I can only imagine how amusing an Obama/Palin debate would be. Palin would probably try to get all folksy and end up accidentally making a racial slur or something.

Is Howard still pissed at the Phillies for keeping him down in the minors a long time? I just can't see him even getting that much right now...could be a big mistake on his part. Speaking of arbitration, I was pleasantly surprised to hear that Prince Fielder is asking $8 million, while the Brewers offered $6 million. Chances are they could settle somewhere in between, but even $8 million seems pretty reasonable for a hitter of his caliber.

I don't get all the attention on the "flub". Stuff happens. I guess it's OK if that was worst thing to happen during the inauguration. Did Bush actually get booed? I was actually listening on the radio on the way to work and it sounded like he at least got polite applause when he was announced.

I don't buy the whole "Jim and Pam" shouldn't be together, argument. They couldn't have gotten that much more mileage out of the awkwardness between them before they started going out.

Poker. Especially all the crap on TV. Indy wrestling. Sure, I'll go to a show maybe if it's around here, but I'm not going to pretend to know anything about the guys. Most current news and events. I just don't care anymore. Which is weird because I used to be an avid news reader/watcher. It's like I just stopped caring at some point and became completely apathetic. Motorcycles/snow mobiles. There's a lot of that around here, and since I'll probably never own or do either one, I don't care. College sports. Don't know why, just never followed that stuff. Pretty much any serious drama show on TV. I'd rather watch something comedic. Tattoos...someone else mentioned this, and I agree. I don't want to hear about someone else's "tats". Plus there are a ton of little tattoo shops around here for some reason, and a lot of bars are doing "Show your tats!" nights now, for whatever reason.

That reminds me, I would love for someone at WWE to recover the supposed photos of Hart and Hogan that were taken to build to their match in WWF that never happened. Those would be surreal to see, even today.

I remember laughing hysterically when Buffer did that...what did he call him "Hitman' Bret Clark" or something? I remember Hart looked pissed about it, too, and there were rumors that someone at WCW purposely gave Buffer the wording like that in order to humiliate Bret.

Right. But it was pretty obvious at that point that Batista would end up turning face once he had the title shot in hand.

Actually, I may have imagined playing some of those games in 1080i...the more I research, I've found out that the PS3 actually automatically kicks down 720p games to 480p, and will not upconvert to 1080i. Kind of a dumb move on Sony's part. There have been some games that have been patched to allow 1080i resolution, though (and of course many games are released supporting it up front).

I still don't think Peavy will get traded at this point. I think if he was leaving, it would have gotten done by now.

Yeah, frankly with the big ticket items I doubt they're going to significantly slash prices. They're going to milk every dime they can out of the stuff to cover their debts.

Maybe I'm going nuts...I got Warhawk, a 1080i capable game to play at 1080i on my TV, but Fallout 3 and other "720p only" games won't. They play in 480p on my set. I could have sworn I had them playing in 1080i, but maybe I was mistaken.

I think a lot of industry analysts saw something like this coming several years ago when they started firing all of their good tenured sales people because they were "overpaid," many of whom just took jobs at competitors.

They also did this with the Warlord and Barbarian, actually calling them the Super Invaders, IIRC. I think it was in 1995 because they might have been in that years World War 3 battle royal. Soon after, Warlord was gone and Barbarian was in the Faces of Fear with Meng. I think they were actually "The Super Assassins", but I could be wrong.

For some reason when I booted it up earlier today, the video settings had "reset", and it had me go through the video/audio setup again, saying it "detected an HDMI connection", which is what I've had it hooked up with the whole time. While I have the menus in 1080i, for some reason I can't get it to output games (like Fallout 3) in 1080i again (it was before). Anyone know what setting I need to tweak?

I had a weird thing happen where the dude that was trying to get with the Nuka Cola lady was immediately attacked and killed by a Yoa Guai after he offered to pay double for the Quantum bottles I was going to retrieve for her. Kind of amusing, as I just took his Kneecapper gun and stuff. Also, does the game occasionally freeze up on PS3 for anyone else? I've had that happen four or five times now, and it's kind of aggravating.

The problem being they probably didn't even have 8 guys to realistically put in that role at the time. I remember being really excited for ECW on TNN, because it was my first time to actually see ECW on TV (we never got the syndicated show in Wisconsin). However, it wasn't very good...the very first episode was a "best of" type thing, as I recall. After that, they actually did have some hot angles for a little bit, like Raven returning to team with Tommy Dreamer. However, the time slot was horrible...I had just entered college at the time, and had plenty of better things to do than try to remember to watch a third string wrestling show on Friday nights. Also, there were WAY too many commercial breaks. I would bet that in a one hour time slot, we maybe got 30 minutes of actual content.

No, no, no...the finger poke was freaking terrible. Even the biggest WCW marks at the time hated it. It made no sense...why would a main eventer like Kevin Nash want to give up the World Title to Hulk Hogan? It just made no sense. Trying to say this angle had potential is just fantasy booking revisionist non-sense.
