the funniest part of the storyline is how he was identified...... he was a former neighbor of the prosecutor!

What was the video opening for MNF tonight?

And the reason the guy threw a drink at Artest was because Artest was attacking his friend... for no reason. And yes it is confirmed that the dude was a friend of (and there with) the innocent nerd guy that ROn Artest attacked. If somebody attacked your friend for no reason, you'd just stand there? Isn't that exactly what Jackson was doing? So jackson doing it, and it was standing up for your bud, but the second dude, doing the exact same thing, is evil. Got it. If there are any lawsuits, there is no way in hell self-defense will apply to Ronnie boy, even if he hadn't been stupid enough to attack the wrong guy. (the actual cup-thrower has been identified and brought up on some charges I believe) And anybody who says 'i'd exact exactly the same way as Ron Artest in that situation' (meaning being a basketball player in that arena), well then you should also be suspended. Artest has always been borderline psycho, and people always say the same thing, when he threw the camera when he did all of the idiotic stupid things he did. As i've said before I feel bad for Pacer FANS, but i've got no sympathy for Artest. How many chances is this moron going to get!? The thing is so huge now that its literally an international incident. This is way bigger than the sport of basketball now. Those of you who think that should not be put into account when deciding punishments are IDIOTS and should never ever run any sort of company or business or put in charge of anything important. Ever. In your life. Probably 40 games would be justified with no external circumstances. Considering the gravity of the situation and how this is effecting the entire league, and how big it is, a season while slightly harsh, is absolutely fine.

bobobrazil1984 replied to Kurt Angle Mark's topic in The WWE Folder
Vince will probably push Holly vs JBL for the next PPV cause of this. -

I saw National Treasure. It was not bad in a light kinda fun way. One of those turn your brain off movies, as a heist treasure hunt movie it was watchable. Nothing great though. -
So can we tell who the future of the WWE is yet?
bobobrazil1984 replied to The Mandarin's topic in The WWE Folder
Does it really matter which "wrestler" is supposed to be the future? Both of them could probably have had a good shot at it if the booking and writing wasn't so godawfully terrible. Its not like any of these guys are gonna get a push or storyline that isn't somehow botched. I mean c'mon now. The future of the WWE is Stephanie and her husband taking over when Vinnie Mac leaves. -
Back to USA. Huh. Well it wont make a lick of difference in the ratings. maybe slightly, but the product will still suck ass either way. Well, at least there'll be symmetry.

Indiana will be fine. Sure their championship hopes for this season are most ilkely sunk, but Artest would have found some other way to screw it up, I guarantee it. This idiot never stops, he's had plenty of chances. It took a plastic cup of drink to blow his stack THIS time, to say nothing of the dozens of other idiotic incidents, you dont think it wouldn't be something else? Its too bad they didnt push the Artest/Peja trade right after the RnB stunt. When you pin part of your championship hopes on a proven headcase, it's a gamble. Sometimes you do alright (Rodman), sometimes you win (Sheed last season), and sometimes you lose... Let these undercard (for lack of better term) guys shine these next 25 games (i think they'll do alright, .500 in this stretch), and build the team around Jermaine O'Neal and whichever one of the other guys step up. Do some dealing. In the long run the Pacers are better off without Artest, as unbelievable as it sounds given the numbers Artest was putting up. This aint a shaq n kobe situation, the attitude of the players matters for the team and its play.

^ hah!! That would be great. Hey gives em a chance to make back some lost money

Back to the Palace, the scene of the crime(s)... Pistons played the bobcats, without Big Ben, Billups, Coleman, someone else, (all suspended) and Delfino (injured). Rasheed nailed 2 triples in the last 25 or so seconds to send it into OT (wtf against the bobcats?)... then fouled out. Rip fouled out. McDyss fouled out in the 2nd OT. The Pistons had to play Darko in the final plays of the 2nd OT and were down to their final five players.... Tayshaun just dives in and DUNKS it with 4 seconds left to win it in double OT. Smush Parker, a little 2nd year PG had a breakout game, kid was driving in contesting against Okafur. Nice. Just what the doctor ordered for Pistons fans trying to forget about 'malice in the palace'

the 1 game suspensions were for the initial Artest/Wallace shoving match, I believe.

Artest seems excessive... everything else is A-OK. and i understand why stern did what he did. Here's a question for y'all. if Artest threw a plastic cup of say gatorade to a fan (who was say heckling him or something), would that fan be justified jumping on the court and chasing Artest? Isn't he just "defending himself"?? what about if his buddies dive on the court to back him up?? Anyways, the excessive suspension ensures that this shit won't happen again. Hopefully. well ok maybe including some other teams i wouldn't mind seeing it for entertianment value :-P
-
legal clusterfuck!!!
-
if Artest had gone after the ACTUAL cup-thrower, would "retaliation/provocation" have entered into Stern's fine lengths, or just ignored??? I gotta wonder, because the new angle video was shown on Local 4 at exactly the time they slipped out the suspension length?
-
I dunno if ESPN or anybody showed this... But local news here in Detroit is showing a new angle, which clearly shows the guy in blue Wallace warmups and a white hat throwing the cup. It's also has an interview with the guy that STephen Jackson hit. Apparently he was a friend of the guy Artest went after (who was innocent), and saw Artest start attacking his buddy for doing nothing (apparently he then intervened or did something, and jackson dived into the fray and nailed him).
-
^ yes sir. Last year they were the two best teams in the East... they faced off in the conference finals (the real finals), 6 game series, 3 of em down to the wire. In the final game, Artest got called for a costly flagrant foul on Rip Hamilton which may have cost them the game. Things got testy. Detroit won and went on to win it all. There was definately bad blood previously.

Oh god let the madness please end sometiem!!!

^ and he clearly violated a major NBA rule and should be subject to punishment by said rules. The nba rule is very clear. It is that simple.
-
but.... but...but... HE was assaulted by a plastic cup!!!!!!!! For his own safety he had to dive in and charge up five rows and wildly grab at the person he thought might have done it! Like I said, nobody deserves the menace of a cup!
-
I think the important thing we're missing here is the effect on our children. We live in a dangerous society and our kids have to know, that if you are attacked with a plastic cup, for your own safety, you absolutely have to chase down the person you believed may have done it, and protect yourself. nobody deserves to be assaulted with a plastic cup. Nobody. Ever.
-
Big Ben doesn't deserve any more than 2 or 3 games suspension.
-
no word on how long it'll last?
-
its funny, everybody else has this splattered across the front... go to nba.com, and there's no photo at all, just a tiny little square that goes referring to 'in-stands violence', and the main story is Wade's buzzer beater win.
-
Fuck yeah. FUCK YEAH!!! Bring this shit on!!! I loved ROTK but it felt choppy, like it was obvouis things were cut out, it didn't flow like Fellowship or even TTT. I'm excited for this.

if any of the players was most at fault it was Stephen Jackson. He was itching for a fight long before the cup. Watch the full video, at one point he raises his fist to the pistons and does the 'cmon lets fight' motion. Wtf, is he a boxer? Then later he charges into therea nd throws the first real punch at a "fan". Like someone else said earlier that was the point of no return.
