By all accounts it's pretty much a done deal, and I'll be voting for him, I'm sure (and not just because he's from Wisconsin.)

I didn't say all Muslims are barbarians. Many have stepped into the 21st century. The people that perpetuate these killings haven't, however. They are stuck in a bygone age.
-
Well, we haven't heard how badly Jarrett is injured. He could be on the next Impact for all we know. Now, if it was Triple H...
-
Limbaugh is stupid, but he's right that they shouldn't have been over there. These barbarian Muslim terrorists don't care about peace, they care about killing and destroying the West. To simply say that they're misunderstood or have a different world view is idiocy.

Awesome...come on Vince, let's see a Freebirds vs Von Erichs DVD set.

I often wonder that, every year. I'm usually not genuinely excited about most of the card, but everyone on the internet acts all jacked up "because it's Wrestlemania." The main event might be ok, but they'll probably give us some type of rematch at the PPV next month. Seems like just another WWE pay-per-view to me. Frankly, the only match this year that I'd be really interested in seeing is Benoit vs JBL, because I think they could pull off a really interesting match.

That pic is photoshopped in half a dozen places. I figured it was photoshopped as well...well, more like _hoping_ it was photoshopped. Scary thing is, there are plenty of real life people not too far off from that, I'm sure.

Which makes for a good case of why the US shouldn't turn terrorists they capture over to the world court.

One guy I can think of, and not sure if he's been mentioned already is "Scrap Iron" Adam Pearce. I used to see him in the local indys here in Wisconsin (NAWF, etc). He got hyped a lot online by various "experts". I understand he's in ROH now...he has a great look, but is _extremely_ vanilla in the ring, at least from every match I've seen him in. Decent mic worker though, IIRC.

Like it or not, getting Goldberg would be huge for TNA. I've never been a huge Goldberg fan, but the guy can be decent in the ring, and he has the kind of presence that will make casual fans and marks immediately take notice. He's one of the few main event level guys still around from the old WCW days who probably isn't seen as being old and washed up by the casual fan, as well. I understand the concerns about his ego, but I would think that with the reduced schedule TNA offers, he should be pretty content. Honestly, what harm would it do TNA at this point if he comes in, squashes a few low card and mid level guys, and then beats Christian in a huge PPV main event match (well, the most huge they'd ever have been able to offer up to this point). Then, they can have Goldberg feud with a few guys like Jarrett and Monty, then finally lose the belt to someone like Sting or back to Christian. It would make money.

Heard Michael Savage talking about this tonight...From Fayetteville Online: "Police: Suspect considered UNC attack for two years: CHAPEL HILL (AP) — A University of North Carolina graduate accused of running down nine people on campus began thinking about the attack two years earlier to avenge mistreatment of fellow Muslims, investigators said in an affidavit. In interviews with police after he gave himself up following the attack Friday, Mohammed Reza Taheri-azar, a 22-year-old native of Iran, said he rented the Jeep Grand Cherokee he was driving because it had four-wheel drive and he could “run things over and keep going,” according to in an application for a warrant to search Taheri-azar’s home and vehicle. Affidavits supporting the application and a list of what the search collected were released Tuesday. No one was seriously hurt March 3 when a SUV plowed through a part of the UNC campus known as The Pit, scattering startled students. Moments later, Taheri-azar called 911 to surrender, and prosecutors later charged him with nine counts of attempted murder and assault. The FBI is investigating whether to also file federal charges against him, said Ken Lucas, an FBI spokesman in Charlotte. “The investigation aims to find out everything about him, his motives and thought process,” Lucas said. During the 911 call, Taheri-azar told an emergency dispatcher he wanted to “punish the government of the United States for their actions around the world,” according to a recording released by police. Authorities have said Taheri-azar later told investigators he intentionally hit people to “avenge the deaths of Muslims around the world.” AUDIO Mohammed Reza Taheri-azar's call to 911 Taheri-azar, who grew up in the Charlotte area, had thought about some sort of a vengeance attack for two years, but planned Friday’s assault for two months, the investigators stated. He told one detective that the saw his actions as “an eye for an eye.” “Taheri-azar repeatedly said that the United States Government had been killing his people across the sea and that he decided to attack,” the affidavit read. It was signed Detective Matthew Dodson, of the university’s police department, and Lt. Robert Carden, of the Chapel Hill Police Department. Investigators said Taheri-azar chose 11:45 a.m. Friday as the time for the attack because that’s when he expected the largest number of people to be congregating at The Pit. To get there, Taheri-azar had to jump a curb and weave past campus buildings. He told Dodson he was disappointed there weren’t more people in the area when the attack occurred, according to the affidavit. The affidavit said Taheri-azar was carrying two cans of pepper spray and a five-inch folding knife he intended to use if he was trapped or threatened during the attack. At his first court appearance Monday, Taheri-azar told the judge he planned to represent himself and was “thankful for the opportunity to spread the will of Allah.” He was assigned a public defender, but ignored the lawyer’s advice to stop talking and told the judge he would make his own decisions about what to say. He is being held in Raleigh in lieu of $5.5 million bond at the state’s only maximum security prison. District Attorney Jim Woodall said he was told by a person who was introduced as Taheri-azar’s sister that their mother is a U.S. government translator who works in Afghanistan. The district attorney said he didn’t know the mother’s name, but understands that she’s returning to North Carolina because of her son’s arrest. Lucas said the FBI has “no indication at this time that the mother is a federal government employee.” A 2001 yearbook from South Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte shows Taheri-azar smiling with short black hair combed over his forehead. Another photo shows the teen racing his Mitsubishi Eclipse at a Fayetteville drag strip. He was secretary of tutoring for Spanish his senior year and a member of the Sabres high school football team. In the ninth grade, he was student council president. His junior and senior years, Taheri-azar belonged to the National Honor Society and the Spanish National Honor Society. The search of Taheri-azar’s apartment found a white envelope containing a letter he told police would spell out his reasons for the attack. The letter’s contents were not described in the documents released Tuesday. Also confiscated in the search were a personal digital assistant, computer memory discs, a videocassette, two cell phones, two Navy SEAL training videotapes, and an application for a gun permit. "

