Yes, I killed Bruiser Brody...no wait, that was Jose Gonzalez.

Good points. It's clear Triple H is the better worker than Cena, and that he cares about his craft. I'm not saying Cena doesn't care or try, but Triple H definitely puts the effort in each night, like him or not. Remember when Cena debuted on Smackdown and took it to Kurt Angle? Remember how much everyone was talking about him after that match, comparing him to guys like Sting and Shawn Michaels? That's the Cena I want to see in the ring. That wrestler and his current character don't have to be mutually exclusive. Right now he's basically a watered down, more gimmicky version of Stone Cold.

Austin vs Hogan would be pretty much terrible from a technical standpoint, but phenomenal from a heat standpoint. That's all there is to it. I mean, there's no question it would get as much heat as Rock/Hogan, if not more, which was pretty insane. I made this point earlier and no one commented on it, but basically, I don't hold it against WWE that they want to have this match. I hold it against them that they basically _need_ to have this match, for the biggest show of the year. WWE really needs to build up some new superstars. Cena isn't cutting it, and there's no one else who comes close to Rock or Austin type overness.

I think that was around for like, a month. The problem with Big Show is that every time he comes back to WWE after an injury or whatever, they try and make it a big deal, but he's exactly same character. He comes out with the same blah theme, using the same finisher (yeah, I know he's tried to change it a couple times, but it never sticks), and he always comes off as this lazy comedy figure. He needs a total revamp at this point, but I don't think they care enough to change anything about him. I thought we were actually going to see him change a bit during that "injured hand" angle with Triple H, but then Hunter beat him and it was back to the same old Show.
-
I could see them going somewhere like Cena having his own gang, then gradually relying on them to beat up his opponents backstage and cheat for him, finally turning him heel. Cena could pull it off, cutting a promo where he buries all his "haters" in the crowd and says that he has to pick his own friends, or something.

Yes, and it should have been changed about five years ago.

Technically, MNM were in the battle royal before the show. But yeah, they should have been on the PPV. I asked this in the other thread, but I think it's relevant here: What do they do with Triple H this time? It's not good enough for him to come out and say "yeah, Cena, you got lucky this time, kid." He's done that the last three or four times he's done a major job. Maybe he can re-form Evolution or something (though that kind of goes against his current character).

BTW, what did everyone think of Misterio winning? Sounds like the match was a little too short, but still, who would've seriously thought even six months ago we would've been seeing Rey win the World Heavyweight Title at Wrestlemania?

This place is never happy. There is always something to bitch about here. Yes, and I understand that is part of what makes an internet message board tick, but at the same time, the hypocrisy here is pretty thick, at least as far as HHH-Cena is concerned. FWIW, I thought the HHH pic of him dressed in costume looked cool. Wrestlemania is the place for overdone outfits and such. At least it used to be.
-
Would you guys seriously have been happy if HHH had won? I seriously have a hard time believing this board wouldn't have been flooded with comments like "HHH won...big surprise, thanks Steph," etc. I don't like Cena, but did you guys really want HHH to go over?
-
My question is...where do they go with HHH after this? Clearly he'll get another title shot soon (probably at the next PPV). But frankly, he can't just go out and cut another "you got lucky, kid" promos this time. They need to figure out a better way to re-build him after putting over Cena like that.

I'd love to just see Flair break out one move he's never used before, even if it's something like a simple baseball slide or a DDT or something.
-
Well, one match in and one of my predictions from the other thread already got shot down.

I always thought someone like Awesome and Saturn would've made a really great tag team.

What film plots are you sick and tired of?

Those really awful "black" movies like "Big Momma's House" or whatever where all the characters act like racist caricatures. I'm not black, but if I were I'd be really offended that this was how my race was being pandered to. -
Sounded like he was a fairly scummy guy from all accounts I've heard, but too bad he's dead at such a young age.

