Hmmm, I wasn't so mush being sceptical of Christianity rather, for want of a better phrase, playing devils advocate. I am an existentialist, so I will debate Christianity as a counterpart to my personal philosophy.

LaParkaYourCar, do you agree as a Christian that it is more important to be a good person than a devout Christian. I find the two are sometimes very different things. *edit*I posted this before he said he would leave, but the question stands for any religous pople out there.

    Floyd me.

The "Best Of" compilation is remarkably shit. That is all.

He's God, of course He controls it. Are you saying that He has no power ove us now? And, if an orthodox Christian lives a blameless life, never experiencing evil and goes to Heaven, how can he appreciate it's splendour? Is there, then, no reason for him not to sin and later repent it?

Goldber - Fan in Chicken suit incident?

Poor Goldberg. He has his best match in ages, then gets heckled by a smark in a Tigger outfit

But that decision was predetermined. Thats not free will.

There doesn't have to be evil for there to be good. Have any of us lived a blameless life? Can any of us say that there is no pleasure in a life without sin. Besides which, a devout Christian will not be tempted by evil, therefore he will not experience true pleasure. What is the point in only allowing those who sin pleasure?

I would like to say at this point that I am not trying to ruin anyones belief, just having a friendly debate about the logistics of God. I trust that you are all secure enough in your faith or agnostism to not have your life ruined by this thread. Thank you.

I'm just saying for the sake of this arguement, that creationism dictates that the human condition of "you must know pain to feel pleasure" is created by God for some random reason, possibly as a further temptation. Sorry, I don't get this whole temptation thing. Why create humans, then spend your whole life trying to fuck them over? Does HE do this with all animals? And plants?

Only because God created us that way. If God DID create everything, it means that he is also responsible for all emotions. As a result he could easily switch the code to make us feel blissfully happy all the time, yeah?

And? We could be blissfully happy AND spend eternity in Heaven. Where the fuck is the flaw in that?

He knew they would that's why he had a plan for those who choose to do good to be rewarded. If Adam and Eve hadn't done it someone would have. He knew Adam and Eve would sin.....he also knew that there would be good people. Nowhere does it say that Adam and Eve are damned. They sinned, but so do we. If God knew they would sin, why bother with their temptation? Why not banish them in the first place? Why create them in the first place? Why not create a more perfect human afterwards to take their place?

So, creationists, why is man imperfect if God had the power to create a Utopian world?

Damn, you started a good thread without me. My views on Christianity is that it's bullshit. However, that does not stop me from seing the good in it, but it does allow me to see the evil in it. Christianity has ruined as many lives as it has saved, allbeit mainly by the manipulation of those who chose to use it's doctrine for evil. Also anyone who needs the promise of heaven to lead a decent life is a dick.

    FAKE Smackdown Spoilers

Naked Mideon returns to the WWE with the Hardcore belt, and says it is now the Hardcore Porn belt. The rules are simple: full penetration is allowed, and the last wrestler to ejaculate wins. He then announces the first match, a fatal four way between himself, The Big Show, A-Train and Vince, which ends in a 60 minute time-limit draw. Beat that!

    Floyd me.

Piper At the Gates Of Dawn (the first album, which includes Interstellar Overdrive) is a good starting point, but very different from DSOTM / WYWH era floyd. Meddle (including Echoes) is probably your best bet if you like those albums and want to discover something earlier. Also, try the Live In Pompeii video if you an find it, as it contains there best pre-DSOTM stuff live and contains a bit more of an edge than the recorded stuff. However, don't expect to find anything better than "William It Was Really Nothing" on those albums. That song rocks

Are you suggesting this is due to Game's irritability and not my exceptional grooviness? Good point.

Yeah, can I get a bye? This competition appeals to both by egotistical and my self-depricative sides.

Mariah Carey has no control. What she does is called "scooping a pitch" where she basically dips down and up to hit pitches, instead of going straight to the note like a trained singer does. She masks this by going up and down the scale at fast speeds and into high ranges to give her that screechy, screamy quality that she has that people think is good, but isn't. It's not so much style as it is just poor mechanics. True that. Have you ever heard Mariah Carey sing a song without all the histrionics? No? Its because she can't. Imagine Mariah Carey singing, for example, Stand Be Me, or something by the Beatles. It would suck like a toothless whore.

This might be hasty since I haven't listened to the album in ages, but you sir, are bonkers. Whether it's good shit or not is immaterial. Can it match up to Animals, Meddle, or Ummagumma? I sure as hell didn't think so the last time I listened to it. It just seemed like a sum of its parts to me, and not a cohesive whole. I think that TFC's cohesiveness is based as much on the production and tone as the songs. And it is surprisingly catchy and tuneful when you get into it. It's the only Floyd album I can listen to without wanting to skip a track, or thinking a song is beginning to lag, probably because the songs are relatively short.
