pretty good episode... unfortunatly I made the mistake of watching season 1's "tabula rasa" and "walkabout" right before it (I was with a Lost newbie who's watching the dvds), and I realize this Lost isn't even a pimple on the ass of the Lost that made me a hardcore addict.

Kwame: 8/9, Odom: 8/14. Gee maybe they should have stuck to phil's gameplan of pounding it to the inside man, especially during crunch time. Lakers were regular season Lakers tonight all the way. simply not playing the way they played in games 1-4.
-
lakers really seem to have reverted to "regular season" lakers here at the end and in OT. kobe with 30+ shots, huge scoring night, the rest of the laker players looking sluggish and out of rhythm, little ball movement.
-
Lakers defense has absolutely collapsed here. Open shots and easy layups and dunks and lop-layups for Phoenix all around.
-
I keep flip flopping on who I want to win this game. I think i've settled on phoenix, because it'd be nice for the Clippers to actually have some HOME games rather than a 7 game away series. either way the semis should be fun.

thank god the Bond franchise is getting a do-over. All the "hallmarks" of the Bond series were just so old and stale.

Looks pretty cool, but it seems so small scale. Lets get some real epic-ness going. Superman fighting a giant robot over metropolis or something, something that really makes you go 'holy shit'!

Stephen Colbert targets President, media, and more @ White House Corre

awesome. we were reading and quoting some of Colbert's lines and just cracking up in the office yesterday. and I laugh at the media for not being able to take a little hit, especially considering how spot on he was. SOme lines I liked, because not only were they funny, there's this creepy undercurrent of truth behind them as well: -
i gotta totally agree with the TNT guys. really bad defense. Lebron just waltzed in there, lol! And apparently washington HAD a timeout with 0.9 seconds........ and instead had Arenas take a 3/4 court shot. wtf?

wow, talk about a massacre. It's gotten a bit closer now during bench time (17-20 last I checked), but at one point the Pistons were up by 34. i think they're ready for round 2.

Comments that don't warrant a thread

are any of the star wars games on ps2 good, or are they all licensed crap? Back on the PSX there used to be this series called Colony Wars, which was a blast to play, it was like being dropped into a star wars or B5 space dogfight. is there anything like that on ps2? -

I picked up one of those 129.99 ps2s the other day. Though I'd play a lot of Ps2 from friends, I kinda skipped this iteration of games, so a lot of good stuff is unplayed by me, and I'm not the type to pay 300-400 for any console which means i'll still be playing after ps3 comes out. I got God of War with it. Cool stuff, though it doesn't seem to have that much depth (i only finished one level though, the Hydra ship). Though its fun as hell to just steam roll through a level, ripping people apart left and right and hitting 15+ hit combos. I picked up Tony Hawk's underground 2 and SSX 3 on eBay for cheap. I'm still looking to get a hold of final fantasy x but it seems all the stores here are out of copies. I'll probably get MGS 3 and GTA San Andreas next. Anybody else with recommendations of *great* essential ps2 games, by all means let me know. i've been researching and Burnout 3 and Shadow of the Colossus keep coming up, so maybe I'll give those a try. Is Colossus a short game? that's the impression i've been getting, though it sounds cool, i don't know if I want something i'll finish in a rental. -
Sac and Chi both lost. I think their upset hopes were basically doomed when they couldn't win one of the first two on the road. 3 away games, and not a single win.

Somewhat related note. remember the little flap about the national anthem sung in spanish? how it should only be in english, and a few people are even outraged, calling it sickening, or whatnot? There's a funny note on Drudge about how the US actually commissioned a Spanish version many years back (early 1900s), and that there are 4 seperate spanish versions on the state dept's site. No serious issue, I just enjoy laughing at people who get OUTRAGED~! I wonder if the OUTRAGE~ will now be leveled against the state department.

Look at where the far ref's head is, how is he not seeing that? I don't even think that's possible. though its worth noting that the "jump ball" moment might have been a few secs later. You cant see the ball in that pic. Anyways, enough about that game. I like the Clips, their balance and team play. I'm going to go ahead and predict it, in the "hallway series" between the LA teams... Clippers in 6. Should be a great series, assuming the Lakers hold on.
-
They've got Washington or Cleveland. I'd prefer Cleveland.
-
win or lose, Flip IS really overrated this season though. he doesn't know jack about defense (it's usually ben wallace who calls out the team when they play a stretch of bad defense), everything with him is about offense. Try asking him specifics about getting beat on something defensively and he'll find some way to twist it into a comment about offensive execution, has put very little emphasis on rebounding, and he's just BAD at rotations and has been for mostly the whole season. its all very arbitrary. He's lucky he has a veteren team who plays well together and who can on their own play defense.

I played (and liked) the PSX metal gear solid game many years ago. I've never touched MGS2 or 3 on Ps2 though. Do MGS2 and 3 flow storywise? I was thinking of playing them, and 3 is the newer (and apparently better based on reviews), so am I going to lose anything major if I jump straight to MGS3 and skip Part 2?
-
apparently, nash is saying he didnt try to call a timeout, it was Diaw calling it. At one point Diaw points to the ref I dont know if that was when he called it or not, but by that time, lakers had a hand on the ball.
-
boy the next series will suck for the Clips, it'll basically be a road series all 7 games.
-
WHOA! the parker strip on nash looked clean to me on the kajillion replays they showed. don't know if the final regulatrion play with jones was clean or not.
-
I didn't catch the Bulls game. was there some incident or something with the Heat in a timeout late in the game? I'm seeing references to it on another board.
-
could someone clarify... Metal Gear Solid 3: Substinence... is this an add-on expansion type thing to MGS3: Snake Eater, or does it have the whole snake eater game plus the other stuff? If I'm buying MGS3, I should go straight for Substinence?

Game 2's loss for the Kings wasn't a fluke, they played horrible defense on the 3 (FOUR GUYS were in or near the paint when the 3 point shot went down......... when they were up by 3, ridiculous). Bad decision making in the clutch is the mark of an inferior team. Same with Chicago in games 1 and 2. In both cases, I think the underdog really NEEDS to win one of those first 2 on the road to have a chance at the series (the way the lakers did), and Sac/Chi both blew it. (though nothing would make me happier than seeing Miami lose in the 1st round, i highly doubt it)

its somewhat shocking to watch this game and see kobe have so much trust in the rest of the team. where the hell did that come from? he was kicking out and around so many times.
