Fuck. I never really cared about baseball, but if we manage to beat the US, it will be huge. On the reverse side, when (not if) the US comes back to beat us, it will be the "What a comeback" shit, even though you guys shouldn't even be in this situation.

Another three week break after this episode?? Can someone please explain why they do this? It is possibly the most annoying thing EVER. 24 Season 2 did this all the time.

I still can't really figure out what went wrong -- this is easily our worst effort in hockey on an international stage ever. And it sucks, but we will be back. Hopefully Gretzky and Co. learned some lessons from this disaster and turn it into gold in 2010. Because if you think it's bad now, just imagine what it will be like if we don't win gold in 2010. I still think Canada is the best hockey country in the world, we just picked a very bad time to play our poorest hockey ever. Anyways, I'm going to have to go with Russia for the gold medal now, and they will play the Czechs. Even if Finland beats the Czechs, I just don't see them going 8-0 in this tournament. Edit: Man, who would have thought that beating the Czech Republic would be the worst thing that could have happened to us?

Please help -- is this game on CBC radio or not? I will be at school during the game..

That's exactly what is pissing me off about this team. All these players can seem to dominate in the NHL. But in the Olympics, we can't buy a bounce, let alone a goal. As far as Doan goes, if Gretzky isn't involved with the team, he isn't on the team. Hell, just watch the documentary on the '02 win. He almost got Sean Burke on our Olympic team. SEAN BURKE.

They do matter, but we won our gold in '02, so this team should get a free pass, but anything less than gold in 2010 would be devastating.

Couldn't agree more with McCabe -- he has done dick all in this tournament, and proved to be an even worse defenceman than I first thought. If you want to use him as a power play specialist, fine. But I would never put him out if we were trying to close out a game. I think we are still in good shape as far as the medal round goes, even if we lose to the Czech Republic. I'd much rather play Slovakia in the first round than Sweden, Russia or even the States. The only thing that concerns me about Slovakia is they are an extremely fast skating team, which as we saw today, hurts Canada.

I'd start Luongo again for the Czech game, he was great in this game. Tough loss, not the worst thing ever, but still a bad loss confidence wise. The fact that we are getting completely shut down offensively makes me very nervous for the medal round.

Speaking of not being able to buy a goal, Rick Nash. Man, he had the entire glove side wide ass open on that breakaway. Much better 2nd period, but I think that we dug ourselves in to big a hole to get out of in the 3rd.

I'm so fucking fed up with the play of Chris Pronger in this tournament. Anyways, Canada will lose this game, but what concerns me even more is we aren't getting ANY quality scoring chances, we are being outworked, and our players seem to just be going though the motions. If not for Luongo, this game could very easily be 3 or 4-0. The only player that I'm suprised with is Kris Draper, I doubted him early on but he is really working hard. I'm very impressed with him.

It's official, Switzerland beats us, 2-0. I thought the officiating was flat our horrific, for both sides, but that's not excuse, Canada had numerous chances to win. But hey, good for the Swiss. They deserved it, and good for them. Now Canada can't fuck up, which is a tall order considering we are playing the Fins tomorrow and the Czech's Tuesday.

I was SURE that was in, and on the replay, I thought they would over rule it, but even still, Canada is playing very poorly right now, and I can't quite put my finger on what it is that is wrong. To be fair to both teams, the officiating has been very poor, for both sides. Edit: Ron McLean is really pissing me off with this "this game doesn't matter" talk. This game DOES matter, because Canada now plays Finland and the Czech's, games we now have no room for error.

Wow... Canada trailing to the Swiss 1-0 after one, but we are badly out playing them. Alot of questionable calls going our way though.

And it's not like Lett's fuck up cost Dallas the Super Bowl.

YES! Couldn't be happier with the US getting ousted now, but I'd much rather see US-Canada than Sweden-Canada. But it's still great to see them out, to Sweden of all teams.

Anyone know if any Canadian radio stations will be carrying any of the Olympic games? I'll be listening to the Czech game on the radio, if at all possible.

I've been very impressed with the Italian team thus far. Canada just getting wayyyyy to cute in this game, I really hope Italy gives us a scare so we can get into gear for the Czechs.

Ah, yes, just my luck, I don't have school on Thursday, Friday, and Monday and the Canada v Czech Republic game is on Tuesday. Just great. Anyways, I think Canada wins the gold.
