My blog is still not dead...getting closer though. But I remembered the NBA Draft was this week so I can get another Draftback entry in. With the NBA Draft I take different approach as I rank the players using the basketball version of Win Shares. I don't know how reliable the statistic is, and I don't quite agree with all the rankings, but at least it's an objective way to compare these player's careers at this point. 1997 NBA Draft per Career Win Shares 1. Tim Duncan, San Antonio - 399 Career Win Shares (1st Pick) 2. Chauncey Billups, Boston - 252 (3rd) 3. Tracy McGrady, Toronto - 246 (9th) 4. Antonio Daniels, Vancouver - 131 (4th) 5. Derek Anderson, Cleveland - 120 (13th) 6. Keith Van Horn, Philadelphia (traded to New Jersey) - 115 (2nd) 7t. Tim Thomas, New Jersey (traded to Philadelphia) - 94 (7th) 7t. Bobby Jackson, Seattle (traded to Denver) - 94 (23rd) 9. Tony Battie, Denver - 91 (5th) 10t. Kelvin Cato, Dallas (traded to Portland) - 83 (15th) 10t. Brevin Knight, Cleveland - 83 (16th) 12. Austin Croshere, Indiana - 81 (12th) 13. Stephen Jackson, Phoenix - 79 (42nd) 14. Scott Pollard, Detroit - 78 (19th) 15. Alvin Williams, Portland - 61 (48th) 16t. Just read Stanford's preview on the site and got the distinct feeling from reading it that maybe an Emerald Bowl bid isn't out of the realm of possibility and then I check out their Pac-10 unit rankings, specifically on the offensive side of the ball. And then I came back down to earth. Oh well another year of just rooting against Cal.

We're well past eight hours since the last pick.

Did anyone ever PM nogoodnick to make another pick?

Nope, his soul is in a garage in Buffalo right about now. I guess that would be hell.

He's in and it will be the longest, most self pretentious speech in Hall of Fame history.

"Don't he look good? Don't he look good?" "You crazy, HE'S DEAD!" "I know but he never looked that good." "They say the nicest things when you die, your popularity goes straight up when you die."

The CFL season starts on Thursday and I just now noticed that Comcast Sportsnet won't be carrying CFL this year, and there doesn't appear to be any U.S. coverage for the CFL this season which really blows. I usually lose interest in the league once college football seasons starts but I've enjoyed watching it during the summer as an alternative to god awful NFL preseason football.

Justin Duchscherer lowered his ERA to 1.99, best in the A.L (now qualifies after today). Obviously there's little to no chance he'll keep up this pace and I still have serious doubts that he'll stay healthy all year (had a brief stint on the DL already), but he's pitching well enough that it starts to make me wonder if he was being wasted the last few years in the bullpen.

Today's schedule Stanford vs. Georgia, 2:00 PM/11:00 AM, ESPN North Carolina vs. Fresno State, 7:00/4:00 PM, ESPN Since the CWS lost a day due to rain, their originally weren't any games scheduled for tomorrow but if either Stanford or UNC wins today they'll force another game and since ESPN didn't have it originally scheduled those games would be pushed over to ESPN Classic.

Since I picked LT with my first pick that pretty much dictated that I go with a 3-4 defense and who better to team him up with than his own teammate from the Giants, an ideal player to man the RILB position. Went to the the A's/Marlins game, which had to be one of the more entertaining games I've ever been to. It had a little bit of everything with back-to-back homeruns that included Carlos Gonzalez's first MLB homerun, Huston Street blow two leads, two monster shots by Dan Uggla (he is a bad, bad man right now) including one in the 9th to send the game to extras, and a dropped ball by Luis Gonzalez in the 11th that led to the winning run that was knocked in by Kurt Suzuki, who had a shockingly huge night at the plate. First time I've seen the Marlins in person which just leaves the Reds, Mets, Nationals, Braves and I think the Rockies (might have seen then in the early stages of interleague play but can't remember) that I've never seen in person.

In game updates can be largely unnecessary but it can also produce some great sports folder moments like the 2007 Fiesta Bowl where even Czech joined in the fun.

Stanford eliminates #1 Miami!!! North Carolina is now the ACC's last hope to finally break their national championship drought.

So the whole Comcast vs. Big Ten Network war is apparently over and the BTN has won by most accounts. Those of you in Big Ten country will get the network on your basic tier for this upcoming season. For the rest of the us, one big *yawn* to the whole thing.

I'm happy for Garnett, always been one of my favorite players. Call me an old curmudgeon but I wish pro sports would go back to the locker room, champagne bukake for trophy presentations of yesteryear rather than these made for t.v. on the court/field presentations with everyone's damn kids. It's even more annoying when the road team wins.

Fucking soldier! Anyways, this pick was tough as there's one player I've been targeting the last couple of rounds but decided to pass thinking he'd drop which I was correct. This time around there is just no one that I feel that strongly about after him so I finally am going to bite the bullet at running back and pick one of the all-time greatest, all-purpose backs. He's total rushing stats won't blow you away but he played in an era when fullbacks received the majority of the carries and he averaged 4.8 YPC for his career. If you want a modern comparison, he was the Marshall Faulk of his era. Lenny Moore, Running Back Baltimore Colts 1956-1967 Hall of Fame - 1975 7-time Pro Bowler 5-time First Team All-Pro 1956 Rookie of the Year 1950's All-Decade Team 113 Career Touchdowns (63 Rushing, 48 Receiving, 2 Returns)

I haven't puked in 11 years and only once in the last 19 years. Last time was due to pain killers after having my wisdom teeth removed and not eating anything all day. I'm thin as a rail so I'm deathly afraid of getting a stomach virus as I don't need any illness where I can't eat.

Fresno State is going all Villanova '85 on everyone right now. I hope Stanford survives tomorrow but don't see it happening.

Gert won't be pissed as I'm still tempting fate that the quarterback I want is going to keep dropping. I wasn't targeting a defensive back here but when I noticed this all-time great was still available I had to go for the steal here. This man in 1965 against Pittsburgh intercepted a pass while playing with two broken wrists.
