actually I noticed starting from the raft launch time throughout the 2nd season, they've had Jin picking up and saying some words here and there. Its realistic he'd start to learn some words and be able to grasp ideas.

I liked this episode. The Red Sox clip was cool, almost like you felt Jack's amazement at seeing a sign of the real outside world again since we haven't really seen the world in LOST (except the bizarro penny clip). But I audibly groaned at the reveal that Ben was listening to Sawyer. The Others being on top of everything that's happening, and it all being a plan is just really tiresome. I was really glad Sun shot that bitch, just because I am desperate for the Losties to, FOR ONCE, ACTUALLY WIN GODDAMMIT. They lost the boat here (Sayid's ambush plan was pure ass btw. Two guys wait in the trees for god knows how many Others? rolls eyes). Thats part of the reason I hated the Ben-listening reveal. i thought, FINALLY, something that isn't part of the expirement(s), finally the Losties use their brains and are fighting back, Sawyer does something cool... then bam, more of 'The omnipotent others'. Man am I glad Sun shot the bitch. Good going you adulterous whore!!! (they really torpedoed Sun's character didn't they? How incredibly unlikeable they made her, right from the beginning when she lied and got her maid fired. I'm not complaining though.)

North Korea Agrees to end Nuke Program
bobobrazil1984 replied to Prime Time Andrew Doyle's topic in Current Events
Well, I'm still not sure what it is you're proposing when you say "remind them we have the capability to wipe them off the earth" or something. You said you weren't talking about nuking N Korea... so... What exactly are you proposing then? Conventional warfare? Raining missiles down on the cities? Pinpointing their nuclear sites and hitting those (I wouldn't necessarily be against the latter)? What? I mean, any direct military action other than instant genocide probably equals South Korea and Japan getting flattened, and China doing god knows what, and once you have the US and the entire area (including China) fighting, it's basically open world war 3. -
Manhattan building hit by "small aircraft"
bobobrazil1984 replied to naiwf's topic in Current Events
seems like nothing terrorism related according to what i'm reading. as far as I know the fighter plane patrol is standard operation procedure since 9/11. might as well be safer rather than sorry. but sounds like nothing major. -

how exactly do we remind them without launching a devestating attack? We can't start making outright threats if we're not willing or able to follow it up. I'd agree that the simple act of having our armed forces free and clear of the middle east quagmires and messes sends a subtle sort of "indirect message" that we are capable again. No doubt people like Jong Il (and probably Ahmemajad) are emboldened with the knowledge that a lot of our military capability is "busy" in Iraq and Afghanistan. however i'm not in support of any sort of pre-emptive offensive attack on civilians. -
3rd straight game where the Tigers just utterly DOMINATED the other team. Hell, that double-run HR by the Yankees at the very end was almost garbage-time-flukish. It's just Tiger city.

I dont have much of a problem with the PS3 itself or the capabilities. The price is really the ONLY problem i have but its a big one. I'm content with waiting a year or two and snagging one when the price drops.

