A statement from the NHL and NHL Players Association says Fleury has been placed in Stage 3 of the Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health Program. It did not elaborate on the reason for the suspension. Stage 4 - the final step - of the NHL and NHLPA program involves suspension for at least one season. As part of the program, Fleury is tested randomly for drugs and alcohol three times a week. Fleury will be eligible to apply for reinstatement following the suspension. Speculation has surrounded Fleury's future with the Blackhawks since the season ended. There has been talk that the team will attempt to buy him out of the final year of his $8.5-million contract, which he signed last summer. "I can't see them writing a check and letting me go on my merry way," Fleury told the Chicago Tribune last week. "I would like the opportunity to earn that contract." Fleury indicated he would remain in Chicago this summer and would hire a personal trainer so that he could be in the best shape possible for the start of next season. Fleury was suspended for the first 25 games of the NHL season after violating terms of his aftercare program. There was also a celebrated incident outside a Columbus strip club in mid-January. While he was not disciplined for his actions, the incident triggered a late season slide for the Blackhawks. The team also placed him on waivers prior to the NHL tradeline, increasing speculation that the team were interested in ending their association with him. Fleury first entered the substance abuse program towards the end of the 2000-2001 season while a member of the New York Rangers. He missed 20 games. Fleury finished with 12 goals and 33 points, his lowest point total since he entered the NHL with the Calgary Flames back in 1988-89. Fleury is a seven-time NHL all-star and was a member of Canada's team that won Olympic gold last February in Salt Lake City. credit-tsn.ca

Ya did very good, Vince By BRET HART -- For SLAM! Wrestling People ask me all the time whether or not I miss wrestling. For the longest time, my answer has been no. I don't even watch it anymore because nobody really wrestles anymore. The reason I stopped watching wrestling has little to do with personal differences between me and Vince McMahon. It's no secret I didn't like the direction the business was going, all shock value and little actual wrestling. Anyway, the perspective I've gained recovering from a stroke these last nine months has lessened the priority of some of my personal issues with McMahon. So last Sunday, a friend asked if I wanted to come over and watch Wrestlemania XIX. At first, I automatically said no but there was a voice inside me that urged: 'Ah, c'mon ... just watch and see what they're doing.' So I did. Here's what I thought: It's only fair and right that since I told everyone when I didn't like what the WWE had become that I be a big enough man to admit I liked what I saw at Wrestlemania XIX. I thought it was an excellent show. It seems to me the WWE has gone back to producing great wrestling again. By far and away the best match of the show -- and one of the best matches I've seen in recent memory -- was Kurt Angle and Brock Lesner. As I watched them wrestle, I could feel in my heart just how much I do miss it. Walking up the aisle at the store or driving my truck or between periods at a hockey game, I find myself thinking about wrestling matches all the time. It's not hard for me to visualize, with amazing clarity, the middle of a wrestling match -- having Angle clamped in a side headlock waiting for the next big move of one more classic match. I'm sure Lanny McDonald must go through the same thing with hockey. In watching Angle, I could do nothing but admire his athleticism and absolute realism, especially since only weeks ago he was not expected to work the show due to a serious neck injury and there was fear his career was over. As for Lesner, who I only recently met at Curt Hennig's funeral, all I can say is he's an extraordinary physical specimen the likes of which my dad Stu would love to have gotten his hands on! At the end of his WM XIX match, Lesner climbed up to the top turnbuckle and did a shooting star press, a move more suited to a high-flying lightweight. This 295-lb. man somersaulted backwards -- three quarters of the way across the ring -- Angle moved out of the way at the last second and Lesner ended up driving his face full force into the mat. I was most impressed with the professionalism of a groggy and determined Lesner, whose face was already swollen as he willed himself up from the mat and somehow managed to continue the match. I thought it was a great performance and the match itself was a brilliant piece of work. As for the rest of the show, The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin delivered a whirlwind, knock- down drag out. For me to be able to enjoy watching two great wrestlers who I like to think I did my best to pass the torch to, I was nothing but proud of both of them. I thought even McMahon's match with Hogan was more than entertaining enough and much better than most people expected. It's only fair to say both the Triple H/ Booker T and Shawn Michaels/Chris Jericho matches were terrific. All in all, it was an excellent show and I'm glad to say the WWE put back what I felt has been missing -- wrestling! A few years ago, I said it was inevitable things would come full circle; they'd burn out and have to come back to the simple things that make wrestling what it's supposed to be. Now the ratings have plummeted, I think back to a time when I found myself being handed the torch back in 1992, when the WWE was mired in unprecedented scandals and business was falling fast. McMahon put his faith in me because he wanted a champion who was a realistic, solid wrestler and I'm glad to see history is repeating itself and the WWE has gone back to basics. If my career hadn't been ended by a serious concussion (and the stroke didn't help either), I'm sure I'd be wrestling now. I've always loved wrestling and it feels good to be able to enjoy it again -- at least just as a fan. credit-calgarysun.com

