the other thing that bothers me about the Knicks is that when Isiah has been putting together the roster, I never ever get a sense (and maybe i'm not paying enough attention I dunno) of what sort of team he wants to build? An up tempo team, 3 pt shooting team, half court team, hard-nosed D, fast break, etc etc. The whole point of course of having a style of play is so you can target players who fit that system as GM. One time the guys on TNT were talking about this, and they rattled off a team of middling teams and indeed I couldn't "place" a style of play on those teams, its just a bunch of players. Now, this season, finally, picking up LB seems to suggest Thomas is pushing the team towards certain style of play... except the makeup of players on the team doesn't seem to match that style of team AT ALL, and there haven't been any moves made yet to make it so. I've always felt that Isiah should have, from the start (though its too late now), made moves to make the Knicks a real run and gun up tempo type team. It might not have been a big winning team initially but it could at least bring some excitement to New York and the league and make their games fun to watch. Last year's Phoenix Suns? Thats what the Knicks shoulda been aiming for.

I finally caught up on all the episodes. I love this show. It's awesome. So much so that I might actually watch this on Wednesdays and download LOST later. Overall, I was thinking that I liked Season 1 better, I miss the rebel outsider Veronica, she seems a little too "in" this season, but the last couple of episodes of this season have been really good. I'm most looking forward to a Logan/Weevil team-up to find Felix's killer. I just hope its not something obvious like that one guy from Weevil's band killing Felix n placing the knife in Logan's hand. I get the impression that the guy who woke Logan up on the roadside, the trucker or whatnot, had something to do with it. This show juggles plotlines so well, everything's intersecting so well, I feel like there's a ton of possibilities for the bus crash. Could be someone trying to kill Veronica as she initially suspected, could be someone trying to kill Meg and the baby, could be an 09er trying to kill "lower class-ers" (somehow set into motion the limo thing to get all the 09ers off), could be someone trying to kill 09ers (not knowing Dick would call in a limo), could be Kendall trying to kill Dick/Beav, someone trying to kill the mayor's daughter Gia, etc etc. Wallace's return made for a great ending, but the downside is the awful "Jackie is jealous of Veronica" subplot is probably gonna come back *groans* Lamb is hilarious. Duncan is incredibly boring, so I hope he starts getting his seizures/rage/fits again. This latest episode with the stolen tapes also makes me wonder if its possible the Aaron Echolls trial goes the way of OJ and he gets off.

Here we go: http://forums.thesmartmarks.com/index.php?...topic=71108&hl= or a direct link to the (very comprehensive) info of the lost series: http://www.kryptonsite.com/brucewayne/

initially WB was going to do a young Bruce Wayne series, but it got shelved and Smallville got greenlite ahead. Last year, a review of the pilot script and bible for this lost series was released, and it sounded pretty badass. Harvey Dent filled the kind of role Lex has on Smallville, as the best friend who eventually becomes the enemy. I made a thread about it some time back, let me see if I can find it.

I just can't see that team winning when built around Marbury, and I never could.

um isn't there like a manual or something?

the trailer is out over at quicktime.com 's movie trailer section.

i would agree that this season they are not being disrespected. i would also agree that they were slightly before the season began, being ranked as 4th, i can see a proven winner feeling a little disrespected by that, but now they are getting their due, with such an outstanding record, anybody who doesnt looks like a fool.

I have to say, I love it when Ebert absolutely loathes a movie. His zero and 1 star reviews are always without exception hilarious.

Where can I download The Shield season 4?
bobobrazil1984 replied to Lt. Al Giardello's topic in Television & Film
on a semi-related note, I caught the tail end of a Season 5 trailer, and I might have been crazy but I coulda sworn I heard John Cena's rap as the music for it. -
blue plastic cup people, not a bottle! not that a blue cup couldn't hurt you when hit in a specific area at the right angle, but tis different than a glass bottle.

Chauncy is such a cold-blooded assassin sometimes. He's one of the best all around PGs in the league, if you look at everything, not just PPG. It'll be a crime if he doesn't make the all star team. the guy's a real floor general this year.

i dont care much either way (ghost written biographies are the devil), but it'd be funny to see the skeith haters rage about this.

yes, the mask was indeed modeled after Guy Fawkes in the comic. Boy I wonder how much the right-wingers are gonna rip this movie apart? From what I see, it looks fairly faithful to Alan Moore's brilliant comic. I can see actual scenes and plot points straight from it. Natalie Portman looks like an inspired casting choice and Hugo Weaving is a great "V".

i think its funny that its only his agent talking now. He's not saying a word anymore. nice attempt at damage control

^ i was listening to the Clips game on the radio, which I do somewhat regularly on wdfn.com since i'm out of MI these days. Usually the announcers are usually a little slow to call the play until a few secs after it happens, since its radio, so I was sort of listening to the crowd to guage whether the home team scored or whether the Pistons scored, and its usually easy to tell, but that Clips game I had no idea, since you'd hear a loud cheer whenever anybody scored.

24, Battlestar Galactica, Lost, and Veronica Mars? That's a good fucking list.

