so its all about the others? *groans* I must be the only person on Earth who finds The Others to be dreadfully boring. I just don't care. Unless they're time travellers from the future. And I'm guessing that's too 'sci-fi' and it'll be something mundane. boring. hopefully we wont have five episodes this season which climax with characters walking around looking at a new hatch.

Gee I wonder where he learned that trick from. *starts dancing to Sexy Boy music*
-
her voice is still good, though the backing music is a little generic nu-metal ish.
-
*laughs* well so much for that. ps I still dont think the parents did it, at least not the actual physical killing. Still, he's being held for child porn charges, so hopefully they NAIL him for that, so some good can come of this.

apparently right wing sites are going apeshit over the "Lost" plane crash parody at the beginning because of the kentucky plane crash earlier today. Oy. Anyways, it's awesome that 24 won it. Last year was "LOST" and this year is "24", that's the 2nd straight year my favorite shows won it. shocking.

All I gotta say is, the one thing they absolutely cannot cut out is The Weasley Twins' revenge on Umbridge. They can cut out anything else they want but that HAS to stay!

Fables is pretty damn good, but i don't know if its *that* good. Top 10 DC though for sure

Middle East Tensions Exploding

so what exactly are we going to do about it? Being that we're one of the primary (or secondary) enemies of said country (Iran)? -
How reliable is Amazon for ordering and shipping?
bobobrazil1984 replied to brokentusk16's topic in Technology
no problems with amazon at all. You should be fine using a credit card. I'd imagine money orders would slow up the whole process considerably. -
salary probably is part of the budget, but his percentage comes out of the gross revenues, and isn't covered in the budget. They have to pay Cruise his large profit margin percentage ($80 mil from the article), then recoup the 150 million budget (salary is included i think), then recoup the marketing budget (dunno what that is, probably something like $80 million, but is just a guess based on big film marketing numbers). My rough ignorant math puts that to around $300 million needs to be brought into the studio to break even. If they get half of the box office, that only gives them $200. I dunno how much of the DVD profits the studio gets though. Articles imply that Tom's percentages comes out of the revenues including the DVD sales but i didnt see it outright stated anywhere. Anyways, the point is that many films that do disappointing box office (MI3 did 133 million in the US, and its worldwide number is FAR less than MI2), get bailed out by their DVD or foreign market sales. But Tom's huge profit margin percentages torpedo that here. Some older articles said they were trying to renegotiate with Cruise and Co. for a lower contract, but apparently cruise and co weren't having it.
-
Cruise's huge profit margin is in ADDITION to his salary to make the film. If you took him out of the equation in profit margin only, they'd be up 80 million I assume instead of breaking even. Plus the fact that the studio doesn't get all the money from the box office. I think its around half? someone else can correct me here. Add to that a 150 million dollar budget.
-
^ What good is making 400 million worldwide if you're not getting any of it? Despite the 400 million worldwide gross... Paramount will be lucky to break even because of the money they have to pay Tom Cruise via his profit margin. from the LA Times (and other papers)

24 Veronica Mars The Shield LOST Battlestar Galactica As far as new shows go, I will give Heroes and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip a shot. Also, I'll be watching on DVD via Netflix: The Wire season 3, Prison Break S1, and Rome S1. Those three shows will probably take almost a full season to burn through.

I can see how legally, it is illegal and unconstitutional. I can also see how some insist that we need it to protect the country. That argument doens't exactly work with me because there are tons of illegal things we could do to make the country "safer", but doing them wouldn't us "better", instead making us "worse". My thoughts are, freedom ain't free folks. One of the prices you pay for your freedom, is that the laws that exist to give you your freedom end up giving bad guys more freedom to do bad things, freedom they wouldn't have under a more oppressive form of government. Frankly, they're allowed to get warrants AFTER THE ACTUAL TAPPING, which would still make it legal, but they refuse to do that. It bothers me that they won't even do that. I personally could probably agree to some compromise, but there needs to *some sort* of oversight.

interesting read on Time.com about the ever-present Hillary question. Drudge's linked to it on the front page. in particular there is a comment near the end of the article that suggests, via unnamed sources who are close to Hillary, that she might be interested in setting her sights on the Senate to become majority leader rather than president.

