He beat the Clinton machine AND the right-wing smear machine. Assuming he wins which is almost certain now. Think about that.

The Republican Panhandle is still out there for Florida though. McCain could easily grab it.

If Obama can take either Indiana or Virginia, that's a dagger to McCain's heart. McC can still stay in it if he wins both of those.

yup looks like that was a misspeak by Hume.

i think they are jumping the gun a little bit. McCain can pull off a bunch of a swing states still.

McCain has a sizeable lead in Virginia but some prominent blue counties haven't gotten in yet. Florida has Obama up right now but the panhandle (red areas) aren't reporting in. Indiana has McCain in the lead but as far as i know the northwest counties (blue) aren't in yet.

FOX News just called Pennsylvania for Obama! Ohhhh shit. Unless McCain can sweep some of hte remaining swing states he is FUCKED.

CNN's holding off too. I'm fine with that since its all based on exit polls. I'd rather wait for some real precincts reporting in.

Why is CNN alwyas the last to call?

CNN has it: Obama: 77 McCain: 34 No swing states yet.

Fox is calling some of these southern Red states for McCain way earlier than CNN. So far everything is following polls. Things are about to get really interesting as a bunch of swing states close at 8:00 pm

Yah it depends on which counties are reporting in. In the span of a minute, Florida just titled to a big Obama lead. It will probably tilt back to a closer race as more counties come in. Watching results as they come in is fun but I dont take any of them seriously until called, because most states have a few counties wiht LOTS of population and they take longer to count.

Indiana counts are useless until Indianapolis county comes in

The undecided numbers seem to be unusually high in polls, 9%? Were they usually that high in elections? That makes me nervous as someone who wants Barack to win.

Are you referring to their gigantic touchscreens? Say what you will about CNN but man they spent a lot of dough to look high tech. It really is kinda neat how they pull up all the different stats and stuff. I loved SNL weekend update's skit about that, they had a CNN guy who spent the entire semgnet just pointlessly playing with it, throwing states left and right, zooming in and out at random without making any actual points.

well, at least he got a chance to take a break from the campaign to say g'bye, from that recent trip to Hawaii

That's gotta suck, she dies the day before he most likely becomes president of the United States. wow. (I'm assuming she died today?)

doesn't it seem odd that they are stonewalling on THAT of all things? By all accounts there is nothing off about Palin's health. Hell, she looks remarkably healthy and attractive (physically at least. ok, only physically)

Pistons better hope nobody pulls a "Dallas Maverick" and just blatantly blurts out to a reporter the whole plan

Rasheed's also expiring, so it's $35 million (!) off the books at the end of this season. However, it's a season early for the 2010 sweepstakes.

that i dont think is gonna be a problem. Rasheed is well known to have mad respect for Curry who's always been one of those Alpha types, and its well known Curry is basically a Dumars mouthpiece. F'ing with him is basically like f'ing with Dumars himself. Also there's some chatter out there that Denver is going to buy out McDyess, and they might try the ole re-sign-after-a-month trick.

There are other elements to it too though. There's a line of thought that says the pistons have enough talent but don't have: 1) the hunger and drive anymore, bad attitudes, complacency, Billups and Sheed are the two main offenders of this sort of attitude. 2) are too perimeter oriented (this was partly the fault of Saunders' coaching philosophy though, his system had little to no use of inside scoring or rebounding) 3) need an "elite" scorer since the road through the title runs through guys like Lebron Pierce Kobe etc. Iverson and Stuckey can both slash very well now, AI is hungry for a title, and they really cleared up the PF logjam to bring Amir Johnson and Jason Maxiell to the forefront.
