With the Batman fever... thought people might be interested in this. Its information on the Young Bruce Wayne series that WB was going to launch, but eventually didn't cause of the movies and went with Smallville instead... I always thought it was an idiotic idea... but after reading this, I really think it would have beaten the snot out of Smallville. http://www.kryptonsite.com/brucewayne/ There's an overall series outline... a detailed act-by-act synopsis of the pilot script, and a bunch of behind the scenes info.

yeah it was like, a video diary crossover or something, heh
-
yeah i saw peter jackson when he cameo'd in one of Singer's Superman video diaries, it was pretty shocking. I know people gave him flack for being this fat dude... but the thin PJ is just... i dont know, creepy and ugh. Some people really are better looking fat (anybody see star jones try to lose some weight once?), just cuz it gives PJ the sort of jolly santa-hobbit vibe which is pretty likeable to most people.

I find Batman Returns to be an interesting and weirdly cool tim burton movie, that's always watchable. as a batman movie its really disapointing though. I think I'll pick up the SE of the 89 Batman.

The writer has actually said in an interview that the plan is to do Joker in the next one, and then have Two-Face in the third (possibly being scarred during Joker's trial). of course there's no guarantee david goyer will be back, so we'll see. -
Young Bruce Wayne... the lost series

It would have violently raped Birds of Prey again and again. All three of them. -
its even worse because Duncan was just choking left and right. i've mentioned it three times nwo but i still cant believe 'sheed ran away from horry like that, he may have cost pistons the championship right there. everybody in the universe knew that if horry had the slightest amount of space he was gonna take the 3 (and make it).
-
i'm still in shock. how could they be so inept to leave robert horry, mr clutch and literally the only guy who had anything going for the spurs, wide open? aaaah!
-
rasheed wallace should be slapped across the face for leaving robert horry.
-
man i know everybody wants a close game but dammit i'm a pistons fan, i want them to pull away way before that. toooo nervous here. If the SPurs lose here, Duncan will catch so much shit. He has missed a TON of critical shots, including like 5 FTs in the fourth.
-
holy shit, wallace almost had a chris webber moment there! he is so lucky time ran out It was hilarious, Billups ran right up to him yelling "what the fuck are you doing!?!?" ok maybe he didnt say that, but tghats what the body language said.
-
i'd like to think everybody's busy watching it and not wanting to step away... ANOTEHR missed FT by Duncan.

just for reference, here is the Joker from that one Batman short film that had batman chasing joker in an alley, then batman fighting some predators (lol). That's the kind of style i want Joker to have, vertically long face, and a somewhat portruding thin nose. thats a) faithful to the comic and b) different enough than Jack Nicholson, which is a key thing they have to do. the nose can easily be done with prosthetics. Ian McKellen had a fake prosthetic nose for ALL his Gandalf scenes in LOTR. -
as long as there isn't a gigantic 65% drop-off next weekend, i think we're safe for a sequel. Its still a pretty big hit so far, even though may not be as big as they hoped.

i should point out that regarding the point I was making, ones opinion of her acting is irrelevant actually. Even if you think she's just awful and annoying, there is a very clear difference in the KIND OF ROLES an actress like her or natalie portman (sans star wars), or other young actress who is considered a 'serious actress' and the teenybopper starlets. Parts like the ones in say Lost in Translation, Girl with the Pearl Earring, The Island, etc. Hell i thought pearl earring was incredibly boring and island isn't even out yet, even if she sucks complete ass in it, my point remians. Look at those roles and then look at the kind of roles that the teen starlets take. There is a very clear deliniation, as it regards to the kind of roles they are. i dont want to go so far as to say adult roles... perhaps 'mature' is the right word, in the most non-porno-way-possible. and no, Mean Girls (despite the fact that I actually really like the movie), isn't the kind of role i'm talking about.