Where did this speculation come from though ? is there any evidence whatsoever of Patsy having any sort of out-of-control temper or the slightest bit of evidence about John doing his daughter? As far as i know there is nothing that implies that, in fact Patsy it turned out had a reputation for being a pretty mellow and loving person. I know that a lot of BS was leaked out by the Boulder police during the initial media frenzy and has since stuck. Like there was "reports" at the time that the Ramsey's dealt in all sorts of porn (possibly kiddie porn). Turned out to be nothing but a fake leak floated by the police, who from moment 1 believed it was the parents and were apparently tryign to smoke them out. if you want to talk about incriminating evidence, at least the paintbrush and sharpie are physical pieces of evidence, and not just baseless wild speculation. the Karr thing is looking bad at the moment, but supposedly he had secret knowledge of the crime scene, which doesn't necesasrily mean much. it does sound like, though from related storeis about him that he is a sick puppy obssesed with kids, so hopefully even if he isn't involved in jonbenet, they can nail him on something else. I think in the end, its about that DNA. Whoever matches the DNA is most likely the killer.

Comments that don't warrant a thread

i've heard that the japanese version of Dirge was kind of a trainwreck but that they overhauled the system to iron out those problems for US release. still havent played it though. -
but... isn't Ps3 supposed to be the "flashier" "more visual" system (with its better graphics but not so innovative gameplay, ie really dumb hot chick)?

i'm playing Dark Cloud 2 right now, though I haven't played the first. I have to say, this is a really nice little game, there's a ton of fun gameplay elements to it. In particular, idea building and the weapon leveling system are both genius. There's just a ton of stuff to do. It's very Zelda-ish, but in a good way. only gripe is some of the dungeons so far are a bit too long and repetetive with the hacking/slashing. some good puzzle solving in the dungeons would probably have elevated this game to greatness. it also seems unusually hard at times where I'm at. 2 hits can wipe out your HP. Its a nice alternative to Zelda though for those who dont have nintendo systems. -
you're remembering correclty, its just that a lot of that information was since shown to be wrong. The ransom note was actually something like 5% matched to the mother. Initially they reported that there were no signs of entry., and the media ran with it... later it was found that there was plenty, involving all the stuff i mentioned earlier. the grand jury even condemned the running of that investigation. it was clear the police before looking at any evidence decided the parents did it. i'm not saying they are absolutely not involved or anything but the physical evidence, window and surroundings, briefcase, boot and shoe prints that dont belong to the Ramseys, DNA evidence, all points to inturders. the ONLY thing to dispute all this physical evidence, is the web, which was found that that particular spider makes those webs in a matter of hours. as it regards Karr, i have to admit, it looks a lot shakier now. We'll see. but i absolutely believe based on PHYSICAL evidence that there was an intruder (regardless of if its karr or not), most likely 2 based on the prints, and that the Ramseys didn't actually do the physical killing.
-
there was no snow outside the window. that was another Boulder police fuckup.
-
I certainly think its possible that the parents were involved, but there is LOTS of physical evidence pointing to an intruder, as I mentioned before. The statement that there is no evidence of an intruder is FALSE, most likely derived from those initial days of the media frenzy when the Boulder police was fucking everything up and the media went along for the ride.
-
Why do people keep saying that there was no evidence of an intruder? There was quite a bit, starting with the basement window which had signs of being used for entry. There was a suitcase set up under it to use as a "boost" to clumb back out. Bootprints outside that window. Foreign Bootprints inside the house. Stun gun marks on her body. DNA evidence that doesn't match any of the family? There's all sorts of other little evidence around the open/broken window as well, like scuff marks, and debris from other parts of the basement around that window. Practically all the physical evidence points to someone coming in through the basement window and leaving that way.

any news on if his dna matches the dna found in fingernails/underwear of jonbenet? havent read anything concrete either way. that would make it a slam dunk case.

an accident? In other words, he knows the authorities have the goods on him and is now trying to get a lesser sentance. Rot in hell fuckbag!!!!! the parents thing is one of those things people seem to irrationally stick to. there were some oddities that might make them suspects, but never anything that screamed at me. At this point, they caught a guy, who apparently has some history of this stuff with girls, who confesses to it, and people still thik it was the parents? lol... that is what I call irrational.