Something's been bugging me the last few weeks. Both the righties and lefties. WTF are they arguing about? The "We will stay there until the job is done!!!!" people are fools. As are the "we must get out now!!!!!!!!!!!" people. Anybody with a lick of common sense knows what's going to happen. Bush is prodding and poking, looking for a "declare victory" moment, and the moment (MOMENT) it comes, the troops come out. The troops will be back within a year and a half, whether the job is done or not. Bush just neesd that moment. So the lefties need to stop bleating like idiots and have patience and the righties need to get their heads out of their asses. The troops are coming back. under a year is my guess. He may do it in 3 or 4 "gradual pullout" moments within the year and a half. Regardless of whether Iraq is a "shining beacon of democracy" or not, Bush wants those troops back too, Iraq is pulling him down and messing up his term. Its simple politics. It'll happen, soon. Hell, there's a speech planned for Sunday night by Bush. With the recent elections, I'm already sensing we're nearing a possible "declare victory!" moment for Bush, as soon as he sees an opening the troops are out.

the Pacers are fools if they don't at least try to get a good bigman for their frontcourt. Notice how every season J O'Neal gets injured? He's always banging around alone in there, who else do they have? A bunch of average players. The other team puts their best frontcourt defender on him then he plays the best the other team has. Even without psycho ron, give him another big man down low, and they can play against Shaq/Zo and the Wallaces without J'Oneal always taking the brunt. Year after year, its the same problems with the Pacers, this will be the 3rd year straight they've had these problems and they never do anything to fix them: 1) Artest does something stupid (even before last year, remember the stunt with the migraine and not flying with the team before GAME 6 of the ECF? the flagrant, and even worse the awful jacked up airball 3? I remember up to that point I was on the edge of my seat as a pistons fan, then i broke out in laughter and never had another tense moment). 2) Tinsley gets injured, 3) J'Oneal gets injured. I suggest, package Artest/Tinsley for a really solid big man, PF or C (and graduate Sarunas to PG), and have the new guy start alongside JO at either PF or C whichever is better suited, similar to Wallace Squared (who are actually both PFs). Even better if you can also get a backup PG in the deal. I heard someone suggest K-Mart, which is not a bad option except he's also injury prone which is probably not what Indy needs. something along those lines though. Then fill other positions as the season progresses, with future needs being 1) a pg to backup Sarunas, and 2) a wingman to play along with granger to fill the SF spot. Remember when Dumars traded Stackhouse for Rip? He did that because he needed consistency. It didnt matter if Stackhouse was a "name" or he put up 20 pts, consistency was needed, and Rip Hamilton provided that (as does Chauncy Billups). Jamaal Tinsley is not consistent, in neither health or play. With a strong 2-man frontcourt set, the team is in position to contend, all they need to do is strengthen up the backcourt. Having a strong back + frontcourt I feel is better than having your talent concentrated on the wing, ESPECIALLY if your a half-court team. I've seen way too many teams with great players who dont do anything becasue their frontcourt isn't strong enough (hello NJ). if Tinsley and/or Jermaine gets injured again this season, you'll know I was right. memo to Indy, get yourself another big man, stat. (as a PIstons fan I hope they ignore everything I just said and get a guard or SF)

If they win the title this year they should absolutely be considered one of the greatest modern teams. That would be one quarter short of a 3-peat. This year their offense has improved by leaps and bounds... but their defense and rebounding has slipped a bit, it concerns me a wee bit because high scoring teams fall in the playoffs all the time while D and reboudns pull you through, but they are and have been my pick to win it all. If Dumars can just pull off one big trade to get a SOLID and CONSISTENT bench addition instead 3 inconsistent up n down guys, they'll be unstoppable. yes i'm a big pistons fan, and I love the starting five. I also feel that they dont have superstar PERSONALITIES... because at this piont, if Chauncy or Rip were traded to a shitty team tomorrow, they'd be putting up 25 points up and be considered "superstars", so i personally dont agree with the "they dont have any all-stars/superstars" on their team. I honestly feel the backcourt is sacrificing stardom to play together and WIN. Which is why both should be on the All Star team ahead of some guards on bad teams who have more PPG.

As I understand, it essentially came down to having to choose between either him or Rasheed Wallace. They were both FAs that summer (the one right after the title). Well they could have had both if Okur had taken *considerably* less than Utah was offering. Also I believe Okur wasn't happy with his minutes under LB as a reserve, 'specially after Rasheed Wallace came to town. I suppose they could have gone way over the cap to get em both, but there'd still be the minutes issue, and also the larger goal was keeping enough money/cap room handy to sign Tayshaun (done now), and especially Ben Wallace this summer. A lot of $$ moves over the past 2-3 years have been done specifically for "ben wallace money", they've even said so publicly in detroit papers.

The 63rd Annual Golden Globe Nominations...
bobobrazil1984 replied to Mole's topic in Television & Film
I'm still working through season 1 of VM, but it really is an incredible show, one of the best on TV. I'll stick to DVDs with this show though especially since it appears to be on opposite Lost. as to why its not getting nominated, well duh, 1) it has teenage characters and 2) its not popular. None of which has to do with its quality, but whatever. -
^ meh, all good teams lose lose to a crappy team sometime, ie the Hawks beating S.A. the other night. Road back to backs can be tough, tiredness coupled with lots of winning leads to a letdown. SA was on the tail end of a back to back also with the hawks too i think. for the record I do think the Pistons have a few deficiencies that are being overlooked because of their winning, but it was stuff that I thought back when they were winning and not out of nowhere cuz they lost. For instance, they do get outrebounded fairly regularly, which is a bit alarming. the only other thing I see is that the starters need more rest (Ben Wallace especially), which means getting the bench to a better consistency.
