Well, my understanding is that the Palestinians are generally better educated than people in other Arab countries...so, for example, the house of Saud doesn't want them in Saudi Arabia because they would probably end up calling for the royal family to be overthrown and for free elections to be held. I'm surprised the international community isn't already coming down harder on Israel on this at this point. Usually the UN would've already passed a resolution condeming Israel. Is the rest of the world finally realizing the position Israel is in, or is this just a short reprieve? On the other hand, Russia and France are calling for Israel to be more restrained...not that Israel has any real reason to listen to them. As an aside...the only way Israel could hit Iran would be with missiles of some kind...their warplanes wouldn't even be able to get there before having to either ditch after the mission, or refuel somewhere else, which probably won't happen.

The weird thing about the Quebecers was that one month, Jacques Rougeau was the Mountie, and a little while later he's just "Jacques of the Quebecers", and they didn't really explain the transition, even though it was obvious he was the same guy. I mean, even their theme music was a parody of the Mountie's music.

I don't think Vince hated Snuka. He realized towards the end of the first Hogan era that he needed to build his promotion around younger guys. Snuka simply didn't fit into those plans. I'm sure Snuka was just glad to be employed at that point. I mean, he still was made to look strong against regular jobbers and stuff on WWF Superstars, etc. BTW, what did Snuka do after he left WWF the second time (must've been '91 or '92)? I know he eventually showed up in ECW, but did he go anywhere else in between then?

bigolsmitty, OK, I guess you could say most of those were coverups. I don't know though...some of those I would say fall into the category of "CIA or military operations", rather than coverups. I mean, yeah, if the government decides they need to off some dictator, of course they're not going to announce it on the news, but eventually, those types of operations either become declassified or simply become public knowledge. As for Watergate...well, they couldn't even coverup a simple break in. That kind of disproves that the government assassinated JFK or faked the moon landing, doesn't it?

That's exactly what will happen. (Well, maybe not the potato part...that would be too extreme for the UN to consider). I think Israel should expell all the Palestinians and end this thing once and for all. If the rest of the Arab world cares so much about the Palestinians, let them reside in their own countries, since it's become obvious they cannot co-exist with the Israelis in peace. After that, Israel can defend itself with its missiles, and build a wall around its borders, etc.

Does this mean we'll have to arrest all the Packer fans in Wisconsin? I'm for this. As a Wisconsinite, I would be for it. I mean, I like the Packers and all, but when it's the middle of summer and you have teams like the Brewers actually, you know, PLAYING...then the radio stations shouldn't all be talking about Packers training camp constantly, what Brett Favre had for lunch, and other meaningless crap like that.

I think Olmert sees that the never ending situation between Israel and the Palestinians (and now Lebanon) needs to end. How much longer should they tolerate constant terrorist attacks, civilians being killed, and now soldiers being kidnapped? Clearly Israel has no real partners for peace from Hamas or Hezbollah, so why not destroy them and be done with it?

I'm sure in a big city you can find people like that all the time, though. Also, Israel has taken out Lebanon's international airport in Beirut, and has stated that they're going to either push Hezbollah back from Israel's northern border or destroy them completely. Good for them.

No, it's not the philosophy I'm against. I think it's perfectly fine to tell people to "go out and vote," but when the institutions proclaiming it are at the same time running articles about how "Bush smokes marijuana while watching inmates get executed" (seriously, someone wrote something like that in Rolling Stone), I think it needs to be taken with a few shakers of salt.

You realize being Jewish can also mean simply being ethnically Jewish (while possibly adhering to religions other than Judaism)? Israel is a secular state, so your whole argument is a moot point. Israel needs to exist, and has a right to defend itself against the barbarians.

I think the idea of the youth voting movement was finally killed off in the last presidential election, seeing how the percentage of eligible young voters who actually voted was the same as in 2000, despite Rolling Stone and MTV trying to get out the vote, etc. (In a _completely_ unpartisan vote drive...)

What happened to "winning their hearts and minds?" See, this is why Bush needs to be accountable...it's not even the fact that we invaded Iraq, it's that it has gone so poorly due to poor planning, etc. I know our troops are doing good, and making progress, etc...but when is enough, enough? If the current administration thinks we can wait 'til Iraq is a mini-USA to pull out, Bush is mistaken.

I don't know the stance of those Hassidic Jews in the picture you posted, but I'm sure you could dredge up some black people who thought slavery was good if you tried hard enough, too. There are fringe extremists within any ethnic group. I wasn't saying being anti-Zionist automatically meant anti-Semitism. However, I do question the motives of someone who is anti-Zionist. Most I know or have read, are blatantly pro-Palestinian (or pro-Arab), and excuse Hamas and Hezbollah because Israel is supposedly an evil entity, etc.

Anyone who says they're "anti-Zionist" is basically saying they want Israel destroyed, which is just totally wrong and backwards. I agree with KingPK's comments about cable news 100%. Most of the news coverage on CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, etc. is just awful. Too much focus on fluff, and too much wild speculation and interviews with random "experts", rather than actual news gathering.

Agreed. I often wonder how these statistics you hear about "x amount of children go to bed hungry in this country each night" are found. Not saying it doesn't happen, but I find it hard to believe with the abundance of social services in this country that people are forced to starve. Certainly not on a consistent basis. If kids are starving, guess whose fault it is...it's not the government's fault, it's the parent's. I think "progressive" liberal thinking is taking over this country at an alarming rate.
