I like to catch Michael Savage, because he tells it like it is.

Chicago requires big-box stores to pay 'living wage'
Dobbs 3K replied to MrRant's topic in Current Events
Well, if Wal-Mart can use their leverage to get goods at better prices, and pass the savings on to the consumers, why shouldn't they? As for all this talk about Wal-Mart products being inferior...is the stuff at K-Mart, Target, or Shopko really all that much better? I mean, yeah, Wal-Mart doesn't carry any high quality product lines, but I've never bought anything from their that's been so incredibly awful, either. If you want high quality, go to a specialty retailer and do your talking with your wallet. -
They offered him 4 years/$48 million dollars, which is fair for the market, but probably still too high. How much higher could they have really gone? In two years Carlos Lee might be broken down. I don't think they could have gotten more for him in a trade, if that's what you meant. Doug Melvin has been a very competent manager thus far for the Brewers. I'm sure he took the best trade he was offered. Again, no team was going to give up an elite hitter or pitcher for a two month "rental" player.

I think the Brewers made out fine in this deal. They obviously weren't going to get any huge names in this deal. You have to remember that Carlos Lee is probably only going to be a Ranger for two months or so. No team was going to give up a supserstar for a quick "rental." Brewers got some players to fill some holes, and are basically major league ready. That's what they needed.

Fine, let someone else overpay for him. That's a very reasonable and fair offer.

Europe by and large is squeamish about a lot of things. Like, helping during international crises, fighting terrorism, confronting rogue countries, etc. I don't think we should use them as an example.

http://www.rightherepictures.com/main.htm Sorry if this was brought up in another thread. Looks like a pretty cool documentary. Anyone seen it yet? I think it's selling for about 30 bucks online.

Yeah, the "Cerveceros" thing is kinda lame, if you ask me. I mean, they already did a Negro League uniform earlier this year, but that made sense, since it was the uniform of the old Milwaukee Bears (Negro League team that played one season in Milwaukee). The Cerveceros thing has no historical connection. It's just blatant pandering to the Hispanic community, along with this new sausage. Oh well, if it makes them enough money to buy some bullpen help, I guess it all works out.

America is a free, capitalist economy, though. How can you single out one type of store for punishment? Competition is good for the consumers. -

Are you sure you're not thinking of Dr. D, Dave Schultz? I know he attacked Vince backstage, IIRC.

If a dog or other animal kills a person, what do we do? We euthanize it, for the good of the community. If a person thinks out to kill someone, what do we do? Put them on trial, treat them with kid gloves, and probably never actually carry out the death sentence, if one somehow gets passed on them. It doesn't make sense to me.

The man is smart. -
Because global warming would be the only reason to introduce further controls on pollution. Fuck clean air, clean water, and health benefits.
-
That wouldn't fly. Our Congress wouldn't allow it (at least I think they wouldn't). There would be open rebellion in America if something like that passed, because that's starting to get into some really Orwellian/Revelation type territory.

I don't understand why we're so squeamish about killing murderers in this country. We worry about the rights of the accused. Who worried about the rights of these kids as they were being drowned to death by their mother?

Bah...everyone knows they're married, and they've been doing the whole "I wonder who the father is *wink wink*" thing on TV for the past several weeks anyway.

Wow, just think of all the classic matches Sting has had in TNA, like...um... I think he wrestled Jeff Jarrett one time, and had a tag team match with Christian that was OK...

Where's the criticism for Hezbollah, who started this essential war? Or the criticism for the Lebanese government, who was supposed to disarm Hezbollah over the past six years? (Yes, I know they're impotent to do anything, but that's the UN's fault, which is also a completely impotent and useless organization). I think it's time for the US to think about leaving the UN if this keeps up. How much do we do for them? What have they really done for us?

In Wisconsin, they're having similar issues. I don't think forcing them to pay a higher wage is the answer, because that is going to have massive unintended consequences for smaller stores. The problem with places like Wal-Mart is that they abuse state health care systems. Wal-Mart is the largest employer in Wisconsin, but they have more employees on "BadgerCare" (the state's health care system) than any other company. It's stuff like that which should be ended. -
I think that I'd have to give the edge to WCW '97...the roster was huge, but it had a good mix of main eventers, a solid midcard, veterans, cruiserweights, luchas, a few Japanese guys, a good tag scene, etc. My second pick would be WCW '89, third would be WWF 2000.

OK, Bagwell sucks, but you have to admit that's at least a neat idea.

They were interviewing her husband yesterday on TV, and he said that "she posed no threat to society." What a crock. She killed five children. I sure don't want her breathing any free air.

Hezbollah builds missile launchers in civilian houses. Every Lebanese civilian that is killed is their fault, not Israel's. Hey, how about all those Israelis who've been killed so far? How about the fact that Hezbollah fired 100 rockets into Israel again yesterday? Is the life of an Israeli worth less than a Lebanese one?

Only play with money you can afford to use, and definitely set a limit for what you're going to spend. Don't plan on winning anything, because you probably won't. If you do happen to win, set that aside and just play with the rest of the money you brought, so you can at least come out even.
