Not to be negative (but that never stopped me before), I can't see this movie because of Travolta. I loved GET SHORTY (the book) and BE COOL but I can't see Travolta as Chili Palmer. I can't, can't, can't. Poor casting keeps me away from both these movies. I didn't like the casting of Devito either. P.S. Starvenger - I agree with you. Leonard is such a great writer. If the books/comics forum had more than six posters I'd be tempted to start a thread about him over there!

All stupid sitcom characters get stupider as seasons pass. It's an unwritten rule.

Interesting matches we've never seen/heard about

Rockers-RocknRoll Express. The dream match that happened too early! -
There are probably a few newer fans that might not give him his due, due to them being jaded by current styles. He also deserves due (which he gets) for being a generous human being that has helped many workers that have come into wrestling after him.

I'm still disappointed he was only #2 on Comedy Central's top stand-ups of all-time. Not that Pryor being #1 is such a bad thing...!

Yes, you are.

I don't think he's a great actor. And I won't miss him. He would totally taint this movie. As for how much money this movie makes, I rather it be a box office bomb without him then a sucess with him.

Things that were supposed to happen but didn't
Betty Houle replied to MikeJordan23's topic in General Wrestling
I was supposed to get laid last night but I didn't. -
I may be in a minority but I was thoroughly bored by the Rude-Flair matches.

I can't get past Travolta. I'll have to miss this.

Very cool. I grew up in New England (including many years right in Boston) and went to a lot of these shows. Cool to look back at those cards!

Except those of us who read about it in advance. Which might of been what, 2,000 people tops? I mean in 1992 wrestling on the internet wasn't big, plus there were so many false rumors and nonsense that was passed off as fact... Just to interject: I'm sure I don't know how mny people knew about it in advance. My friends and I knew because it was mentioned in the wrestling column of the Boston Herald the week leading up to wm8. no internet for me in 1992!!

Anyone sure if DAZED AND CONFUSED has commentary on it? It's not listed on the package I saw in the store the other day...

Moore Laying Low, wants Dems to run a celeb
Betty Houle replied to AndrewTS's topic in Television & Film
Moore is fat. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! -
This, of course, explains why Dusty won Most Popular of 1987 instead of Hogan or Savage (the explanation given was that people were too split between Hogan and Savage).

Yeah a bunch of movies based on Stephen Kings movies have different names from the books Shawshank was "Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption" Maximum Overdrive was "Trucks" Silver Bullet was "Cycle of the Werewolf" The Running Man should have had a different name...

I think a lot of creators are annoyed by the continuity of long-running books - Byrne (at times) is another example. True. At least Byrne tries to write characters as their creators originally intended though!

Who is the killer or killers in Identity Crisis?
Betty Houle replied to Vampiro69's topic in Literature
Good God, this series keeps getting worse and worse. -
The Stallions were in the middle of a pseudo-push, having gotten a lot of wins on TV against midcard teams as well as nearly winning the titles from The Hart Foundation on SNME about two months earlier. Actually, didn't the Stallions get a non-title victory over the Harts late that summer? They won a non-title match due to trouble-shootingMr.T reversing the decision (Bret Hart had pinned one of the Stallions with his feet on the ropes ala Ric Flair). This was the first indication of any sort of Stallion push. Then came the SNME that was mentioned. Poor Jerry Allen was left out in the cold...

Got an answer from Meltzer about HBK/Foley's match
Betty Houle replied to JoeDirt's topic in General Wrestling
I don't know if that's the case. I've never seen it confirmed anywhere other than Scott Keith who was one fo the people who popularized the Foley beating Shawn myth. Not to analyze Keith too much (I really don't want to think about him or his "work" in too much detail) but this is the same person that used to think that the first Lethal Lottery was really drawn at random until someone told him otherwise. -
I didn't know about. If I had, I still would have skipped it. What would they possibly shown that I don't own on DVD?

Sadly, he only had two great movies: 2001 and DR.STRANGELOVE. I do like A CLOCKWORK ORANGE however. THE SHINING ia an interesting failure. FULL METAL JACKET is watchable for the first half.

Not really. Byrne has long since been on the record towards the fact that he never wanted to do Alpha Flight and that he only did the book as part of a deal he had with Jim Shooter, where Byrne agreed to write/draw Alpha Flight in exchange for Shooter leaving Byrne alone on Fantastic Four. Nowadays Byrne has disowned Alpha Flight and considers it to be a project he wishes he had never done.... Try to get your facts straight! From JB's website FAQ: "JB: Alpha Flight (the team) were never really meant to be anything more than a bunch of superheroes who could survive a fight with the X-Men. They had no real depth, and I resisted suggestions that they get their own book for a couple of years. Then, finally, realizing Marvel would probably get someone else to do it, if I didn't, I relented and agreed. (Sidebar: ALPHA FLIGHT #1 was the biggest selling comic of its day -- 500,000 copies!!) Down through the years, a number of Gay fans have approached me to say "thanks" for ALPHA FLIGHT and NorthStar, so I suppose it justifies its existence in that way -- but as a whole, except for a couple of bright moments, the book just never gelled for me, art- or story-wise. (4/4/98) "

Trust me - I've read a few issues of the previous Doom Patrol series (I think version 2 - with the only original DP member being Robotman, who led a team consisting of third-string superhero losers), and it was MUCH better than the shit Byrne is cranking out. I shudder to think how he's going to fuck up The Demon, and I'm not even really a big fan of the character. Like it or not Byrne's take on Doom Patrol is closest to the original concept as put forth by their creator. I imagine that will be the same with The Demon. And people that aren't familiar with Kirby's The Demon will come out of the woodwork on-line to point out how Byrne got the character "wrong".

As silly as it is to pick a "best" actor... I'll vote anyway! BRANDO