I saw this manip over at superherohype, and i thought it rocked. The Man who laughs is actually what inspired Bob Kane (?) to create the Joker, as i understand it. Perhaps they could give that hair a dark green tint to it rather than make it full on, and also dark red lips, close to black, in a "dried blood" sort of way. People will inevitably talk abuot Jack. Once they're IN the movie, provided the actor doesn't suck ass, they'll forget about Jack, at least until its over. Since there's no name or face attached ot it YET, people have no imagination so suddenly they "cant imagine anybody other than Jack", they need something concrete. As long as they avoid actively trying to duplicate Jack, they'll be fine. -
it boggles my mind as to why these teen starlets always play the same kinda roles. here's an idea. ACT for once. Play an asshole. Play a slut. Play a seriel killer who eats peoples skin. lobby for a part in an intelligent action movie. kirsten dunst and katie holmes and claire danes' agents should all get bonuses for getting them into batman, spider-man and T3 (the latter less so). scarlett johanson is 20 years old and look at the parts she takes on. I am curious, do the duffs, lohans, and titney spears and all the rest, do they just not get offered 'different' roles at all, or are their agnets just determined to fit them into the one demographic regardless of whether their movies success or flop?

Yeah but everybody says stuff like that about all kinds of things. If they do a good translation of the joker (preferably with a nonrecognizabale face), long faced and demented, and its as good as the performances in Begins, they'll accept it just fine. -

^ no, don't bother watching any of the schumamcher films. If you MUST have a Batman jones fix, maybe try out the 89 Burton film, but leave the rest behind! Oh, also if you're in the mood for animation, try renting "Mask of the Phantasm", an animated Batman movie, which is closer in tone to batman begins. -

i like the 89 Batman... but what really strikes me is the lack of real emotion. I realize there was a deliberate decision to sort of cloud Bruce in a shadow of mystery early on (we dont even see the parents murder until late in the movie), while its a nice change of pace from the 'standard formula', its impossible to really empathize the way one would for Peter Parker in Spidey 2 (man I really felt bad for him) or clark in the donner superman, etc. This one solved that problem quite nicely by focusing completely on Batman/Bruce. Superhero stories, the standard fare at least, aren't known for their emotinoal depth, so when one really busts out the emotions, it feels like something greater, hence the mad love for Donner Superman, Spidey2 and now batman begins. i'm jsut stating the obvious, but whatever. -
^ which basically means Isiah WILL pass it up. one of the worst GMs i've ever seen (or whatever his position is) speaking of which, did anybody ever come up with a logical reason for that godawful Nazr trade (other than 'Isiah is still working for the Pistons to destroy the Knicks')? get rid of a developing strong center and pick up another super huge contract?

perhaps we should just abandon the whole concept of 'sports' and call in Vince McMahon (err no wait, strike that, call in Paul Heyman) and have him book sports entertainment NBA seasons so we can always get "teams who dont win championsh... err i mean, teams that are fun to watch" and exciting ~SUPERSTARS~! in the Finals. and frankly, the blame lies squarely on the "exciting teams", Its Dallas fault and Phoenix's fault they cant play good defense to go with their "fun" games. its Miami's fault they couldn't hold on to their 2-1 lead or an 8 point lead with 4 minutes left, and so on and so on. Of course nobody wants to blame the teams they like. damn the spurs and the pistons!!! no, damn YOUR favorite team for playing like crap. I'll look forward to next year's "Western Conference Glut", the 3 or 4 teams who are fun to watch but will eventually get slaughtered by the good teams and will never make the Finals. Last year, all i remember is that sacramento, minnestoa, and Dallas, played each other in the first two rounds, and i cant even remember who played who (other than Minn winning). this year the glut consisted of dallas, houston, seattle, and phoenix (though i'll admit i thought phoe had an outside chance, unliek the other 3) god i hope the pistons win. these days with the obnoxious attitudes of fans, NOTHING makes me happier than seeing "fan favorite" ~SUPERSTAR~! teams fall to the Pistons, though i guess the Spurs are close enough to the Pistons it might not have the satisfaction that watching Heat and Laker fans and general upsettiness-over-Det-Spur-finals-fans sputter and get angry. on an unrelated note, i totally dig those Phil 'zen master' jackson car commercials.

good season, but I felt the last few episodes were kinda weak. The stuff with Antwaun in the interrogation room, facing off against Rawlings with Vic in the middle... THAT felt like a season finale, and was the peak of the season. It cried out for an end of season climax. Nothing after it reached that high. -

Please. Jack Nicholson was cool, but it was hardly some definitive faithful portrayal of the Joker. They definetly should go the opposite direction and choose a no-name or little-known-name, and preferably someone with a longer thinner face, to differentiate it from jack and also would make it more faithful.
