I was thinking of ordering some of the old Observers (specificly the Wrestlemania issues). Are they worth it? For that matter, is a subscription really worth it?

I have a huge collection of tapes and a long memory... If we're talking about tag matches (with either Martel or Pillman), he had very good to great matches with a boatload of teams: Midnight Express, Samoan Swat Team (believe it or not! I have a damn good match on tape from a house show in 1990), the Freebirds (as good as it gets with these clowns anyway), the Dream Team, the Islanders, etc. Granted, I'm not saying he's the most talented man in these matches; he did step up and carry his end with damn goiod performances. As for singles matches, he's had damn good ones with: Pillman, Eaton (trust me! I have about half a dozen of their matches on tape and most of them are damn good), Lex Luger, Scotty Flamingo (Raven), Terry Taylor, etc. Again, some of these guys are great workers and were more responsible for the match being so good (with the exception of Luger). But Zenk busted his ass in a lot of these matches. No, I never saw a particularly good match with Zenk vs. Arn. Then again, I think Arn is vastly overrated as asingles wrestler. None of the above are the less talented heels I was talking about. I'll get into that later. I'm not saying Zenk was a great worker but let's try not to shit all over him.

As a big fan of King, I find it interesting that he has a couple of books I just can't finish: ROSE MADDER THE TALISMAN DESPERATION or THE REGULATORS (can't remember which)

I wanted to clip these two sentences from your post. You have a good point about the gore but at least he doesn't disqualify any movie because of it. He endorses Dawn of the Dead and Deep Red afterall! I remember him blasting Craven with a comment as if none of his movies were worth a look. I'm a fan of Last House on the Left and A Nightmare on Elm Street (which admittedly, hadn't come out at the time) and a few others so I can't agree with him there. Overall, it's a informative read; I just don't agree with EVERYTHING he says.

Sure, I'd let him do me in an instant.

According to Zenk (and other sources including Ric Martel), Zenk was making half of what Martel was making Z was making $2,500 per week; M was making at least $5,000 per week). If they had put the belts on the CanAms they would have held them for six months until Demolition came around. That would have left and uncertain future for Zenk. And the real money in WWF would have come from merchandising which their was minimal of for the CanAms. Zenk went on to make plenty of money in Japan and later WCW when they signed him for a big contract in 1989.

I agree. I just wish there was no opinion inserted. As a transcriber, he's great. Everything else is annoying BS that reminds me why I hate the internet!

So all those great macthes he was in were 100% tributed to who he was working with? Nope. Granted, his great matches were with great workers but he still had to do his part. And he was a great seller, sometimes putting over less talanted heels in the process!

Elaborate! Let's have some discussion!

I can't remember which is which. I got half-way through one of them and never finished it.

Absolutely not!

How so?

Hey, I love THE STAND! It just didn't crack my top five. I own GREEN MILE and haven't gotten around to reading it. ON WRITING was very interesting. As was DANSE MACABRE, his other non-fiction book.
-
Same here. Actually, I've never seen XV and have no desire whatsoever to do so. Well, you not owning XV doesn't tell us anything since you've never seen it.
-
John Travolta? I won't be watching this movie either.
-
Most definitely! I could never watch GET SHORTY after readin the book, btw. Am I the only one that feels that way?

WM 3, 7, 8, 10, 14.

It was horrible. It looks even worse if you watch it now. But people (myself included) seem to have enough nostalgia for the show to let it slide. Savage was my favorite wrestler from 1985-1992 so I still look back it somewhat fondly...

Absolutely!

Elmore Leonard. KILLSHOT! RUM PUNCH! GET SHORTY!

Wasn't NOT ANOTHER TEEN MOVIE rated-R? And wasn't that awesome in so many ways?
