Yes, but what does that prove? That either Bush is a liar or incredibly ill-advised, one way or the other. Is that shocking news to anyone at this point? Again, what is the point of discussing this anymore? It's like the arguments about the border, Iraq, and the hunt for Bin Laden. Nothing ever changes, but Congress doesn't step in and do anything either. We're losing our freedom and our country and no one is doing a damn thing about it.

Yeah, this happened last year during a showing of "March of the Penguins" somewhere. It was a young boy who was mentally handicapped, IIRC.
-
Yeah, exactly. Everything about Kerry's campaign was basically bungled from the get go, and they never bothere to fix anything.
-
Is this really news though? I mean, pretty much everyone acknowledges that Bush knew Katrina was going to be bad, but that the government wasn't as prepared as they thought they were for the disaster. I mean, unless Congress is going to call for impeachment proceedings, can't we move on now?

The kid who kills with wrestling moves fucked up again.
Dobbs 3K replied to Art Sandusky's topic in General Wrestling
Put him away for the full term. He's obviously a danger to society and there's no reason for him to get back on the street anytime soon. -
Yeah, I never heard about that one. Anyone have more details on what Lanza actually said about him?
-
I'm sure Bush is pretty isolated from the average American's opinion either way. Granted, you could probably argue that about any President, but with Bush it seems much more obvious.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ilan_Halimi So they call themselves, so they should be known as.
-
And yet they probably wonder why Bush's approval ratings hover around 34% currently.

I think the guy in the original post's opinion is colored by the fact that he lives in an area without a nearby MLB team. Yeah, if there's not a local baseball team, chances are, the people on local radio won't be talking about it...well, duh.

Well, I think the failure was due more to WWE's crappy booking than anything. I also think not having the entire 8 man tournament in one night devalued it a lot.
-
Frankly, I don't know why they don't still have it. I mean, there are plenty of PPVs in one year...you'd think the KotR would be an easy way to cover one PPV.
-
I understand they're trying to save lives, and that's a good thing...but if WWE implements these policies without doing anything else to make it so that wrestlers don't practically NEED to turn drugs (like lightening the travel schedule or pushing smaller guys), it's completely hypocritical.

Well, Lesnar fits the description of "one of the biggest stars in the world", but wouldn't make sense being in the X Cup. Maybe it's Jushin Liger?

