    This week in the NBA

Anyone catch the new Jordan/shoes (i think it was shoes) commercial? It was really really cool, it had various kids and high school players re-enacting the classic Jordan moments, right down to the mannerisms and the defense players (like Ehlo collapsing from 89 or Russell tripping on the court in 98)

    NBA All-Star Weekend

on a semi-related note, the Yao Ming documentary, The Year of the Yao, aired right after the rookie broadcast. It was pretty good, though a bit dated (since it was about his first year). It was weird seeing Rudy T, Francis, and Cuttino Mobley all the time as Yao's teammates.

    LOST

it really starts to seem like Sayid, Charlie, and maybe Sawyer could be the start of a rebel faction.... all who have grudges against the others and GUNS! All I know is if Sawyer and Sayid ever teamed up for real, everybody, losties, tailies, others, would all be fucked.

    LOST

werent the images after the countdown the same images that are supposedly in the middle of the various DHARMA logos? an arrow, i dont remember if there was a swan on the timer or not. I dont know, that whole thing was kinda weak. the stuff with sayiid was good. Interesting that now Sayid, Charlie, and Sawyer you could argue are maybe forming a little rebel group that is really pissed at the others. and they got guns.

The Shield, season 5, official thread

daaaaamn Cavanaugh was hardcore in this episode. his manipulating Corrine into talking was brilliantly done. The 'dont tell me you didn't know' was expert. I'm actually rooting for the magnificent bastard now

    ENRON

was this one of the movies expirementing with the release windows? ie, releasing it to theater and then releasing the DVD very soon after? I think mark cuban's company released this.

    This week in the NBA

Apparently this deal is virtually done according to Buecher of ESPN, they're just going back and forth over the level of protection. I dont particularly like it though, although maybe we can pick somebody worthwhile in the draft.

    24: Season 5

the episode had a very 'been there done that' feeling this week (although it was awesome to see Jack go all heroic by saving the kid. Not only is he a badass killing and torturing machine, he saves kids too! Jack of all trades). The stuff with Cummings and Logan and Jack was high drama, but they haven't rebounded yet to the next cool situation. Maybe the whole 'he disobeyed Logan's order' thing will take us there.

    LOST

I'm psyched. LOST BABY LOST! Anyone know if there are any more breaks in the season? If any show needs to switch to 24, The Shield, Battlestar like "non-stop seasons", its LOST.

    Foley Is Blog: Cheap heat?

i think foley's a big enough name that he can get away with it, as long as he doesnt accuse Vince of fucking children or whatnot. meh, vince would probably find a way to make that into a tasteless angle. and the defenders will point to a CSI episode with a child molester.

of course he does, he knows its his job to ruin the Knicks franchise as a Pistons agent. Him and Joe D are still working together! Next stop... hmm... how about Cleveland or Miami, Isiah? (relax knicks fans, i'm kidding. sort of.)

    Super Bowl XL

I have to say, that was one of the worst officiating I'd ever seen... and I was rooting for Pittsburgh. I mean wow. I'd be bitter if I wanted Seattle to win.

    Hamas wins big in elections

What I think is weird is people buying into the candyland fantasy of us WANTING democracy in the Middle East. Why the fuck would we want democracy in the middle east??? I'm no genius, but I knew from day one of the "Democracy in Middle East Parade", if you gave them the right to determine their own future through voting............. they were gonna choose a path that is, shall we say, not in the best interests of US or Israel. It's not shocking in the least, and I think its fairly pathetic that we seem to have been caught by surprise with our pants down. Now of course, we can't go out and start giving aid to HAMAS, and they're not going to disarm and renounce their creed or whatever, and the people aren't going to suddenly turn on Hamas, because wtf, they voted them in, in elections that WE PUSHED them to do. What a great message: "Democracy: Pick Who We Want or you're fucked." How is that going to win any hearts and minds, and how is that all much better than a dictatorship or islamofascist gov? And yet, you can hardly blame us for being pissed about fucking Hamas in charge and wanting it changed. So basically, a bad Middle East situation has just been made worse. *claps*

Thomas Haden Church cast as villain for Spider-Man

Brock Lesner? Vince Vaughn? Vin Diesel!? ahahahahahaaaaaaaaaa. Yeah, noooooooooo. An evil Spider-Man sounds a hell of lot more interesting than Vin Diesel or Brock Lesner (ahahahahahahahahaahahhaah)

^ yeah, i think the idea was that there was a slight possibility that Rose woulda been cut via Amnesty Rule as finley was (this was before the particulars of the clause were real), and then Joe D would try to sign him to a lower amount. Then the Amnesty thing turned out to be stricter than thought and that idea disappeared. as far as the tampering idea goes that is absolutely evil and brilliant at the same time

    This week in the NBA

Toronto already has two 1st round picks this draft, which is why they were willing to give up this one (which would have been their 3rd 1st rounder in this draft). This according to the guys ESPN. As far as the Knicks go, I think Rose is a decent addition who could help them. I was kinda hoping in the off-season that Dumars could get Jalen Rose as our backup swingman (but I am happy with Delfino/Evans combo so far). Still, the Knicks don't seem to have any sense of what kind of team they're building. its been that way all along, pieces and assets.

Thomas Haden Church cast as villain for Spider-Man

The idea with Topher Grace is to make Venom a "dark mirror" of Spider-Man, so basically a Peter Parker esque nerdy guy. Topher and Tobey seem very similar.

    This week in the NBA

correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm fairly sure that Yao Ming leads all votes in paper ballots (paper ballots I think are US only, or possibly North American only, but they definetly don't have them in China, in fact i think Shaq led online voting)... so if you lifted the china votes out he still starts, so why does everyone get on the Asia's case for it? Yao's a big name, regardless of his numbers (which dont suck, people act like he's kwame or darko). Every year there are players who aren't having great seasons who start because of popularity. Yao is no different.
  23. this is nothing new, its well known that WWE does distasteful shit and Vince is sick in lots of ways. I'm just amused that every time they do an awful angle thre are still people that buy into it and defend it.

    This week in the NBA

Rasheed's getting a little too 3 happy. he kept jacking them up and went 1 for 12. i'm not too torn up about the loss though, I think we were due. Too many of the last few games have been close, houston, milwaukee, memphis, even the letdown at the end against the lakers.

    Hamas wins big in elections

Hamas got elected? I think it's become pretty clear that this 'democracy' thing is becoming a clear hindrance in the fight against terror. We're really gonna have to fight against this terrorist-loving ideology democracy ideology.
