Well, I think it's obvious at this point that Palin is at least giving serious thought to a run in 2012, so she has to do as much spin and damage control as possible right now. There are a lot of Republican pundits out there helping her out...I heard Hannity talking the other day about how she helped energize the base, and how the claims about her not knowing Africa is a continent are "ludicrous and false," etc. They were also up in arms about all the attention given to her clothing budget. Which is funny because if either of the Obamas or Joe Biden had somehow spent even half that much on their wardrobe, people like Hannity and Limbaugh would have talked about it non-stop.

You wouldn't have to completely "civilize" Umaga...just have him start talking a bit. They could make the first time he speaks English kind of a big deal, like when Kane first spoke. Really I'm surprised Umaga hasn't been stuck in a tag team at this point.

I wonder if WWE could talk Sting to coming in to do one match at like a WM or something, and have an agreement where Sting gets full control of what he's doing, etc. They could include an induction into the WWE Hall of Fame, etc. Of course, there'd probably be little incentive for WWE to do that other than to help pop one buyrate. That isn't usually how Vince McMahon works.

I don't know. I think Manu fits as the muscle/enforcer type of the group. I could easily see them doing an angle where Dibiase comes back all pissed off, blames Manu for the group's problems, and gets Cody to turn on him. Then maybe Manu goes face and teams up with some one (any other Samoans they're looking to bring up?) to feud with the Priceless group.

Had Sid just given him a back suplex or something?

People were happy to buy them, yes. They were catering to immediate market demand, but they should have been able to see the bigger, more long term, picture. The writing was on the wall and they decided to go for the quick bucks, rather than prepare for the future. As far as Bush, would you rather he went the Mitt Romney route and started promising people jobs that were never going to come back?

I could kind of see that down the line. It's too bad he wasn't blessed with his dad's bulk and in-ring skills (well, he probably has the mat skills, just not the size). The presence of Rhodes and Dibiase already would kind of make him a fifth wheel with Manu already in the mix. He could always leave for a couple months and go to OVW, and come back with an altered hair cut and look as Terry Ray Gordy, and most marks wouldn't realize he was Jesse anyway, as long as he dropped the hokey accent.

Oh, hell yes, I know. I live less than half an hour away from a GM plant that is closing before the end of the year, and that closure could affect as many as between 5,000-10,000 local jobs, depending on who you listen to (numbers are including local suppliers that are closing, and other service industries). One of my best friends was already laid off from there. The thing is, this is already happening. I don't know if a ton of money from the government is necessarily going to guarantee any kind of long term solution.

Well, as far as I know, it's not illegal for swear words to air on cable networks. They just usually don't allow it so they don't get too many people up in arms.

A bailout would seem to be a band aid on a gaping wound at this point, if the companies aren't going to seriously change their product philosophies, and streamline operations significantly. I guess what it boils down to is whether or not it would be bad for no more American owned auto production to exist in this country. It seems like the European and Japanese companies are so far ahead of the Big Three, that it's going to be hard for them to remain relevant. What is an American car anymore, frankly? Toyota, BMW, etc. all have production in this country anyway, while GM has moved a lot of production out of the US.

It would be a nice pickup to bolster WWE, that's for sure. Really, at this point in his career, I doubt Christian would be going back if he was just going to end up being a JTTS. He could just tell them "No, I'm not doing that", if they want him to start putting over people like crazy. He strikes me as a smart guy who has probably saved his money.
-
Obama is apparently urging Bush to further bail out the auto industry. I'm not sure if I'm in favor of that or not. It's the fault of companies like GM and Chrysler that they're in the position they're in. Supposedly Obama would require them to develop more fuel efficient and energy friendly vehicles, which I guess would be a plus.

WCW facts, tidbits, and stuff people forgot
Dobbs 3K replied to JoeDirt's topic in General Wrestling
I remember Bret appearing on WCW Live (WCW's online radio show...I think that's what it was called, anyway), and detailing who idiotically he had been handled since coming to WCW. It sure didn't sound like it was just Bret being a whiner that was at fault. He mentioned how he was sometimes flown in to shows and not even used, and they kept changing his chracter's direction over and over, with stuff like becoming the "nWo recruiter" and crap. -
I don't think so. I do remember "Ray Gordy" appearing in a jobber role a couple years ago (I think on an episode of Smackdown), and I don't believe they mentioned it even then. Kind of weird, since a New Freebirds or Freebird-esque group in the future with Terry Gordy Jr. would seem to be a no-brainer as a midcard tag team act. Although Jesse and Festus seem to be doing fine.

Come on guys, Lena and Gail do look quite a bit alike. It's not just that they're both Asian women. The comparison to Henry and R-Truth is ridiculous. WWE has too many divas as is...cutting two or three of them would not be all that bad. Katie Lea should stay though...she's pretty decent in the ring, looks good, and is definitely in shape. It's also nice that she doesn't look like every other woman in WWE right now.

Well, no one responded to my original question about funding an industry that is already awash in cash.
-
Well, I think stem cell research is fine, I just don't see why the government has to give money to an already wealthy medical industry to fund it...
-
The story I read was really vague. Is it for sure he did it completely intentionally? I assume it was, but weirder accidents have happened.

Yeah, the whole "FAIL" thing is already passe. Is it that hard to post a funny picture without adding your own stupid comment to it?

So, how was it?

Paul London and Chuck Palumbo Released.
Dobbs 3K replied to Hunter's Torn Quad's topic in The WWE Folder
I wish WWE would just quit hiring cruiserweight types for the most part, since they don't even have a belt for them anymore, and Vince has made it clear he doesn't give a crap about them to begin with. Still, London had a way longer run with the company than anyone would have expected. As far as Chuck Palumbo, I remember laughing at the guy when he first debuted on WCW Saturday Night, roughly ten years ago. He too probably got more notoriety and made more money than anyone would have envisioned back then. Now, hopefully TNA doesn't immediately sign either one of them. -
I remmeber the "Untrue Story of Professional Wrestling" one being really good. Haven't seen it in years, though.

The president wants us all to buy a new flat panel TV. Think about the boys in Iraq, dammit.

Put me in the list of people that didn't even realize Crazy was still with the company. Good riddance.

Not sure if this belongs in here, but ESPN had another report this morning, saying MLB will not allow Mark Cuban to buy the Chicago Cubs.