North Korea Agrees to end Nuke Program
bobobrazil1984 replied to Prime Time Andrew Doyle's topic in Current Events
Wow, you're fucking crazy. Really. You are. With an attitude like that you'd be best friends with KJI in no time.. What have I said that's actually wrong? I feel like I'm the only realist in this conversation. At least I'd rather not see North Korea sell a nuclear weapon to Al Quaeda and have it go off in a an American city. Are we supposed to just wait around for our enemies to destroy us or what? We haven't done a single thing wrong to North Korea, but they hate us anyway. Why bother trying to negotiate with them? They've had enough opportunities to stop their program (which the entire world, even China, wants them to stop...it's not just us), but they continue. When do the limp wristed discussions end? Just so I understand, your solution is to attack North Korea right now? Drop a nuke on the country right now? What's scary about your post is how rational you are about what is essentilaly the murder of millions. I complain enough about the Bush adminstration, but sometimes someone like you just reminds me it could be far worse. We could actually have evil people in charge instead of well-meaning people who just can't do things right. Everyone else, just think about how scary it would be if people in the White House were drawing up plans to NUKE north korea right now. You feel like you're the only realist? That's hilarious, because your view is EXTREMIST. then again all extremists think they are normal. Republicans would recoil at the thought of dropping a nuke on N Korea tomorrow, and it wouldn't be just because of "political correctness" or the influence of the limp-wristed gang who arent even in power in a single govt branch. I'd wager most right wingers realize its a horrific idea. As much shite as someone like me might complain about the Bush adminsitration, I have NO DOUBT in my mind if someone told Bush "hey guess what, one of our planes with nukes just took off by himself and is gonna drop nukes on North Korea in 30 minutes", that Bush would be horrifed. Rumsfeld would be horrifed. Cheney would be horrifed (err i hope). Rice would be horrified. despite their bluster, i believe the oreillys and hannitys would be also. Ehh maybe Michael Savage would be cheering it on. -

every hero so far seems to have a sidekick. Hiro has Ando, Claire has the geeky emo kid, The cop has the FBI agent, Ali Larter has her annoying snot kid, future painter has the black chick, I'm not so sure about the flying brothers but I guess each could be the other's "sidekick".

A pretty interesting spoiler from the Impact tapings...

wow, between this and Nash's return, its the return of the geezers. modern day WCW. -
Good episode though there's still a lot of contrived and cliche stuff (most notably the cheerleader-rape-attempt nonsense and Mohinder-and-cute-neighbor's exposition hour). Ali Larter's storyline also isn't doing it for me. The evil twin angle is cool, but the storyline itself is dull as dirt. C'mon Cylar, out with their brains! The last scene was pretty fucking cool. Overall the show is entertaining and watchable, but it feels like its teetering on the edge of OMG-Awesomeness (~2006) level of shows (Lost, BSG, 24, Prison Break, etc). It needs 'something' to push it over the top. Probably an extra rewrite on each of the scripts :-P

North Korea Agrees to end Nuke Program

so maybe someone can explain something to me. how exactly were we ever going to get them to do what we want if we refused to talk to them directly when that's what they want? I understand the reasons for not wanting to talk directly to them and legitimize them, but sometimes its just simple. if they refuse to enter 6 party talks and want direct negotiations 1) you either say no, or (realistically) end up with no say in what they do or 2) you say yes, and try to influence them or 3) you use direct military action to get what you want (as others mentioned, they can retaliate easily aganist S Korea and Japan) is there a plan for North Korea? Was there ever a plan?? Or was it simply "no to direct talks, we'll only hold 6 party talks, regardless of what you say or do?". Was any of these 3 options ever on the table? or did we just stubbornly assume that by using the ancient power of The Force (as taught by Obi_Wan kenobi) we'd get em to do what we want? -
well JJ Abrams can prove it this season. By his own words, he was barely involved with Season 2.

i dont understand, what exactly is the UN supposed to do, go to war against north korea? the UN is just a place for nations to get together and bitch and negotiate with each other, and occasionally for them to come into situations as mediators with the approval of both parties. If one side wants nothing to do with the UN, then what? Am I the crazy one? do people actually WANT the UN to be powerful? I sure don't. People really talk out of both sides of their mouth on it, on one hand there's a lot of bluster about being independent and sovereignty from the UN, otoh they want the UN to do stuff that requires them to have real power. Anyways, now that they have nukes, I'd imagine any direct military action is off the table as realistic options. Hence the big advantage to having nukes. The time to do something militarily is before they have nukes, not after. -
heard kanyon on Howard stern the other day. He was saying that he started telling people that he was thinking of coming outta the closet when out for injury right before coming back, then after hearing that, WWE booked the boy george "coming outta the closet" thing with Undertaker, and told him right before going out to "sing like a faggot". apparently that's the source of his homophobia booking claims.