Spoiler (Highlight to Read): Velocity Tapings: [Airdate - 3/22] - I only caught the last two Velocity matches...if anyone can send in the others, it'd be appreciated. - A-Train vs. Funaki. A-Train wins by squashing Funaki in like a minute. - Matt Hardy vs. Nova. Matt Hardy wins. Smackdown! Tapings: [Airdate - 3/20] - Michael Cole and Tazz come down for ringside commentary. They also air renditions of "America the Beautiful" before the Smackdown! opening hits, including a quick recap of the incidents last week where Kurt Angle snuck out a victory over Brock Lesnar. - Charlie Haas vs. Rhyno. Shelton Benjamin accompanies Haas and Chris Benoit accompanies Rhyno. These four, along with Los Guerreros will face off in a triple threat match for the tag team titles at Wrestlemania 19. Benjamin uses every opportunity possible to try and interfere so Benoit chases him around for a bit. Haas works over the knee of Rhyno for several minutes. Rhyno fights out and tries for the Gore, but Benjamin hauls him down drawing Benoit in. Rhyno wins when Haas ends up using the title belt, causing a disqualification win. - Backstage, Stephanie tells Brian Kendrick that she was disappointed to find out he was The Penguin. Every week he defies her authority. Doesn't he understand that he's a liability, that he's not a part of the Smackdown! roster. Kendrick says he thought by beating Matt Hardy he would impress her but he says he's sorry. Stephanie says that she didn't call him in here to yell at him. Tonight, she will offer him an opportunity. He will get a Smackdown! contract if he beats Shannon Moore tonight. Kendrick thanks Stephanie for the opportunity. - Another John Cena promo airs. Says that he has an open challenge at Wrestlemania 19 to outrap anyone. And then after that he has eyes set on The Next Big Thing. He also reveals that next week he will return to Smackdown! and warns Brock that payback is a bitch. - Another Los Guerreros promo is shown. They offer to play golf with a couple other people and place a little wager. As expected, the Guerreros cheat to win. - Rikishi, Eddie & Chavo Guerrero vs. Chuck Palumbo, Johnny Stamboli & Nunzio. FBI double and triple team Chavo on a number of occasions, isolating him in their half of the ring. Chavo finally ends up tagging out to Eddie who tags out to Rikishi who cleans house and then tags Eddie back in. Eddie hits the Frog Splash on Palumbo and gets the pinfall victory. - Backstage, we see Hulk Hogan who is getting ready to sign a contract later tonight to wrestle Vince at Wrestlemania. - Rey Mysterio vs. Jamie Noble. Noble has Mysterio has in trouble for much of the match but at one point Nidia interferes and Mysterio takes her out with a pescado. Noble gets angry and tries a Tiger Bomb which is countered. Mysterio then hits the 619 and the West Coast Pop and pins Noble. Match went about six minutes. - Backstage, Kurt Angle tries to pump up his brother Eric Angle, saying they're going to stand up to Brock Lesnar, etc. etc. Cole can't get over how much the two look alike, saying they are almost like twins. - Team Angle Interview. Eric is selling his injuries from last week at the hands of Brock Lesnar by walking around in crutches. Kurt says well, well, well, look who's still the WWE champion. When Stephanie forced him to face Brock, he admits that he was nervous but only for a second. Then he remembered that not only is he the greatest athlete this business has ever seen, but he's also the smartest. Intensity, integrity and intelligence and don't you people forget that. He says Eric withstood Brock's onslaught, allowing him to beat Brock 1-2-3. Kurt tells Eric that he's the best brother a guy can have - he loves him. And not like the people in Kentucky like their families, not in that way you sickos. Kurt tells Eric again that he loves him and Eric responds by saying that "Mom was right - you don't suck". Kurt asks Brock if he's happy. He just injured an innocent man and nobody but nobody lays a hand on his brother. Kurt promises that this will never ever happen again. And Brock Lesnar, you say you're the next big thing. You're not the next big thing, you're the next big sore loser. You can't beat me so you take your anger out on my brother Eric you big loser! Kurt tells Brock that he's an embarassment and a disgrace to amateur and professional wrestling alike. He only has one more thing to say - I'm the champion and you're not. Oh and another thing, Kurt demands an apology for what he did to Eric last week. What you do to one Angle, you do to all Angles. He demands that Brock come down and apologize right now, face-to-face. Instead, Stephanie McMahon's music hits and out she comes. Stephanie says she's the one who's sorry - because not only does he still have to defend his title at Wrestlemania, but should he try to get counted out or disqualified, he will forfeit his WWE title. She says it's not a punishment, it's like a reward. She says that Kurt and