I don't understand how MLB can just let a guy start playing in the middle of the season. I know they can't do anything about it, but barring injuries, I think you should either play the whole season or not play at all. It just rubs me the wrong way. Also, it seems unfair that one team can spend extra money to acquire an ace pitcher in the middle of the season, but most other teams have to make a trade to get someone like that.

Well, Lashley does have an amateur background, apparently. He also uses some similar suplexs and such. I don't think he's really had a chance to show off his technical side, since he's basically been doing Goldberg-esque squashes lately.

Best news I've heard this morning.

"The devil is 6...and if God is 7...this monkey's gone to heaven."

And...the Brewers make it an official win. Turnbow gets save #2 of the season. Can he surpass his number of 39 last year? Could happen at this rate.
-
Well, I spoke too soon. The Pirates are mounting a comeback, and Jeromy Burnitz just hit his 300th career home run, making it a slim Brewers lead, 6-5. Jose Capellan did not pitch well in that inning.

Brewers are on their way to beating the Pirates again tonight, ensuring they take the series.

If I have to wrestle a big bald guy in WWE wrestle, I'd rather watch Vito than Tomko.

Which wrestlers have held multiple titles simultaneously in the WWE?

I hated the Austin/Undertaker tag team. It was another one of those Vince Russo "they hate each other but they have to team up", scenarios. Plus, neither of them needed to be a tag team champion at that point. -
Brewers won yesterday and looked good. That's all I care about. Carlos Lee and JJ Hardy both homered. Turnbow gets his first save of the year.

At Backlash, HBK should have Lillian anounce God...music starts playing...and out walks someone in a mask (preferably someone big like Big Show or Kane, whatever). They proceed to beat the hell out of Shane and Vince, beating them so badly both men are knocked out and bleeding all over by the end. After the match "God" proclaims that he's damning the McMahons to hell for their evil ways.

Anyone else think that this new Armando guy was awesome, playing a Cuban Ric Flair type? I thought he was great, but when he brought out Jamal, it was a total let down. Are they seriously going to do a Ric Flair vs Umaga (what a stupid name) feud?

I don't know...I have more faith in Groening than you guys. The movie has been rumored for a long time, and I'd assume they've been working on a plot for some time (if not having an actual script done by this point). The impression I've always had is that Groening feels that if they do the movie, it's going to be good.

Team Canada seems to be just a bunch of random guys. They're the equivalent of the Spirit Squad on RAW but less gay.

His outfit could just be what he wore in those Great American Bash promo shots from a couple years ago.

That's Tony Schiavone. Oh, you mean the guy in green? Um...I think it might be Evad Sullivan, but the video being a little blurry it's hard to make out for sure.
-
Problem is, out of all those guys, Orton and Angle have the most straightforward personas. Maybe Angle could've had some big US patriotic display entrance or something (like Apollo Creed in Rocky V but not as cheesy and without the music). Not sure what they could've done with Orton.

Well, fair enough, but I still don't agree with your assessment of the proposed card. On one hand you rip RVD/Benoit because the past matches have sucked...at the same time HBK and Shelton have had some very good matches in the past and you say that would be pointless? I think Cena/Batista/Orton makes sense as those guys _should_ at that point be like Austin/Rock/HHH were about five years ago. They're clearly the future of the company, and have been built up the most, like it or not. Lashley and Angle could have a perfectly fine wrestling match. Angle's days are numbered...who knows if he'll even be able to wrestle next year? But, Lashley is being built up as a monster face, and Angle putting him over would make total sense. I'm not going to dissect the rest of the card because again, we're just talking hypothetical, but I think you're too quick to jump on someone who was just trying to make the point that you could have a good card without Austin/Hogan.
-
That, is an atrocious line up. First off, RVD/Benoit has been done and it wasn't worth seeing a second time. Flair/Hogan? WTF. We've seen this 20,999 times. Hogan, isn't going to work a match with Flair again. Yeah, slap the three newest stars of WWE in one match, brilliantly idiotic. HHH/Edge can't work because someone needs to turn face and neither should be a face. UT/Rey, is a criminally bad choice for a Mania. Rey, usually catches backlash in giant killer storylines and no one really will take Mysterio seriously enough against UT. Foley/Finlay? Finlay, doesn't work hardcore style and he doesn't have the personality to work a storyline with Foley. Way to waste Angle. HBK/Benjamin is pointless. You can't just slap people together and call it a "great" card. You're forgetting that there would be 12 months to build to that card. Plenty of time to turn people and advance storylines. It's just a hypothetical card. I'm sure if last year someone had said Triple H vs Cena and Angle/Orton/Rey would headline Wrestlemania, you would've called that idiotic, too.
-
That card would actually have me pretty interested, honestly. You'd probably have to get a few more guys in like JBL, and get some tag matches and at least one women's match, but overall that would be pretty solid. Flair/Hogan would only work if it actually is their last match, once and for all, though.
-
Yes, I understand they have egos. If they didn't, the match would already be booked. Hell, it already would have happened. My point is that it's stupid, and there's no reason for it. Look at Rock vs Hogan...did Hogan jobbing really make him look any worse? No, because the match was huge, and was well booked. Both men looked like the two biggest stars in wrestling, ever, after that match. You'd think Hogan would've taken that lesson and would just tell Steve Austin "Look, brother, I'll do the job if you work with me at Wrestlemania. Let's sell the place out." Austin is much younger than Hogan, so it wouldn't make sense for him to job anyway, since he could conceivably come back for more matches down the road while Hogan is pretty much out of gas at this point.
-
Prego GM Steph would only be good if a heel punches her in the stomach. Post-WM RAWs tend to feature debuting wrestlers, or at least promos for soon to arrive wrestlers. Maybe someone like Test or CM Punk shows up tonight?
-
The thing is, why would either of them really care about jobbing at this point? They both have had huge careers with impressive legacys that one match isn't going to erase. It would be just sad if the only reason the match doesn't happen is because one won't swallow his ego for three seconds. I mean, this would be the kind of match where the finish doesn't even really matter.
-
As far as bringing DX back, I have a hard time believing they'd drag that up from that long ago. Remember when they tried that "one night return of DX", where Hunter turned on HBK, about five years ago? I think that was the last we'll ever see of DX again.
-
Adding to that, yeah, supposedly Quinones would force guys to perform certain, favors, on him in exchange for employment/pushes. Obviously, it's all rumors and unverifiable, but the stories seemed to follow him pretty consistently from what I've read.
