Was I the only one that thought it was going to be a draw when there was blood all over both Cena and Angle? I mean, how could the ref honestly tell who wasn't bleeding there at that point (when Cena had Angle in the STF?)

Living in Wisconsin, and a Packer fan, I feel this was the right move. I don't blame Sherman for this terrible season, but I think there were some games that should have been won, but weren't, partly due to bad decisions and bad play calling on the field. Still, Sherman leaves with a solid win-loss record and three division championships, but no Super Bowl appearances. The Packers need to move towards life after Brett Favre (regardless if that is this coming season or one or two after), and need a new direction. It's the right time for a new head coach.

This post might contain some spoilers if you haven't seen the movie yet: I saw King Kong last night and thought it was a really great movie. I thought the pace was fine. This was probably the quickets three hour movie I've ever seen honestly. I thought the pacing was pretty good, although I agree things got a little hectic with all the dino scenes on Skull Island (but that was kind of the whole point of that part of the movie). I thought the appearance of the natives was kind of interesting. In the original, the natives have basically a Polynesian appearance, where as here they are much more primitive, which makes sense if we're supposed to buy that this is some "lost civilization." BTW, if anybody missed it, the "native" actors in the scene with Kong at the theater in New York are made to look like the Skull Island natives in the original King Kong. The only part that really bugged me was the scene with the three T-Rexs...the fight scene was cool, but then they all get tangled in the vines, and the T Rex is still trying to eat Ann Darrow? I know they're cold blooded, but you'd think they'd be more concerned with escpaing the vines at that point... The effects were really awesome overall. If I didn't know better, there were times I would've sworn Kong was a real ape.

I just remember seeing him as Big Daddy Dink and thinking "WTF is this?"

OMG actually had a pretty decent run in WCW in 1995 and 1996 (surprisingly). I don't know if it was because he was a buddy of Hogan's or something, but he was actually pushed pretty heavily. IIRC, he was the last guy in the ring with Randy Savage when Savage won the WW3 battle royal for the World Title. Someone else brought up his US Title win, which was still a belt that meant something at the time. He did lose it with little fanfare, though. He jobbed to Konnan on a B-show like (I think it was WCW Pro), and the announcers were like "hey, how about that, a new US Champion," barely making a big deal about it at all.

WXO and the AWF would have to be up there as well.

I'm looking forward to seeing Munich. Maybe it will make some people think a little differently about the Middle East and Israel (in a good way, I hope).

See, that goes back to what I posted in another thread. America needs to go back to a time when men were men and women were glad for it.

I used to know a girl like that, who'd quote movies all the time. It got old. I'd usually just respond with "yeah, yeah, I remember it..." and change the subject.

It was a little different for me because I went to a private Lutheran preparatory school, which was quite different from a normal high school. There weren't any suicides there, at least while I was in school. I think I only remember hearing about one or two girls getting pregnant all four years I was there. Anyway, looking as an outsider, I think a big problem is that American society puts out this idea that high school is basically the most important thing that will happen to you in your entire life. Like, if you get bad grades or struggle with your studies, you'll never possibly amount to anything. Or, if you don't get a hot date to the prom you'll end up a lonely loser the rest of your life. High school sports are built up as the most important thing in a lot of towns. It puts a lot of pressure on kids, and some of them simply can't take it. Maybe their parents ignore warning signs and stuff, unfortunately. Kids tend to forget that this is just one phase of their entire life, and that there actually is life after graduation.

From what I understand, Sgt. Pepper was one of the first true "albums" that wasn't just a bunch of singles and extra songs thrown together. It was a thought out, complete recording. I've never cared much for Beatles stuff from that time, but it is more of a landmark record than anything, I suppose.

I think I remember that tag match. Weird seeing Hogan and Piper team up. Piper vs Bad News Brown at WM6 was a pretty awful match, from what I remember. I don't know what drugs Piper was on, painting his body half black.

Jenna Jameson only appeared on one or two shows, in ECW, IIRC. It wasn't like she was going to be a regular performer for ECW or anything. She also appeared with Val Venis in one promo video. Furnas and Lafon (Dan Kroffat) were both awesome wrestlers...I really wish they had lasted longer in WWF. They had a very good TV match again Owen and Bulldog, if I remember right. I liked their gimmick where they were nicknamed "The World's Most Exciting Tag Team" or something and would come out to a very bland entrance and show no personality. If they had broken into the WWF five to ten years earlier, they probably would've been huge stars in the US, but they came in right as "Attitude" was starting to take shape and "regular" wrestlers were becoming passe.

The original post sounds like some "smark" without a life trying to start crap. The whole story sounds pretty one sided. Professional athletes put up with a lot of idiots on a daily basis. I don't blame Orton for staying in character and mouthing back. The security guard was probably a little out of line, but he probably gets sick of seeing morons trying to start fights outside of shows every time WWE rolls into town, and then running to their keyboard to tell the world about how cowardly or unprofessional the wrestlers are.

World Martial Arts Federation? (TitanSports, 1994)

I remember Kama's promos. They showed him boxing body bags and riding a motorcycle, and he talked about his fighting background, IIRC. -
I think that would be "Shannon Moore wearing Rey Misterio's mask".

How about Techno Team 2000 in WWF '96? Blinked and you missed them. Speaking of Harvey Wippleman, did he ever manage anyone halfway decent? It seems like he was always stuck with lame gimmicky heels that lasted for two months before disappearing.

Rise and Fall of the World Bodybuilding Federation

I agree with most of the things people said above about the XFL. I do think some blame lies on Vince McMahon's shoulders. He should've distanced it from WWF, and presented it as it's own separate league. Having Steve Austin and the Rock appear at games on the first week, and having Jerry Lawler and Jim Ross call games didn't really help things, either. If the league was to be given credibility, it should've been distanced from WWF as much as possible. -
1996 WWF is very underrated. I think I like 1996 and 1997 WWF better than '98-'99. I was at the Milwaukee matinee show on 12-26-97. First wrestling show I ever got to attend. It was a fun time. That was when Rock was starting to really get into his heel schtick.

I'm pretty sure that was Jimmy Del Ray Ah, yeah, I think you're right. I'd completely forgotten who he actually was. I just remember his idiotic costume.
-
Just thought of another guy...Jimmy Graffiti in WCW. I think this was around '95 or early '96. They brought him out on WCW Saturday Night and it seemed like they were going to give him a big face push. Never saw him again.

Yeesh, they look like a Demolition rip-off now. Yes, which is awesome.

Randy "The Forbidden Remote Linker" Orton?

How about Shane Douglas' run in WWF circa 1992? That was pretty quick. His run as Dean Douglas was pretty weird and short as well. Another one could be Steve Williams in 1998 WWF. The only thing memorable about it was him losing to Bart Gunn in the Brawl for All tournament.

Man, surprising Owen didn't stick around in WCW longer, since they seemed like they were putting him over. That six man tag sounds interesting in a weird way.