WWE Championship John Cena Vs. HHH Triple H is going over. No doubt in my mind. Cena's reign has been a bomb, and it's no secret. World Heavyweight Championship Kurt Angle Vs. Rey Mysterio Vs. Randy Orton Misterio wins, for the feel good moment of the year. Of course, he'll probably job it next month to Orton (or possibly Angle in a 1-on-1 rematch). This match probably goes on last. Money In The Bank Match Bobby Lashley Vs. Fit Finley Vs. Matt Hardy Vs. Shelton Benjamin Vs. RVD Vs. Ric Flair I think Lashley takes it, after how he's been put over on Smackdown recently. Only other winners that make any sense would be RVD, but they've barely done anything with him since he's come back...Flair is the sentimental favorite, but I think he falls just short of winning. I still think we'll see Flair wrestle for a world title somehow down the line, and it's not critical he wins it here. No Holds Barred Shawn Michaels Vs. Vince McMahon Match that shouldn't be taking place. HBK wins, as it's the only result that makes a lick of sense. Hopefully this is the last we see of Vince on TV for quite a long while. Note to WWE: I don't want to see Shawn vs Shane on a pay-per-view, no matter how you dress it up. Hardcore Match Mick Foley Vs. Edge Foley goes over to get his one big Wrestlemania win. Casket Match Undertaker Vs. Mark Henry You think Henry is ending Undertaker's streak? I sure don't. Undertaker wins for sure. US Title Match Chris Benoit Vs. JBL Benoit retains. I don't see any real reason for JBl to win the US Title at this point. I have a feeling this is going to be a great match, though. Their styles should complement each other really nicely. World Tag Team Titles Big Show & Kane Vs. Carlito & Masters Carlito and Masters should win here, and I think WWE has enough sense to know that it's time to get the belts off the two giants, after what has been a very unremarkable extended title reign. Hopefully Carlito and Masters could have a Davey Boy/Owen Hart type run with the belts, where they always tease turning on each other, but keep holding the belts for a while. Maybe Show or Kane turn on the other after this match? Sure, the matches would be terrible, but it would be one of those feuds the marks would be into, because WWE would do some of those "feats of strength" spots that look good on TV. Boogeyman Vs. Booker T & Sharmell I get the feeling Boogeyman is going to be around for a while yet, so I think he goes over to finally get the payoff for this silly feud. Booker T can move onto bigger and better things, and hopefully get one last run in the main event scene before he calls it quits. Boogeyman should squash lower card guys on Smackdown for a while if they want to build him into something credible, and then feud with Undertaker down the line. Again, the matches would be awful, but WWE would have a field day using their special effects and TV editing tricks. Womans Title Match Trish Stratus Vs. Mickie James Trish's reign comes to an end tonight. Mickie is a good enough worker where she can have a decent run with the belt and make the division seem fresh. Pillow Fight Torie Wilson Vs. Candice Michelle I absolutely don't care. I suppose Candice wins because she's the current Playboy girl. No one's watching this one to see who wins anyway.

Well, the WWE loves to insinuate that the above match will happen at some point, but it doesn't sound like anything is remotely set in stone as of right now. All indications at this point have been that Austin isn't interested in doing the match. Maybe Vince will just throw a bunch of money at both guys to convince them, but we'll see. Frankly, I am sick of the WWE needing to bring back "legends" constantly to add interest. There shouldn't have to be a reliance on guys like Austin or Hogan to sell out the biggest show of the year. They should have at least a couple guys currently on the roster that they can match up to do it. It just goes to show how they really haven't been able to build up a new Rock or Austin type superstar. Cena doesn't even come close, and his mixed reactions prove it.
-
The thing is, does TNA really even _need_ to bring back anyone at this point? Their roster is pretty full, and they only have one hour of TV a week (discounting Xplosion, which most people can't see). None of the guys named really have enough name value to generate any extra interest in the product. And yeah, bringing back Low Ki would be cool, but that would just push out someone like Chris Sabin or Sonjay Dutt, who have been around for a while and are ready to move up in the X Division.
-
Wow, guys, I'm impressed. No one has posted the obligatory "I totally forgot there's a PPV this weekend (because I hate WWE and I'm a liar)" statement yet.
-
Sounds like a neat card, though I'm guessing most of the matches weren't anything spectacular. Kind of nice to think back to the days when wrestling was getting hot in the US again, and you could put on a legit supercard without just WWE guys.

Exactly. They are the barbarians of our age. To pretend otherwise is ignorance. -
Doing it for the troops, again? Uh...what troops, Carmen Sandiego? The US doesn't have any troops in Israel, at least officially.

The OAO '2006 Hall of Fame ceremony' thread.
Dobbs 3K replied to CBright7831's topic in The WWE Folder
It would be awesome if Dibiase was in full "Million Dollar Man" heel mode, and talked about how he used to sell off Sherri to the highest bidder, and how he could buy and sell Vince's company if he wanted to. "Hahahaha!" -
I don't know...after the way they put over Lashley last week on Smackdown, I could see him taking the Money in the Bank match. Personally, I have a feeling that somehow RVD will win. Of course, everything WWE has done with RVD in his entire tenure there makes me think otherwise.
