Heir To The Empire - Timothy Zahn Really enjoying it thus far, am up to about chapter 15. Have gone on a bit of a Star Wars binge as of late. Have had this on my book shelf for years, first time i've given it a read though.

I don't think so. From my understanding of the way the Force works, there is no "Light Side" per se, just "The Force" and "The Dark Side". The Jedi use the Force while "at peace, passive". Emotion does not enter into it. The Force is in balance. The Sith use the Dark Side while full of passion and emotion. They channel their hate and anger and fear into it. The Force is then out of balance. As a friend of mine said, it is more of an eastern philosophy than a western one. I saw some simliaritys between the Jedi order and Buddhism. You have the Jedi who are all about using the force for others, to help them and to serve - I saw this as being similar to the Mahyanas Bodhisattva. Then you have the Sith which is about using your skills for your own personal gain - I saw this as being similar to the Theravada traditions Arhat. I'm in no way suggesting that Arhats are evil though This is just one very basic similarity which was brought to my attention in this film.

EU stands for Expanded Universe and is made up of lots of books, comics etc that continue on or tell the story between the films. All of which are still contained within the Star Wars universe as we know it. Here's a link to a futher explenation of it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Expanded_Univ...%28Star_Wars%29

Well, thats my tickets booked for a second viewing of ROTS on Wednesday. Am looking forward to seeing it again and possibly picking up on some of the smaller details I might have missed first tim round.

I really want them to build up Sabin as the next big challenger for Daniels title. I think there's definatly something special about him. Granted I haven't paid much attention to TNA lately and what he's doing, but he definatly deserves a shot on PPV at some point in the near future. If they brought in Punk I'd like to see him kept away from Raven. I'm not exactly sure what they could do with him. He could probably be presented as a big deal to the audience and be a top contender to the X title, I'm just not sure how well he'd fit into the division.

I would of thought he'd of been a younger than 25, Jedis start training at such a young age I would of thought he'd of been through the trials and made an official knight sometime before then. Maybe I'm under estimating how long it takes. Obi-Wan does seem about the right age now its been laid out like that for me to see the year gaps in between the films.
-
He played Senator Organa, Leias adoptive father.
-
Obi-Wan ages pretty damn quickly in those 20 years. End of Episode III he's still a pretty young man. Early thirtys maximum. Then 20 years later bam he looks 60 something. The years weren't kind to him, must of been the harsh Tantooine weather that did it.

Interesting question, I would of thought it wouldn't of been any less than 500 years in the past. But what exactly qualifys as a long time?

Maybe R2 has an exagerated sense of self importance and embelishs the whole saga in his favor which is why he looks so good throughout all the films? I'm not sure I like the idea of it being narrated by the droids though.
-
I wasn't aware of that. How does that come about?
-
Lets break it down all the important stuff he does: -Saves the Naboo starship which was carrying: Padme, Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon at that point. -The R2 Unit for Anakin when he destroys the Trade Federation ship shutting down the Droids, Anikin is unlikely to have succeded without him. -Opens every door that impedes their process along the way anywhere in the universe with little to no resistance. -Communicates with other computers to gain valuable information, such as the Falcons Hyperdrive unit being shut down. -An integral part of the plan to rescue Han. I'm sure theres many others I can't think of right now as well.
-
My take on it was that Obi-Wan was definatly a beaten man before Vader trys to flip over him. Vader believing himself to have greater abilitys than he actual has is ultimately his undoing at this point in time. After watching the original trilogy again something I picked up in the Star Wars universe is always take an R2 unit with you as you can break into ANYWHERE with one of them apparently.

I would LOVE a Monkey Island film. It would translate pretty easily as well to a film I think. At the moment I'm working my way through all the films. I watched Episodes I & II on Wednesday, Sith and ANH Thursday and Emipre yesterday. Going to round it off with ROTJ today and quite possibly start reading Heir To The Empire by Zahn which I've had on my book shelf for about 6 years but never actually read all of.

Cinema I saw it in today was pretty deserted, it was an 11:30 am showing though so I guess not many people had desire enough to either miss school/college or work to come see it at that time. I have no doubt that this evenings showings will be rammed. It was nice pretty much having the place to ourselves, got a nice seat upgrade out of the equation, as well as having no annoying kids around. The film was really enjoyable, and after having watched Episodes I & II yesterday I felt a great sense of satisfaction and closure from the films. I also was quite moved by the end of the film. Theres not more I feel I could of asked of ROTS. I'm already looking forward to going and seeing it again sometime soon.

Does anyone know if the Clone Wars series is going to be marathoned or anything similar in the UK before Thursday? I've seen some but would like to catch them all before I go see ROTS.

At the moment I'm the proud owner of: Reborn Stage 1 Reborn Stage 2 Generation Next Death Before Dishonor II Part II Joe vs Punk II Those are my official DVD's I have, also got on bootlegged tape: Era Of Honor Begins Tradtion Continues World Title Classic It was the tapes that slowly broke me into ROH before I was prepared to make the jump to buying the more expensive DVD's. I'm really not sure what to do, I could either by in order from where I am getting Round Robin Challenge III, Survival Of The Fittest etc, or buy the tapes that interest me most like All Star Extravaganza II and what not. I feel compelled to follow them cronologically but I'm just yearning to see the end of the Joe/Punk Series.

"American Dragon" Bryan Danielson "quits" ROH
Garth replied to DangerousDamon's topic in General Wrestling
Credit to PWI.com Doesn't look like a work to me with this coming out. -
I'm trying to convince my parents of my grandparents to give me a bit of a loan until the summer so I can get a few DVD's. I won't be too upset though if I don't manage to get ahold of them now. They'll only destract me from my impending exams, and ROH usually have a good sale every couple of months or so.

Thats a real shame that he's considering calling it quits. Hopefully a few months away from the business will refresh his outlook on things and he'll be back as I know a lot of people love his work. However, personally I find him to be good but not someone I get excited about seeing.
