  1. Test could've been fine if WWE had ever decided if they were going to push him or not. It seemed like one week on RAW he'd squash someone decisively, the next he'd be wrestling some scrub on Heat. And yeah, the big boot is way overdone as a finisher.

  3. Test already wrestles in TNA under his real name, Lance Hoyt.

Well, sports like football and basketball particularly benefit from the widescreen aspect ratio due to the fact that the playing fields are rectangular. Surround sound definitely adds to the experience...I've always thought WWE could benefit from this a lot. Imagine hearing the in ring sounds and commentary in front of you, and the crowd noise from the back. That would be pretty cool.

Nope, have not seen that yet. Local UPN affiliate I can pick up does broadcast digitally, but Smackdown comes pillarboxed. Looks a little cleaner than the regular analog feed on cable, but definitely is not HD quality.

    World Baseball Classic

Yeah, I don't think it's fair to say there's no interest in the tournament with USA out of it...the new round starts today, IIRC.

Most forgettable stint in a promotion

I just remember thinking he looked really out of place in WCW.
  8. Arnold, I think the simple fact is there have been very, very few true jobbers who have gone on to main event success.

Almost sounds like something RVD would wear. Man, I remember a lot of my friends were convinced it was a second Ultimate Warrior. Some of the rumors: - Died from a steroid overdose. - Killed in a car accident. - Killed in a weight lifting accident while doing bench presses and got his chest crushed. Boy, we were dumb. Frankly, I never thought he looked _that_ different from his original appearance, other than changing his hair a little bit.

I think the only reason Coach is still on the RAW broadcast team is because Vince doesn't want to admit he made a mistake by trying to make him the main play-by-play guy after J.R. was "fired."

Y2Jerk, I think you might be confusing a digital broadcast with HD. True HDTV is only 16:9 widescreen, not 4:3. A 4:3 show can be broadcast digitally, though. Good point about widescreen TVs though, since that's the whole point of widescreen broadcasts.

How far back does WWE's Tape Library go?

I remember hearing about one of the NWA territories that simply threw away all their tapes when they closed down. Not sure which one, but it's believable, I guess.

    Some exclusive Tna News !!

Probably more exciting than the Bubba/Spike team was in WWE. Honestly, the Dudley Boyz are the ultimate example of the downside to not having more promotions in the US anymore. Their gimmick is pretty one dimensional, and you can only take them for a while before they _should_ move on to another territory. Instead, they tend to overstay their welcome. I don't think they've gotten to that point in TNA, but after their first couple tag team title reigns, it's going to happen.

I think Warrior just liked to change up his look every once in a while. This is the same guy that that had about a million different color variations for his title belt. Remember when he switched to wearing a singlet style outfit (think Kurt Angle's tights) for a while? I always thought that was pretty weird looking.

Most forgettable stint in a promotion

Don't know if this was mentioned already, but does anyone remember Jim Neidhart's early '90s run in WCW? I could be imagining it, but I think it must have been around '92 or '93. I think it was between his "New Foundation" tag team with Owen Hart, and then coming back to the WWF to help Owen in his feud with Bret.

What was the biggest crowd pop EVER?

"HHH's return from the quad tear at MSG in January 2002." I honestly remember thinking that the crowd pop wasn't anywhere as big as HHH was expecting during that one.
  17. Actually, a Palumbo/Vito team if given a decent push could make for a pretty formidable tag team.

    Tom Fox (hostage) Murdered

Now if only Cindy Sheehan would go over there...
  19. People summed it up well...Malenko was basically just the fourth "Radical." He won the LHW belt almost immediately to bring some shine back to it, and had a good match against Scotty 2 Hotty. Then he had a somewhat interesting feud with the Hardys involving Lita, but that faded pretty quickly. Oh, he had cool theme music too. He did have some interesting matches on shows like Sunday Night Heat, but obviously mostly just squashes over jobbers that no one really saw. I think he deserves a proper retirement match, though. Best US technical wrestlers of the last fifteen years, IMO.

My question is, does anyone really honestly WANT Jim Ross back as an announcer? I agree that the way they wrote him off from RAW sucked and was in very bad taste, but I haven't enjoyed listening to the guy since about 2000, if not earlier. I couldn't stand his constant repetition of the same one liners. It was like he called every match in the exact same fashion. I much prefer the three man team at this point, especially with Joey Styles as the play by play man. If they feel the need to bring back JR for SNME, fine, but I don't want him back on a regular basis. Frankly, if I had my way, Vince wouldn't be involved in any storylines, and we'd have a pseudo-old school announce team of Vince and Jim Ross and/or Jerry Lawler calling the matches.
  21. Here's my stock Chuck Palumbo story: I recall watching an episode of WCW Saturday Night, it must have been in some time in '99, IIRC. This particular episode was hyped as featuring several rookie wrestlers making their debuts. One of which was Chuck Palumbo making his very first televised appearance in WCW, wrestling in a singles match. I think he won with the jungle kick, too. Anyway, Scott Hudson said something during the match along the lines of, "Just think, years from now, we'll be sitting around watching Chuck Palumbo wrestle and saying, 'remember when we saw him debut on WCW Saturday Night?" I laughed my ass off at that, because Palumbo looked like just another long haired jobbronie at the time. This was also when WCW was starting to decline, and it was obvious WCW was bringing in young guys to make up for the fact that a lot of their more talented wrestlers had left. Yet here we are now, and he's coming back to WWE. It's amazing how sometimes the relatively most mediocre wrestlers can somehow parlay themselves into having lengthy careers.

Well, George Steinbrenner must be pleased, at least.

    Race for 2008 Unofficially Begins

Holy quadruple post, Batman! You're right though, 2006 is going to be very important. I don't think the Republicans will lose their majority in Congress outright, but I think the Democrats could make significant gains.

    New school era

I would definitely say WM10, if by "new school" you mean moving out of the cartoonish '80s style era. WM10 has the distinction of being the first WM card not to have Hulk Hogan on it. It was also the start of the "New Generation" concept, IIRC.
  25. (scratching head at how someone came up with the Crusher being a jobber in WWF)
