ECW gets a normal time slot

remember when Jericho brought out the apes from plante of the apes to prance around stephanie mcmahon? Imagine the scifi crossover possibilities. Planet of the Apes followed by the Apes prancing around RVD in ecw. Vince is a genius!

    LOST

Great episode. Got to see the others, got a few tantalizing hints, got to see Michael's missing time, and set up a great finale. As long as the season finale doesn't climax with the lostaways finding an empty hatch and strolling through it, it should be good.

    NBA Playoffs 2006: Conference Semifinals

Wallace isn't suspended. Reggie misspoke and later corrected himself. Sheed has 3 techs in the playoffs. you get suspended on your 7th.

    NBA Playoffs 2006: Conference Semifinals

I'm really starting to get an uncomfortable '04 Lakers vibe from the Pistons. Even though the score was close through most of the 1st half, the Cavs were clearly outplaying them, its like the 04 Finals all over again. Hope I'm wrong. the fact that Flip Saunders is a shitty coach doesn't help (this isn't bandwagon bashing i've been on the 'flip is overrated' kick since at least midseason)

    Wiiiiii!!!!

you guys are right, for some reason sony's loss-leader thing didnt enter in my mind. I had figured that the ridiculously high cost of the ps3 maybe covered the cost of the system.

    NBA Playoffs 2006: Conference Semifinals

This must be the (in)famous Game 6. That game takes a lot of flack but I recently watched the 4th quarter a couple of weeks back, and it's an awesome awesome game, or at least that quarter is. The crowd heat is incredible, it's close all the way down the stretch, and it has a very football vibe to it, in the sense that becuase its so low scoring every shot takes on huge significance. It's also lays some seeds for the brawl (which was the next time Artest visited the Palace), the hatred was so palpable i'm surprised people didnt rush onto artest on the court. It's an infamous Artest meltdown, after the flagrant, he makes some really bewildering plays in crunch time (including a bizarre play where he tries to play ben wallace one on one while out past the 3 point line, driving in to try to dunk on him), like he suddenly decided he was gonna stick it to the pistons rather than help the team win.

    Wiiiiii!!!!

Interesting. They have to be careful though, because in a crowded competitor marketplace, when one thing is vastly cheaper than the others, mass audiences have responded by considering the really low priced item to be secondary, cheap, and not a high-level item. Forget about what people say, look at how they act. It also means they have to sell three times the amount of Wii's than PS3s to make the same money. It's going to be an interesting videogame battlle.

    E3 2006: The Thread

boy the next generation of systems looks pretty shitty. the graphical improvement in actual in-game play isn't that striking. ps2 and xbox360 feels like more of the same. Wii has an interesting controller with potential but that's about it. having heard from a few people who actually used it at E3, its apparently less impressive than it sounds.

Comments that don't warrant a thread

the book was one big chase/fight sequence with stretches of exposition in between. Sounds like perfect videogame material to me.

    Bit Torrent for LOST

try mininova.org and/or torrentspy.com for torrents of Lost. You may have to use the search function. As far as the programs go, there are lots of programs. The most basic one is here: http://www.bittorrent.com/ If you want to poke around with Google, "Burst" and "Azureus" are also good bittorrent clients.

we really need to get Hillary into office so the Republicans will suddenly realize what's so bad about this and maybe do something.

    LOST

this episode just convinced me the writers are just making shit up as they go along. the whole hatch numbers thing exists soley to eat up a year of airtime and milk high ratings. and hey look, it's almost the end of the season, and we're getting back to the point where "there's something else possibly supernatural going on", except now we think it's UNDER the psychology expirement. the whole thing is TIME-WASTING filler. Why do you think there's no real hint of Dharma or computers or any of that shit in season 1? All the "revelations" of this season are all DHARMA revelations.

    NBA Playoffs 2006: Conference Semifinals

They don't need to go hunting at every player who can score points in search of a "Scottie Pippen", they need someone who can play GREAT DEFENSE alongside Lebron (and Kobe, and AI, and all the other "we need to get him some help" wing or guard players). You could drop Larry Hughes and put in a Bowen, Artest, Ben Wallace, and then that team could be very very good (putting aside the fact that Artest plays the same pos as Lebron, but you get my point). Really its up to Cleveland's management now, if they realize the team needs guys who can dominate the other side of the game rather than someone who just puts up 20 points per game. Naiwf makes a great point about Scottie Pippen. People don't remember because he played with MJ but Pippen was an awesome player on his own. And, of course, he was a very good defender. Not to mention horace grant or dennis rodman (pick era), and that MJ himself was a tenacious defender. The Bulls were a great defensive team.

    NBA Most Valuable Player

if the Lakers were a great team, or a top 3 in the conference, etc, than that argument would make more sense. They're a 7th seed barely over five hundred. he's the difference between a crappy team and an average team, not between a crappy team and a very good team.

wait a second, Isiah is going to let Kenyon get away?!?!? Dude, he's a headcase with a bad contract, how can you not get him Isiah!? I personally feel betrayed by him.

    NBA Playoffs 2006: Conference Semifinals

its because of the Golden Boy Lebron. Forget that the other team playing are legit title contenders and fantastic teams, its Lebron who gets the slot, even if it makes the western 60 win teams play at 11 am (west time).

    NBA Playoffs 2006: Conference Semifinals

If Dallas can beat San Antonio, than both Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash can both suck on it in the "battle for the REAL MVP" because Dirk will be real one. I like all of these matchups. SA over Dallas in 7 Clippers over Phoenix in 6 (!!!!!!!!!! being optimistic I know) Miami over New Jersey in 7 Detroit over Cleveland in 5 (i actually flip flop between 5 and 6 here, I think Cle can push it to 6 but I'm going to be swayed by homer emotions here)

    TSM 2006 NBA Playoffs thread

At least the Clippers will have fans rooting for them in their home games now This was a fun series. I never had a strong preference either way, but I think i'm happy with the outcome, just because the constant kobe highlights were wearing thin. when kobe and the lakers are getting more coverage than the Mavs, pistons, and the spurs, all of whom are great teams, there's something wrong. This is more a criticism of the media than the Lakers though. The Lakers pretty much failed in the first 5-10 minutes, when the score was 16-6 or something. Phoenix was already on track for the "magic 100" point number.

    TSM 2006 NBA Playoffs thread

We'll see if Phil is earning his money tonight. The Lakers need to have huge games from Kwame and Odom, and they need to keep the score in the 90s and not go over 100. If the score is something like 105 or 110 up during the last few minutes, phoenix is winning, i dont care how close it is at the time.

um, if the guy's new and doesn't know the Bulls-Cleveland story, one single picture of Jordan celebrating doesn't say anything other than maybe the Bulls won. Jordan made a VERY FAMOUS buzzer beating game winning shot over Craig Ehlo at the end of Game 5. You've probably seen it in commercials and such. edit: err nevermind.
