I don't have any interest in seeing Jericho come back, wrestle the same matches with the same five or six big moves, and job to HHH and Cena all over again.
-
I don't think anyone is getting defensive about them. They're doing well, and it's worth talking about.
-
It was sarcasm, dumbass.
-
No, but the fact that they're the first team in MLB to reach 25 wins this season does.
-
Here's one I'm surprised hasn't come up yet: Ric Flair.
-
"Oh, but they're just beating up on the crappy teams in their division."
-
Brewers end up winning 12-3. JJ Hardy is on fire. Take that, New York.
-
Brewers look to be on pace to tie the series against the Mets. They're leading 9-3 in the 9th inning, following a JJ Hardy grand slam. If I'm not mistaken, JJ Hardy now leads the NL in RBIs this season (and I think is tied in home runs).

Anyone else remember that awesome cage match between the two teams on a TV special? That was probably one of the best tag team cage matches I've ever seen.

How about not letting her make another thread about herself for a change?

*Barry & Kendall Windham vs. Lex Luger & Michael Hayes (NWA, March 1989) That's the match where Hayes turned on Luger to set up his sole US Title reign, IIRC.

The question is, what do they do with Henry if 'Taker is going to be on the shelf for a while?
-
Mike, that sounds cool.

Not to get too off topic, but what's with the transition between chat programs, to sites like Myspace and Facebook? All my friends used to chat on AIM, ICQ, etc. Now everyone just uses their Myspace to message each other. It's stupid.

Aw, she ended up with her drug dealer. That's sweet.

You know that you want it.

Yeah. I personally don't care for AIM's chat feature, and IRC rooms through mIRC seem so 1996. I think the only downside of a chat room connected to the forum, would be that it could cut down on posting a little. Actually, that could be a great thing.

Any chance one could ever be integrated into the site? Seems like it would be more useful than the front page has been.

Jenkins BA this year against lefties is only like .150 or something, though that's in about 20 at bats only. I can't believe how much pitching the Cards let go this off season. I've heard some people accuse the Cards' owner of being a cheap skate. I don't know how valid that is, though.

Well, Prince Fielder and JJ Hardy have both been red hot lately. JJ just finished a 19 game hitting streak. Geoff Jenkins has been pretty resurgent this year, but he's pretty much only used against right handed pitching (because he stinks at hitting lefties). As far as pitching, the whole rotation has been solid (Claudio Vargas is probably one of the best fifth starters in all of baseball right now)...while the bullpen has been deadly (usually Derrick Turnbow in the 8th and Francisco Cordero in the 9th). Some people have been concerned that Cordero has been used a lot lately, but with an off day today, I don't think it will be a big deal. Defensively, Bill Hall is still adjusting a bit in center field (he primarily played as an IF utility guy last year). The Brewers also sport a great catching battery, with Johnny Estrada as the starter, and Damian Miller as the backup. FWIW, I can't really sympathize with Buffalo. Four Super Bowls in a row is pretty amazing, even if they didn't win any. They happened fairly recently, too. The Dodgers are probably my second favorite NL team. I would love a Brewers/Dodgers NLCS.

Yeah, exactly. We have the single dusty pennant from '82 hanging in Miller Park.

Oh, it was a good series, and exciting playoffs before that. I don't remember anyone wearing Red Sox hats, though, and I was on a college campus at the time. Frankly, around that time ('04) was around when the Brewers started to pick back up (Sheets had a great year, guys like Bill Hall were starting to come up), and I did start to notice more people paying attention. It hasn't just been this year when people suddenly came out of the woodwork. Miller Park has drawn over 2 million fans the last two seasons.

Yep. When I first started really getting into baseball as an eight year old in 1988, Gary Sheffield was my favorite player. Everyone knows how well that turned out, and they ended up trading him for a couple bums I can't even name. Then, they let Paul Molitor go and he wins a World Series for Toronto. I remember reading quotes from Phil Garner in the mid-'90s about how "The goal is to win the World Series. It is every year", and wanting to vomit beause everyone knew there was no way in hell they were going to contend. We also had to hear Wendy Selig-Prieb's constant excuses about being a small market team, and all that. Yeah, we're more than due.

When everybody in Wisconsin buys their new Brewers hats, I hope they'll do the right thing and donate their old circa-'04 Red Sox hats to charity. No one I know here in Wisconsin is or was a Red Sox fan. We fucking hate them and all the attention they get, along with the Yankees. I think I wanted the Red Sox to win the World Series, but that was just so we didn't have to hear "It's been xxx years" anymore. The Brewers are legit this year because of their depth. Even if a starting pitcher and/or an infielder gets injured, it's not like they don't have anyone to plug in as a backup. They still have Yo Gallardo and Ryan Braun waiting in AAA. Hell, Corey Koskie is even claiming he'll be back this year (though I personally doubt that he'll bounce back from his post-concussion syndrome). Also, Mark Attanasio and Doug Melvin have stated they'll spend money on the right player later in the season if they have a need. People are excited because it's not all lip service, like during the Bud and Wendy eras.

Didn't Vince say something a while ago about not wrestling anymore? What happened with that?
