I don't know...maybe it was a little rushed, but I felt the overall pacing was much better than an average one hour episode of Impact. Matches went through commercial breaks, etc. Let's face it, TNA probably isn't going to put on any 30 minute mat wrestling classics anytime soon, but the 2 hour show was very well done.

Hell, even in Austin's first rise to the top in WWF, he had his comedic moments. Remember when he hit Vince with the bedpan?

How come no one has posted "OMG BIG SHOW VS JOE IN TNA" or something yet?
-
Casual basically means the people who watch it on tv, maybe order a ppv once in awhile but usually just Mania, Rumble and/or Slam/Series. They don't follow the industry like we do. It's just another television program to them. Die hard, doesn't neccesarily mean they are internet savvy, but just big fans, no matter what. Fair enough. I still think the amount of internet savvy wrestling fans is bigger than some are giving credit for, but whatever.

Is there such a thing as a "casual wrestling fan"? I've never understood that term either. I'm not trying to nitpick here, but everyone I've known who's been into wrestling has been pretty diehard.

I said it after their two hour primetime debut: The great thing about that show was that it didn't feel like everything was rushed. The matches and angles were given time to develop in front of the audience. The one hour timeslot is the complete opposite. Everything is rushed and forced. You can hardly remember all the matches and stuff that happened because the moment one segment ends, they rush into another angle or match. They really need to go to a two hour format. The primetime special showed they can do it.

What an ass. It's his job. It's not like Congress doesn't get weeks off at a time or anything...

Not sure...my band was looking at playing a show that night like we did last year ($$$) but it looks like that probably won't happen since we're transitioning drummers. Probably either find or host a party. I'd rather stay in than brave the roads with all the drunks.

What about all that crap with Shannon and stuff? I don't remember any details because I didn't care about what was going on (I was mainly a lurker who occasionally posted) but that was a big deal.

Hugo Chavez wins reelection in Venezuela
Dobbs 3K replied to Shooting Star's topic in Current Events
I'm sick of hearing about Chavez. When are we going to knock some fear into these fuckers? -
I didn't know rabbis lead "churches."

Eh...the problem isn't going to Heyman, Cornette, etc. for booking purposes. The problem is telling them to book, then having Jarrett or Vince or whoever impose their own vision on them. Heyman booking ECW would've been fine if Vince and Stephanie weren't fucking everything up.

Yeah, I've been around since Rantyslvania as well.

LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOOR! LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOOR! RRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWRRRRRRRR!!!! Damn, I hate that song.

Not much. He went up to RKO and asked to join them, citing safety in numbers. They acted like dicks and said that since they've beaten D-X and he never has, he needs to prove himself before they'll consider him. Good idea, as long as they don't call him "Kenny" anymore.
-
Maybe this means ECW will get away from the tired "GM tries to screw babyfaces" style of booking they've been following.

I thought he was fine. For all that the UN doesn't do, I don't think it really matters who our UN ambassador is, frankly. I think someone of Bolton's style was needed, though.

It didn't matter what the finish was? They spent over a year building to that match, so it definitely did matter what the finish was. Whether Sting could have carried the promotion or not, you don't build to a match for over a year and then have such a terrible finish. Exactly. And frankly, while Sting may have been a bit out of shape, it wasn't like he was carrying a huge beer gut or something. Him beating Hogan was the only ending that made sense, and they didn't go through with it due to stupid Hogan politics.

RAW gets all the guys, Smackdown and ECW are relegated to their own wrestlers...except for the three world champions, who can appear on any show. At least that's what I gather from how WWE has been booking lately.

Does anyone actually WANT Lashley to win? I mean, not just people on this board. I mean, do casual fans even want to see him with the ECW title?
-
I missed that one. What actually happened?

Anti-Abortion Lobby to Waste More Time with Empty Gesture
Dobbs 3K replied to SuperJerk's topic in Current Events
I hate the fact that abortion exists, but I think most people accept that it's never going to be completely illegal in the US. This bill won't really do anything even if it does magically pass. -
Someone actually did put a link to that story somewhere around here...but yeah, it's interesting. Glad to see people aren't kow-towing to Bush when he doesn't deserve it.

Groom Shot & Killed By Police On Wedding Day

Let them riot, then use the police to wipe them off the streets. -
Wrestler who's had the most gimmicks/names?
Dobbs 3K replied to Man Who Sold The World's topic in General Wrestling
Ah yeah...the Harris Bros...same crappy team under eighteen different names. Perennial Russo favorites.
