If I was offered a boatload of money by a bigger company that asked me to leave the smaller company (that wasn't even paying me anymore) without notice, YES, I would do it. Good for Mike Awesome.
-
Mike Awesome wasn't making shit from ECW. He had a great opportunity to provide for himself by jumping. So good for him! Wrestling is a business.

I think what happened is that they lost Hulk Hogan and were going through huge backlash because of the steroid situation at the time.

It wasn't Slaughter that forced the smaller venue change; the company as a whole was in the crapper. They had been selling tickets for the Olympic Stadium almost from the moment WrestleMania 6 was over. Slaughter didn't come back until August and he wasn't in the title picture until January. As far as why it continued past WrestleMania ... WrestleMania was their first match. There was still money to be made from it. They had a several month run and had a series of Persian Gulf (No DQ) matches in the late summer. They usually involved Hogan shooting a fireball in Slaughter's face en route to winning. Another reason is that they just didn't have much top heel talent. Savage was "retired", Dibiase was working with Virgil and hadn't been in the title picture for quite a while ... that leaves us with Slaughter. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Its too bad Hennig was buried by Hogan in 1990 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh Lord, spare me.

I was just watching a WCW match the other day (Pretty Wonderful vs. Bagwell and one of his many partners) that ended without a hot tag. I'm seen this done many times.

Luger said that they didn't have any heat because of the relationship in a shoot interview (Highspots?). Wrestlers tend to lie sometimes so how the hell would we ever know for sure though!

Slut Woman 2 has some great scenes in it... OH! You said PROMO! In that case: -Piper's pre and post match promos from his match with the Iron Sheik at SNME in the Fall of 1986 -the Sting promo about Steven Regal from GAB 96 -the Savage and Jake promos from Tuesday in Texas -Heck, just about any Savage or Jake promo!
-
In no particular order and bound to change day-to-day: Savage-Steamboat (wm3) Savage-Roberts (tuesdayintexas) Savage-Flair (wm8) Savage-Warrior (wm7) HBK-Undertaker (badd blood) WARGAMES (wrestlewar 92) Steiners-Sting/Luger (sb1) Steiners-Harts Hart Foundation-Rockers (Japan?) Eddy-Lesnar (nwo04)

Test? The only time he was ever over was in 1999, maybe. He was a decent wrestler at best and subpar on the mic most of the time. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Right. And this thread asked what wrestlers were never all they could be because of just one missing thing. Add one thing to Test (like great talking ability) and he would have been a much bigger star. Perhaps a huge star?

I disagree with you. And I LOVE Mr. Perfect! He really had no business being WWF World Champion though. He was extremely gifted. Very athletic, could make people look great (perhaps too great) with his bumping and selling. He would have been a disaster as a champion from a business perspective I think. And I don't think he ever had "it" to be a World Champion in the WWF. As a mark for him, I see where you're coming from but I just disagree.

Test.

Yeah well, that match was so mindblowing that even an unclean finish like that warrants it a 5 star rating. Thats simply the best match I've seen, and so think also a helluva lot of other people. As for Shawn, Bret and Austin being the most noticeable names in my list..well, frankly it ABSOLUTELY has nothing to do with taste. Those guys were simply three of the best performers of the 90's. Unless you actually have a considerable amount of bias against either of them which makes you raise an eybrow seeing their names on my list..I don't think why you should question my "taste". <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Why would someone quibble with someone's list of favorites? Never understood that.

Although Hogan was ready to take care of business if he had to in his match in Japan... -
Makes you wonder why you'd bother to post this then!

Nash makes a lot of sense to me. I've read this interview in it's entirety and agreed with about 80 percent of it. I found myself agreeing with a lot of his comments. Then again, I thought Russo made some sense that time he reviewed RAW a year or two back. And I find myself disagreeing with 80 percent of what HTQ says.

I'm watching my SNME tapes... Vince: "Let's go to Mean Gene who's standing by with Mean Gene."
-
He also looks stiff as can be with those kicks(knowing martial arts or faking it well enough always looks good) plus he has that Wanderlei Silva like "I AM GOING TO KILL YOU" look going <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No. I don't see it. Him being over is baffling to me.

"Bobby the Heenan Weasel"

I thought that was one of the Von Erich's...

Low Ki. He has a great voice but otherwise -

*rolls eyes*

I can't agree with that. Yes, he turned it into a series, some of which was excellent, some of which won mahor Science Fiction awards. He's written some thirty or forty books outside of that series as well.
