Pistons in desperate need of an inside offensive presence and easy shots. Like I said in the other thread, i'm in favor of dealing a Wallace for someone who can actually score inside. Sheed isn't versatile anymore, he's purely perimeter.

Comments that don't warrant a thread

If I play a PS1 game on my PS2, will it let me use my PS2 memory card to save progress, or do I need a PS1 card? (and if I need a ps1 card, uh why, isnt it the same architecture? makes no sense) -
The Ultimate Mario Bros. Showdown

gotta join in with the love for the Princess' float jump. Great ability. Really useful in that game. Luigi's wiggling feet was always distracting. -
while it would suck just from a general standpoint to see Ben in another jersey, i wouldn't hate this deal at all. Personally, Rasheed has been on my shitlist these playoffs, he lays egg after egg, then has 1 good game, followed by 4 more eggs. He refuses to play consistently in the post hes no longer versatile, he's a tall 2 guard. Wouldnt be so bad if Ben had offense, but Ben doesn't which means no low post threats at all. not to mention his incessant whining. I've grown sick of his bullshit. I wonder if Isiah is interested in Sheed, i'd support a Sheed for Frye + another decent player (like crawford or q-rich, and before knicks fans ask why oh why the knicks would go older and give up their best prospect, i say, hey its isiah, it doesnt have to make a lot of sense, rasheed is a 'name' who gets along well with larry brown. hell he'd probably toss in a 1st round pick just for the hell of it). all in all though i'm in favor of dumping one of the wallaces for something good.

^sounds promising. I like the bit about servicing the character relationships more than the mythology. I actually thought they spent too much time pacing out and doling out information (what was it, 2 or 3 episodes where the climax was characters walking through a new hatch?)

the guard oriented offense is basically because they're a jump shooting team, which ties in with how I was saying they NEED a low post presence, someone to get easy points in the paint. Sheed's all about the jumpers and as you said takes too many games off. If Ben stays, I actually think Rasheed is the most expendable, he's hurts just as much as helps, and his attitude seems to have gotten worse as the playoffs have gone on. Then there's the thing to consider that Billups is up for a big payday in 07. He probably has the highest trade value, what team besides Phoenix wouldn't want him? Imagine LAL with billups at point, or denver? Really I'd say Tayshaun is close to untouchable, he's been rock solid the last 2-3 years, and is still the youngest. If they wanna go younger they should definatly keep him around. as disapointing as the playoffs have been, there is a part of me that's a bit excited abuot the offseason. before this, trade proposals and signings have been a moot point other than a role player here or there, because the core 5 were 'untouchable', now i'm already reeling off a few (slightly) off the wall trade ideas. its the fun stuff that other teams go through every summer, but in this case, all 5 of the starters can be considered solid trading assets.

well personally i'd love to see flip gone, and steal someone like mike fratello, hubie brown, or even lambier (don't laugh, i actually think if he could get one good offensive post player, he would do really well)... but the truth is, dumping flip now really makes the pistons unattractive for prospective coaches, its essentially "win a title or get fired" with a team that didnt even reach the finals. plus it lets the players off scot-free, they're also stinking it up. I'm sure fellow piston fans have heard this phrase before: "we've been there before, we know what we have to do", as almost a defacto "dont worry about flip" re-assurance from the players. Well that's a load of bunk. they've lost the magical sync that made them a great collective unit. I think some change has to be made but I'm not even sure what other than generic "offensive post presence" and "slasher".
-
well assume he's gonna stay, or that its ambigious enough to do a sign and trade so that option's open. anyone have any thoughts on changes?
-
so if the Pistons lose (which they probably will), what sort of changes do you forsee, or would you make? This makes the assumption that Joe D is at least semi-serious about still making a run for the title next year. That's a tricky situation if there ever was one, but I think its possible the starting 5 may hit their "wall", most cores of really good teams hit a wall after a certain number of years, which is why those 3 peat Lakers team couldn't just stay pat and they lost to SAS, looking old and tired. the old Bad Boys in '91 and then '92 were clearly not the same as just two years earlier. Even the vaunted 2nd 3-peat Bulls team had a tougher time in their last year. They could really use a strong post presence (on the offensive end) isntead of bigs who either just shoot jumpers (Sheed/Dice) or have no offense (Ben). As well as a consistent slasher (no more jump shooters).

i'm also somewhat amused by how whenever Gambit speaks, the word mon-ami somehow always finds its way in there, regardless of it makes any sense or not (like... "i'm the true mon-ami!")

something about the guy's voice makes me laugh. and i like when jubilee goes "feel the wrath of the daughter of bret hart!"
-
damn. i'm the lifelong pistons fan and even i'm not as upset as Dama
-
well so much for this season. um.... go Dallas!!!!

the new generation looks like ass if you ask me. (your cue to say: 'hey metr0man, how does the new generation of systems look to you?' to which i will respond: "looks like ass.") I'm somewhat interested in how smooth and useable the Wii-mote is, but nothing other than mario/zelda impresses me as far as games announced. xbox360 just seems too PC-ish to me, and not enough of an improvemnet over xbox, and ps3, well with that price forget about it. ps2 is still going well, ff12, god of war 2, rogue galaxy as well as a few other games im still looking forward to.

i dont think anyone expected the shiar or phoenix to be flying around blasting whole planets or anything too spacey, but i dont feel it really stuck to the spirit of the comics, being that phoenix is probably the most famous and beloved xmen story (but I will give them credit for not pussying out on the ending and just flat out having logan kill jean). I think ian McKellen really saved this movie, he's just so damn good, that he even makes scenes with retarted looking leather gothy people into good scenes. I like the fact that he's been a dominant presence in all 3 movies and is being treated like it. Batman should take note when they (re)do the Joker, there's no need to get rid of your best villian after one film.

What!? OH HELL NO thats fuckin bullshit.

funniest part of that video is when Jubilee is shooting fireworks and he goes "feel the wrath of bret hart's daughter!!!"

been watching Lost season 1. there's that scene where Sayid is showing Jack that the compass is busted. a small magnetic anomoly would cause a small variation, but this was a big variation, well now we know there was a big magnetic anomoly causing that.

it was ok, after a while I settled in and just enjoyed the action and Ian McKellen's always awesome line delivery. I also thought the ending with logan and jean was good in that they didn't pussy out. other than that it was kind of corny. I cringed a lot early on at some corny setups and pointless mutant displays but the 2nd half seemed better.

i finally saw neon genesis evangelion (not actually done with it yet), i actually really like it, though i'm dreading the apparently much maligned budget cut ending. the 'end' movie is on netflix with a very long wait. i wonder is there some point where i can just skip over this supposedly shitty ending and go to the movie? i tend to agree shinji is a bit annoying, but i like the character interactions btwn the pilots. Anybody got any views on "Last Exile", "Wolf's Rain" or "X"? These sounded interesting from descriptions and reviews.

this has to be the most ref-driven playoffs EVER. it seems like EVERy series there are vast amounts of referee bullshit going in all different directions.

Nice try DICK.

wow, flip actually playing the bench. and he gave the pistons yesterday off for rest. two smart things, i'm actually shocked. the bench didnt do taht much but i'm shocked the underrated delfino played. pistons arent great at holding leads though.

pretty much every reaction i've seen or heard to the film has ranged from "meh" to "pretty entertaining, nothing fabulous, 7 or 8 outta 10". So what exactly were the critics ripping it for? It really seems like these critics just didn't like the whole 'da vinci code phenomenon' to begin with before even seeing the movie.

i dont believe it because its not even feasible. i mean, hello, ebay? how do you stop any random videogame store from selling the game used? makes no sense.
