Sounds like this will be for the PS3, if you follow some of the "hints" they've given on the board over there.

Yeah, with the economy being how it is, a lot of people are cutting back on that kind of stuff...I could never personally justify spending 10 bucks or whatever a month to play an online game, and sure wouldn't do it now.

Yeah, I've never gotten into the simming thing either. I think a lot of those people got into it because as far as one player action, FPR is pretty limited...being there is no real story mode or anything. Yeah, tweaking the logic can be somewhat fun, but seriously how long can you keep adjusting numbers with the different edits you've made before it gets old? That goes back to one thing...I hope if there is a new Fire Pro game, it has some sort of story mode or at least a "beat all the guys in the game to unlock some hidden characters and win the belt" thing, like the older Fire Pro games. The lack of any story mode in FPR was a downer, IMHO. Of course, it would help to know what system this new game will be on (assuming it is a new game).

Played the PS3 demo a bit yesterday, and I wasn't overly impressed. The graphics and sound are good, but I hate the way the characters move, and the move sets seem really limited. Maybe I just didn't have the controls down yet, but the movements didn't seem very fluid at all. I'll probably pass on this.

The US Economy and Current Financial Crisis

Supposedly some of the AIG execs will be returning their bonuses now. If so, this is a good day for America, and I'm glad for it. The public outrage and death threats worked. Hopefully the government and public will continue to hold corporate America (and others) responsible for their failures going forward. -
Seems like the speculation is leaning towards a new game or a remake with online capability. I don't know...I've played basically all the Fire Pro games since 6 Man Scramble. Don't know if I would run out and buy a new Fire Pro, especially if it's import only again.

Wow, I'm surprised to hear the Cubs hadn't retired Jenkins' number earlier. He's only been in the Hall for almost 20 years now. Then again this is the same team that still has the little "Sammy" flag flying high.

Austin said Jarrett wasn't high enough on the card to have a main event feud yet. At least that's what I seem to remember.

The US Economy and Current Financial Crisis

From Drudge: "Sen. Charles Grassley wants AIG executives to apologize for the collapse of the insurance giant—but said Tuesday that "obviously" he didn't really mean that they should kill themselves. The Iowa Republican raised eyebrows with his comments Monday that the executives—under fire for passing out big bonuses even as they were taking a taxpayer bailout—perhaps should "resign or go commit suicide." I thought he had the right idea the first time, personally. I think we need to make corporate America a little more uncomfortable, especially right now. -
I always thought that was so weird...basically a Japanese gimmick brought into what was still at the time basically a southern US wrestling promotion. Though I guess they did have guys like Kabuki and Muta before that.

I think anyone with a lick of common sense knows the Savage/Stephanie rumors are bullshit. I mean, all these years go by, and not one veteran wrestler or former WWF employee mentions it in a shoot interview or something? Come on. My guess is Vince really soured on Savage around '96 when he was supposed to come back, like someone else mentioned.
-
So how come the other networks don't call out Fox News for their bullshit more often?
-
No one cares about Snuka because WWF/WWE has constantly trotted him out for nostalgia pops since about 1996. And wow, quite a letdown of a segment after all that hype.

Speaking of wearing tights at inappropriate times, Chris Benoit seemed to be a big abuser of this one. I remember when he showed up on RAW right when his big push started after his Royal Rumble win, he was wearing full ring gear. And no shirt, either. I thought that was kind of weird. Kind of creepy in retrospect. How about when a babyface is getting beat up, and it takes like ten minutes for anyone to come to his/her rescue? That always seems kind of silly. I remember a lot of people noted how bad that was when Hornswaggle got destroyed by JBL in that cage match on an episode of RAW. At least they usually get it right with heel stables, where the Horsemen would always be right out to save Flair, or Legacy seems to be somewhat on the ball when it comes to saving Randy Orton.

Sounds like Braun left the game early yesterday due to soreness in his right side. Probably nothing too serious, but it sounds like he could be done playing for the USA.

Man, this sucks. I actually kind of liked him during his first run in the company. Just another example of how the wrestling industry is a complete and total meat grinder, I guess. Also, WTF is with the thread title? Change it already...geez.

Wasn't that a pretty mediocre RPG? I never played it, as I never had a Genesis back in the day. Pretty good collection...the Shinobi game is pretty kick ass. Reminds me of "Symphony of the Night" on Playstation in some ways.

I don't think they were ever really going to get married. I don't think they even had a date set or anything. I'm sure Palin's people just convinced the kids to go along with the story so it wouldn't make the situation look any worse for conservative voters.
-
I don't think they own the rights to that footage.
-
I'd have to believe they could have. Back in 2000/2001, wrestling was still considered a somewhat popular commodity.

Anything containing the phrase "North American Union" automatically fails.

Well, hopefully Obama is the kind of president who isn't going to stick to Cold War rhetoric, and will be able not to kowtow to the population of just one major US city.

The annual hand wringing over the Hall of Fame is always amusing. This isn't sacred like the Baseball Hall of Fame, folks. It's Vince McMahon's Hall of Fame. Guys like Mikel Scicluna, James Dudley, and Johnny f'n Rodz are in it...Koko B. Ware going in isn't that offensive in the grand scheme of things. Also, in defense of Koko, while he was a glorified JTTS in WWF, he held some minor NWA belts and was a big deal for a while in places like Memphis.

Seeing how more than half the other news shows on cable are more entertainment than hard news, I would say "Yes, absolutely."

I bet NASCAR pulled in a ton more ad revenue than WCW, though.
