The OAO Raw Thread for 22/01/07
Dobbs 3K replied to Prime Time Andrew Doyle's topic in The WWE Folder
I thought the segment with Khali was actually pretty good for what it was meant to do. I enjoyed Shelton trying to tell Khali to chop Cena, and then Khali going nuts on all the heels. -
You'd think they'd have at least one surprise entrant, even if it is a "WWE legend" or something.
-
OK, that is amusing.
-
The audition shows are awesome. Who actually cares about the "good" singers?
-
Hmmm...where are all those right wing commentators saying gas prices are too low now?
-
They need to have #30 win it one year, just to prove that it really is the best number. It would be the perfect way to put over some sneaky heel on the cusp of the main event.
-
Oh come on, that can't be real.
-
Yeah, I wouldn't have been surprised if he said "Mexican", but Spaniard is just plain silly.
-
I called HBK/Cena months ago, and it looks like that's going to happen at WM.
-
Jim Ross as best announcer? Maybe if you have your TV on "mute", but otherwise, not in 2006.
-
Didn't they already have judges on the FSN episodes as well? I don't remember that really going anywhere.

Boy, can't get enough of that MNM vs Hardy Boyz feud on all three shows, huh? -
Episode #2 was on last night. Anyone else watch it? I thought it was one of the weaker episodes, to be honest. I did like what they did with Vorenus, though.

"This was the worst RAW I've seen in a long time. Vince needs to get his egomaniacal ass off TV. They fired nine people so more divas can take up screen time with their bad acting, and all of the wrestling matches were short and formulaic. Also, Jerry Lawler and Jim Ross need to be fired." -

Wow, that's a pretty ambiguous RAW preview. I suppose we'll get the big brawl in the ring at the end of the show, though. -
Shoot judges for kayfabe matches? Sounds like trouble waiting to happen.

Personally I thought it was lame how leading up the first ONS event, Benoit was pushed as having been some huge part of ECW, when he had been there for basically one year or so (granted, he held a title and had some good matches, but still...).
-
Well, Cheney maybe. We know he can handle a firearm...
-
Yeah, Chavo/Benoit was really good. Some will disagree, but I thought it was close to a four star match. Not bad for free TV. I enjoyed Deuce and Domino. I guess I'm a sucker for heels in biker jackets that talk slang, or something. They should have a tag team name, though...
-
Well, he did beat Rhino in that six sides of steel match, when Rhino gored him through the cage, to the floor.

I liked going to Vegas this summer, but getting around the strip kind of sucks. Public transportation and cabs are fairly expensive, and the foot traffic is crazy. It seems like it takes half an hour to walk three city blocks (well, everything is huge there). The other annoyance is that people seem to _constantly_ be hitting you up for stuff (sign up for this tour, come see this timeshare development, get a hooker, buy this souvenir, etc). I heard you can rent a car for under 20 bucks a day, but I can't imagine trying to drive around in that traffic, and then trying to find a parking spot. One trick I learned (well, a lot of people probably know it) is that you can sit at the bar in a lot of the casinos, put maybe five dollars in the machine, and sit there for a long time and get free drinks, as long as you're still technically playing the machine. Nice way to get buzzed for cheap. Oh, I like the fact that you can have an open intoxicant on the street, too. I also ate at Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville and got two free margaritas just for buying one, but I think the bartender liked us.

He'll be missed. A lof of the bigger guys out there could stand to study his matches.
-
Who the hell would want to work for WWE anymore? TNA really needs to get their crap together. Seems like the better company to work for, unless you're an upper echelon "name" in WWE. Sure, they pay maybe isn't as good, but less dates and less crap.
-
"Mr. Thursday Night" Robert Van Damme.
-
I laughed at the end when Dwight said "No, I don't need it" to the blindfold, and started beating the crap out of the pinatas.