So here we go -- Who are your favourites? 1)Ravishing Rick Rude vs Mr. Perfect Perfect...Rude annoyed me, and Hennig was a far better in ring worker. Most of Rude's matches, at least in WWF, consisted of a lot of punching, headlocks, and Rude's ass being exposed for 50% of the match. 2)Arn Anderson vs Bobby Eaton Two of the best tag team wrestlers of the '80s and early '90s...I woudl take Bobby Eaton...the Midnight Express are one of my favorite teams of all time, though I found the Anderson/Eaton DA combo to be underrated. Eaton was a little more flashy in the ring, while I found Arn to be believable but extremely basic. 3)Hulk Hogan vs Ultimate Warrior Hogan by a HUGE mile...when these two were going into WM6, I could not stand Warrior's promos. The whole "rambling speech while staring at the hands" thing always perplexed me, even as a kid. 4)Dusty Rhodes vs Sting Sting...who the hell's going to pick Dusty Rhodes? 5)Shawn Michaels vs Marty Jannetty Tough choice...these guys were basically interchangable as the Rockers, but I've always been a Marty mark, for some reason. So I would pick him over Shawn. 6)Rip Rogers vs Haku aka Meng Haku...I don't think I've seen Rogers wrestle in more than two matches, ever, and he didn't leave any kind of impression on me. 7)Macho Man vs Ricky Steamboat Steamboat...just liked his in ring style a little more. Savage pissed me off towards the end in WCW, when his matches were absolutely horrible, he had a lame feud with Kevin Nash, and he'd injure people with his elbow drop that he couldn't do properly anymore. 8)Honkey Tonk Man vs Jerry Lawler Oh gosh...Jerry Lawler by far...much more entertaining in the ring, and a better interview. 9)Midnight Express vs Kawada/Taue Midnight Express...as long as it's the Lane/Eaton combo. 10)Benoit vs Dynamite Kid Benoit...Dynamite was awesome, but Benoit I think is the better overall worker, although Dynamite was probably a bit better as a high-flyer type. 11)Johnny Smith vs Marc Rocco aka Black Tiger #1 I've barely seen any Black Tiger footage, so I'll have to default to Johnny Smith. 12)Makahn Singh vs Earthquake Ditto with Singh, so I'll have to pick Earthquake. 13)Brian Pillman vs 2 Cold Scorpio Scorpio can do high flying, but Pillman was the overall better worker, in his prime. And who can deny Pillman based on his "Loose Cannon" gimmick? 14)Mayumi Ozaki vs Akira Hokuto Don't care...Hokuto 'cause I've actually heard of her, I guess. 15)Atlantis vs Blue Panther Haven't seen a huge difference in their styles, but I'll go with Atlantis. 16)Edge vs Randy Orton Hmmm...this is tough. I like Edge, but I think Randy Orton will develop into a better, more rounded worker in the long run, so I'll pick him over the more one-dimensional Edge. 17)Andre the Giant vs the Big Show Andre, at least in his prime, was a better worker, and I think was more captivating in the ring. Big Show seems to default to the generic WWE heavyweight style all to often, forgetting that he's supposed to be a GIANT, and wrestle like one. 18)Eddy Guerrero vs Misawa Misawa is probably my favorite Japanese wrestler of all time, so as much as I liked Eddy, I have to go with Mitsuharu Misawa. I enjoy the elbow shot variations and the tiger drivers. 19)Tiger Mask vs RVD RVD...Tiger Mask was a great worker, but RVD is overall more entertaining, IMO. 20)Volk Han vs Mariko Yoshida Um...no idea. Volk Han because I've heard of him. 21)Barry Whindam vs Terry Funk Hmmm...tough choice for me. I believe at one time Windham was one of the best workers in North America, but if this is classic Terry Funk and not "hardcore legend" Funk, I have to take him. His work with guys like Flair, and his team with Dory outshines anything Windham ever did. 22)Kurt Angle vs Dean Malenko Well, I think Malenko was one of the best technical wrestlers of the last fifteen years, at least, but I think Angle is the better overall wrestler, so I'd have to take Angle. 23)Rey Mysterio Jr. vs The Cobra Rey...I haven't seen much Cobra footage. 24)Bret Hart vs The Rock Bret Hart...better in ring, for a longer period. The problem with Rock is that after he really hit his stride, he was only around for a year or two before leaving for Hollywood. Though if this were based on mic work alone, Rock would win by a mile. 25)Brock Lesnar vs Kenta Kobashi Lesnar....one of the best big men of the last five years, and I'm a mark for his style in the ring. Kobashi is awesome, but Lesnar is one of my faves. 26)Low Ki vs American Dragon Low Ki...seems a little more solid to me. 27)Scott Steiner vs JBL JBL...early Scott Steiner was awesome, but he loses points because of his extremely annoying persona in WCW post '98. His crappy feud against Triple H in WWE doesn't do him any favors, either. JBL is a better worker than recent Steiner, like it or not. 28)Dynamite Kansai vs Jaguar Yokota Not familiar with eithe rof them, but I like Dynamite Kansai's name. 29)Jun Akyima vs KENTA Akiyama...is KENTA really that good? He seems somewhat generic to me. Akiyama at least has the exploder and cool knee moves. 30)Rip Rogers vs Tim Horner Rogers gets listed again? I would still go with Tim Horner...although he seems to me to be the prototypical southern babyface JTTS.

Would anyone bother putting Nash in the ring at this point? His last three or so runs in either TNA or WWF/WWE have all been aborted due to injuries. I agree with the comments about Nash as an announcer...he's funny, but doesn't know how to put over the product. I could see him being entertaining on one of those wrestling DVDs filled with joke matches or old wrestling that doesn't hold up today. I could _maybe_ see him being a manager, but it's going to look odd having a guy who's almost seven feet tall (at least in kayfabe measurements) managing someone he towers over.

