Haha...that was a pretty funny read.

Gee, ROH fans being douche bags, go figure.

I couldn't care less about this kind of stuff, but...it's high school sports...I thought the idea was to learn the game and teach teamwork and fundamentals, not destroy and humiliate other people. Is it really that hard to put your team on defense and take out your starters?

I would think that even if a national sales tax was very low, like say 1% on most purchases, it could raise a large amount of money for the government relatively quickly. Wouldn't be the worst way to get rid of that pesky national debt our fiscally conservative president built up.

It does seem like the prices are kind of stuck for right now, with the recent advent of the 1080p and 120 hz features. I would like to upgrade from our Mitsubishi 48" rear projection set eventually (mainly because it's a bit too large for our current living room, and 1080p would be nice since we have a PS3 now). I just can't see spending over a grand yet for a reputable set with those features at this point. The other problem is that it seems like you can't give away an HD-ready rear pro set at this point, even one that is in excellent working condition and barely five years old...and we don't have anywhere else to put that TV set. I've tried craigslist and junk like that...seems like at best I have gotten a couple "tire kicker" responses from people that never bother to follow up after I answer their questions.

Did you really want them to sign him for 4 yrs/$100 million or whatever his ridiculous demands are? In other news of the truly exciting, it looks like Craig Counsell will be back with the Brewers. Reportedly 1 yr/$1 million. Not actually a terrible move if he doesn't play too much.

I guess I've always been mad about that because at the time I was a much bigger WWF fan, and was angry that the WWF didn't seem to be doing anything to mitigate the losses of Razor and Diesel. Then I remember reading a press release shortly after where they actually tried to hype up those gimmick characters coming in. It just came off as really lame. But overall, yes, Austin, Rock, and Foley all had huge long term impact, discounting the fact that their initial gimmicks weren't very good.

WCW facts, tidbits, and stuff people forgot

Yeah, I never figured the American Males were gay...just kind of the usual generic pretty boy "heart throb" types wrestling promotions always seem to be fond of. And yeah, I don't remember the Beverlys getting any mic time at all. What was also weird was that their first manager was "Coach" John Tolos. -
I wish they would take a serious look at doing away with income taxes and going with a national sales tax of some kind.

It can happen in 100 years or so because the amount of junk being put into the atmosphere on a daily basis is absolutely staggering. Go look up the numbers.

I never understood WWF taking established AWA guys and making them work under completely different gimmicks...other than the Rockers, of course. The Beverly Brothers were incredibly generic, where at least the Destruction Crew showed some personality. You also had Badd Company brought in under a completely different gimmick (Orient Express). -
Actually, all of the few people I know who still get their TV through OTA got their converters quite a while ago, and these aren't big TV watching people...so I can't fathom that some people still haven't taken care of it. And you are correct in that cable and satellite customers (I believe roughly 75% of the US population) are essentially unaffected by the switchover.

Actually, I remember Michael Savage, quite a while ago, had a pretty decent take on this. It was along the lines of, "Yeah, maybe the globe really isn't heating up, but shouldn't we at least want clean cities with breathable air?" I think Al Gore is right in that the debate is really over, but the validity of it is still being questioned, due to industry marketing, much like the negative health effects of cigarettes were well into the '80s.

1996 loses because you also had that stunning array of talent they brought in soon after Diesel and Razor left, such as TL Hopper, Alex Porteau, The Goon, and Who?

Have any of them tried to paint Bush as being a great president? I'd laugh at that.

Well, if you haven't been following this story over the past few days, Hamas started firing rockets at Israel (once again). Israel has responded with heavy military attacks into Gaza, and over 300 people have been killed so far. Of course, the usual condemnations have been directed at both sides. Thoughts?

I don't know...they've had two extra years already. I think enough is enough. Just do it and get it done with. There would be problems if they wait another year or two anyway...I doubt four extra months is really going to fix that much.

I can't believe Limbaugh is still on the radio.

Jeff Kent officially announced his retirement today. Retires after 17 seasons as the all time 2B home run leader. I think he'll get into the Hall, but maybe not on the first ballot. You know there will be some writers who don't vote for him because he wasn't exactly Mr. Nice Guy.

Looking more and more likely that the DTV transition will again be pushed back...but only until June 12th. This seems so stupid...everyone has had enough time. They should just do the switch as scheduled, and let people and companies deal with any problems after that.

No, there was no definitive blow off to the group at all, which is pretty lame in retrospect.
-
I think that was just to give a kayfabe explanation of how the nWo was getting their money to recruit new members, more than anything. Even though they couldn't call him "The Million Dollar Man", they were hinting that he was bank rolling the operation.
-
Well, he doesn't have that much experience at 1B to begin with...although it's probably a bit dumb on his part to come out and say that, as it's only going to hit his potential value on the open market at this point. I kind of wish the Brewers would make a run at him, but apparently that won't be happening.

One way they could get around this and not necessarily have Orton win the Rumble...Steph vows next week that while she won't fired Orton, she's going to keep him around so she can make his life a living hell. Then they basically have Legacy trying to take over RAW, vs Stephanie's group of faces, headed by John Cena. Or maybe she books Jericho against Orton, loser leaves RAW, or something like that.

Fox News is like the captain staying with the sinking ship until the very end.