Brock are two of the finest athletes around and they owe it to the fans to give the best damn Wrestlemania match they can. Kurt says he can accept it but he won't do it for this people; he'll do it for himself. He says he won an Olympic gold medal with a broken neck and he can surely beat Lesnar one more time. But he says he's not going anywhere until Brock Lesnar comes out and apologizes. Stephanie says then fine, have it your way and on cue, Brock comes out. Kurt throws Eric in front of Brock. Brock then gets low-blowed and then hit with a crutch in the neck. Kurt then brings in a chair and hits an Angle Slam on it. - Undertaker vs. Bill DeMott. Standard match with much of what you'd expect from these two. Taker ends up hitting a chokeslam near the end and then follows it up by hitting the Tombstone piledriver for the victory. - Backstage, doctors evaluate Brock Lesnar's condition. They fear that he has broken ribs, the same injury he suffered last year around the Survivor Series I believe. - Shannon Moore vs. Brian Kendrick. Matt Hardy is alongside Moore for this match. Hardy at one point slams Kendrick into the steel steps, but Kendrick ends up kicking out. This prompts Mysterio to come out to even up the sides. Moore gets distracted by this and Kendrick ends up pinning him for the win. Kendrick now has a job on the Smackdown! roster. - They show a clip of the Miller Light Cat Fight girls and announce that they will be appearing at Wrestlemania 19. - Chris Benoit vs. Shelton Benjamin. Haas and Rhyno are both ringside. Benoit gets the Crossface on Benjamin so Charlie Haas tries to interfere, but Rhyno delivers a Gore. Benjamin can't escape and is forced to tap out, giving Benoit the victory. - Mean Gene Okerlund gets into the ring and talks about Hulk Hogan and Vince McMahon, saying without these two, there would be no Wrestlemania. Tonight, they will sign their contracts for their match at the PPV, one that is 20 years in the making. Hogan is introduced first and the announcers re-iterate that if Hogan loses, he will have to retire from wrestling. Hogan chants engulf the arena so Okerlund says let's get on with business. Hogan interrupts him and says that these Hulkamaniacs are unbelievable so they start chanting his name again. Hogan finally starts talking and says that he understands what this contract means, but there's no way in hell he's going to let Hulkamania die. Vince McMahon had the audacity to come out here and says that made Hulkamania, but as God as his witness, he is dead-ass wrong. Hogan says that as he stands before everyone, as he lives and breathes, the fans made Vince McMahon. But instead of standing out here all night long, why don't we get Vince out here right now and get this contract done. Vince's music hits but McMahon sneaks up behind Hogan hits him with a steel chair. He nails Hogan several times and then hits him with a shot to the head, busting Hogan open. Vince signs the contract and then makes Hogan sign the contract in his own blood. credit:lords of pain and RajahWWF.com

I just got back from the WrestleMania XIX press conference at the ESPN Zone. It started off with Shane McMahon going around signing autographs, etc. When the show starts The Coach comes out and makes the first announcement for WMXIX (Miller Lite Girls will be there). They came out and took a seat. He also mentions how Limp Bizkit will be performing as well. Bischoff comes out, says how it's his first WM, etc. Next, Booker T was introduced and he talked. Then came out HHH. He said how Booker was a good wrestler for making to WM, but Booker can't beat him. Bichoff then introduced Austin. A big "Rocky Sucks...WHAT...Rocky Sucks...WHAT" chant started. Then when the fans said Rocky Sucks, Austin followed in saying What. After the RAW section of WM was laid out Stephanie was introduced and a big "Sexy" chant started. She introduced Brock. He mentions how he will take the belt, etc. Everyone started an "Austin vs. Brock" chant. Austin then stood up and took the mic, saying if Brock keeps talking about his match with Kurt he won't become the youngest two time WWE champ ('cause Austin would whoop him). Next Kurt came out. He didn't mention his neck, but he said the Brock would in no way take the belt from him. Then the two respective champs, Kurt and HHH, stood toe to toe, nose to nose for some poses. I can't tell if he got all of it but all of a sudden HHH kissed Angle. Next, Stephanie introduced Hogan. He said how Hulkamania won't die, he's going to win, and how he prevented Vince from going to jail (didn't catch everything since everyone kept cheering and making noise). Vince came out lastly. He said how everything Hogan said is a lie. Hogan is a coward and he will kill Hulkamania. Hogan gets up and says how he sees fear in Vince and basically he isn't worried about Vince at WM. Then they had the questions from the press. Honestly the only two I remember were (to Vince) how are the Goldberg negotiations...his reply was their still talking. The other one was to Kurt about his neck. Angle said that he won the gold medal with a broken neck and he will beat Brock with a broken neck. When everything was over it was a mad dash to take out photos, get autographs, etc. I got a WMXIX chair and Shane's autograph. I took out a lot of nice pictures as well. Inside the ESPN Zone was "electrifying", but outside there were a ton of disappointed people (I'm surprised I didn't get mugged for the chair...it's a good thing I moved fast). credit:lords of pain and John Permaul who wrote this.