WrestleMania matches that never happened
Dobbs 3K replied to Naked Snake's topic in General Wrestling
Vince McMahon vs Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania: BECAUSE YOU DEMANDED IT!!! (at least in Vince's mind) -
The Powers of Pain were gone from the WWF in early 1992. I think in Warlord's case it definately had something to do with the steroid testing. Barbarian showed up in WCW that spring and was one-half of the last US Tag Team Champions alongside Greg Valentine. He then had a brief main event push against Ron Simmons that fall and was pushed down the roster late 92/early 93 and left again. A few years later, Barbarian & Warlord showed up on the 1/1/96 Nitro as the masked "Super Assassins", managed by Col. Parker, and were squashed by Sting & Luger. After that Barbarian teamed up with Meng once more (Barbarian/Haku - what do you mean they weren't HUGE in the WWF?) and they formed the "Faces of Fear" Which I kinda dug as a team at least initially Well, Faces of Fear were a team in WCW, not WWF, but everything else is basically right. IIRC, Barbarian also came back to WWF in like '93 or '94 as "Sionne" and teamed with Fatu as the Headshrinkers (after Samu left for some reason). Haku and Barbarian were also briefly a team in WWF in the early '90s, managed by Bobby Heenan (after Fuji had broken up the Powers of Pain by selling their contracts).

They push it through coax, but you have to at least connect your TV to the cable box via a component video cable to view HD, at least that's my understanding. NoCal, the sat company demanding 300 bucks for you to "upgrade" the equipment you don't even own is ludicrous. You should call back and threaten to switch to cable, and see if they'll consider cutting you a better deal.

Suncoast/Sam Goody going out of business!
Dobbs 3K replied to Anakin Flair's topic in Television & Film
Yeah, the mall in Janesville, WI had both the Suncoast and Sam Goody having g-o-b sales when my wife and I went there this past Saturday. Like someone else pointed out, the discounts were basically a joke...a DVD released in the past year or so would be marked at 29.99, and you could get 30% off We saved our money, since if we had seen anything we wanted, we probably could've just gone down to Best Buy or even Exclusive Company and still gotten it cheaper...the only real deals to be had seemed to be with action figures and other "collectibles" that I wasn't really interested in. What's going to be more interesting to me is seeing what that mall finds to fill the two huge gaps they'll have after those two stores finally shut down, since this isn't a huge mall to begin with... -
I knew Darsow would come up. With guys like Sting, Hogan, and Backlund...those are all good points, but they were all basically still the same character. Hollywood Hogan was still Hulk Hogan, Sting was still Sting, etc. You can't say Demolition Ax was still Masked Superstar, as they were completely different characters and it was never acknowledged that they were the same guy. I think Foley would be the only one named so far that fits that mold, since Cactus Jack and ManKind at least were completely different characters, and both were pretty successful. Another I was thinking of was Haku/Meng. Basically the same character though, just with a different name.

Good point, Karc. It is hypocritical for WWE to work their guys like they have been with all the traveling, and expect them to not use any drugs at all, even basica pain killers without a prescription or something. I'm not advocating drug use, but being on the road that much has to do no good for the body at any rate.

Frankly I enjoyed the segment. Triple H calling out Cena for his faults is at least acknowledging that the crowd hasn't been behind him. It also made me look forward to their 'Mania match a lot more than I was before.

Yeah, plasmas aren't as bad as people think. Part of the problem is that when they first came out, people were very uneducated about them...you had salespeople in electronics stores spouting myths about them needing to "have the gas inside recharged" and stupid stuff like that. I know the burn in problem has been greatly reduced...basically the only thing you have to fear is having a static image on screen for long periods of time (I mean several hours at least). This is a problem with basically all TVs, it's just that plasmas are more prone to it.

Had a thought from reading a thread in the WWE forum, and thought it could be a fun discussion: Bill Eadie had two separate, very successful careers in wrestling. He wrestled as the Masked Superstar and was very successful in the territory days, feuding with guys like Flair, Backlund, Andre the Giant, etc. He won several NWA titles, including the Georgia Heavyweight Title. Then, he went to the WWF and became Demolition Ax, one half of the most successful '80s tag teams, and was a tag team champion there. Heck, you could even make the point that Eadie had success in his early days as one of the Mongols (Bolo). My question is, what other wrestlers can you think of that had two or more separate, successful personas or characters? And I don't mean they were just on TV, they had to have made a significant impact. I'm not including guys that underwent simple name changes but kept the same gimmick (eg. Team 3D/Dudley Boyz).