I wasn't necessarily talking about "nationalists". Just Americans in general.
-
I think that is a good point, to an extent. I think at the same time, that most reasonable, even very conservative, Americans are fine with people legally immigrating from Mexico or any other part of the world. Most of us are sick of illegal immigration, though, and all the problems that come with it.

Makes you wonder if he's connected to anyone else.

They're going to have to start touring, as well, eventually, and doing their TV tapings outside of Orlando. WWF had the same problem when they used to always run RAW at the Manhattan Center. Yeah, it was neat, but it ended up people the same fans week after week, and they tended to be the "smart mark" crowd.

Part of the whole respect thing is being booked to look strong over a long period of time as well. You can do jobs, but not be booked to look weak. Take a look at someone like Matt Hardy. He's been in the WWE for almost 10 years but I don't think the fans really respect him because he's been made to look like a loser for the most part, at least as a singles wrestler.

People being surprised at how well the Milwaukee Brewers are doing. "Gee, that Prince Fielder can hit, and boy, those JJ Hardy and Rickie Weeks guys are sure talented...also, when did the Brewers get a starting rotation?"

I guess my point is, the US is not a social welfare nation. If they want to stay in the Houston area, fine, but don't expect constant hand outs and free or subsidized housing. Houston is a big city and I'm sure they can find jobs if they want to.

Thomas Haden Church cast as villain for Spider-Man
Dobbs 3K replied to EdwardKnoxII's topic in Television & Film
I think it would be hillarious if they brought in some relatively obscure villain to be a big part of the movie, like Shocker or Scorpion. -
Well, New Orleans is currently rebuilding, and rebuilding housing and other building using federal funding (something no other devastated American city has ever required before, by the way...). There is a lot of work to be done, and these people could be moving back to set up again. Otherwise, they'll have to find work elsewhere. They should have decided at this point what course of action they're going to take...move back to NO and help re-build, or start a new life elsewhere. It's not exactly an ambiguous decision.

I would call myself an anti-racist nationalist. The problems in this world aren't caused by race, at least in the US...they're caused by culture.

When I was in Germany last year there was a drink called "diesel" at many bars and restaurants, which is a mix of beer and cola (or another soda). Blech.

If you still don't have a job or haven't moved back nearly six months after this disaster, something's wrong.

See, but why can't Africa pull itself out now, almost fifty years after colonialism ended? They've gotten billions upon billions of dollars in aid, but they always squander it...so you can't say the West hasn't tried to help. You can't blame mother nature...there are other parts of the world where people live in equally hostile conditions but get by. It's just a matter of introducing and practicing extremely basic irrigation and farming techniques. Africa needs to unify to some extent, and pull itself up.
