I hope not...and hasn't Vince said that he isn't going to do any more matches? I mean, he just turned 60...granted, it's hard to take anything Vince says without a grain of salt, but still, I can't see him wanting to take too many more bumps at this point.

They factor in accomplishments within the year, so Batista and Cena make sense as 1 and 2. Remember the year Dean Malenko won? Man, that was weird.

That would actually be a pretty good idea, having longer clips each week. It wouldn't hurt if they showed other clips highlighting one or two of their stars each commercial, either. I'm sure there are plenty of WWE viewers who are wondering where guys like Nash, Waltman, Jarrett, etc. are these days, and would tune in to see what they're doing....and no, I'm not saying TNA should build around those guys, but they should use them to build some interest.

Weird seeing Sting with gray hair. Valentine looks like he's still in relatively good shape. Nikita looks like he's actually lost some weight since his hayday.

I'm surprised Flair vs Von Erich finished that high...other than Texas wrestling fans, I don't think that match affected too much of the country otherwise, since Von Erich only had the belt for a couple weeks.

No, that doesn't sound 1989-ish at all. It should be called "AWA Primetime Championship Wrestling" or something fairly generic like that.
-
"There is talk of Hogan working a wrestler vs. boxer match against George Foreman in Japan" Scary to say, but that probably would've been a HUGE money match at that point.

Well, if USA is already running spots for RAW (which they are), then turn about is fair play.
-
Now _that_ would have been contrived...I liked how they did it. It seemed more real (well, as real as a fall of a stage in wrestling can...)
-
That wouldn't be a bad little feud right there, I don't think.

Bring back Verne and have him turn on Greg. That'd draw money....j/k

Albert was a decent worker. I think the problem was that they were always trying to come up with some kind of comedy angle for him, rather than booking him as a bad ass that would just beat the crap out of people. The closest they probably got to making him click was when he was "A-Train."

WCW facts, tidbits, and stuff people forgot
Dobbs 3K replied to JoeDirt's topic in General Wrestling
Yep...he was DQed for putting him through a table, IIRC. -
Well, TNA's site doesn't mention Jericho at all...

I don't find Maria that hot...she looks like the kind of chick that looks good for now, but will probably be overweight and married to some loser living in a crappy apartment in five to ten years. Plus I can't find idiot bitches attractive.

Why was he bitter during that match, might I ask?

My personal favorite was at a house show in 1998 or early 1999, don't remember exactly when, but it was in Milwaukee...before a match involving himself, Austin, Kane, and Foley (either a tag or fatal four way, not sure of which), he was doing his promo and the crowd was repeating everything he said, and Rock says "Hey! This isn't sing along with the Rock time!" and the crowd just died laughing. I'm pretty sure he used the same line on TV the following week. As an aside...does anyone else think it was really stupid for WWE to push Rock into movies? Now the guy is gone from WWE...he could still be around as a draw, feuding with guys like Batista and Cena, and WWE could still be hot.

Brewers beat the Marlins last night in an impressive win, 11-2 at Miller Park. The youth movement is in full effect right now for the Brewers...their three rookies in Rickie Weeks, JJ Hardy, and Corey Hart all looked great, along with Bill Hall playing very nicely at 3B. Just wait 'til next year when Prince Fielder is playing every day... Chris Capuano got his 14th win last night...the first Brewer to reach that mark since Cal Eldred in 1993, amazingly enough. I'm not going to sit here and make predictions about obtaining the Wildcard spot this year, but .500 is looking very achievable at this point for the Brew Crew.

I'm glad some people agree his gimmick would need to be changed, even if just slightly. If they just do a "Y2J is back in the WWE!" after two months type deal, and he just comes back out as the same old Jericho cutting the same old Y2J promos, the fans will just assume he's going to be not winning any big matches like usual. If he comes back with a new gimmick, the fans will take notice.

It wouldn't surprise me if they signed him to their "Legends" deal. A Randy Savage DVD would sell like hot cakes. An action figure would sell pretty well, I'd bet, too.

Jericho has been so ruined by bad booking for the last four years that him winning a World title again at this point would be basically unbelievable, and wouldn't get over with the crowd. If he is going to come back, I think he needs to come back as a completely different character. Don't get me wrong, he'll still be "Chris Jericho", but not "Y2J" anymore. He can't be a comedic wrestler. No more silly catch phrases like "Ayatollah of Rock & Rolla", etc, whether he's face or heel. No more hosting the "High Light Reel," either. All that stuff makes him come off like he doesn't care about wrestling, and losing doesn't bother him. We can't have that anymore if Jericho is going to come back. I would have him come to Smackdown as an "evil mastermind" type heel. Have him head up a stable with a tag team and maybe one other wrestler. Have him beat opponent after opponent, and give him a new finisher. The "Walls of Jericho" never beats anyone, and the Lionsault is a joke. He should have new theme music and new tights as well. Have him cut serious promos, and have him cheat to win. Don't job him much at all, at least not on TV. Basically just completely overall Chris Jericho to move him into the "veteran main eventer" spot that he should have been at about three years ago.

I'm going to U2 in Milwaukee in September...hopefully it's good. I've never seen them before live, but when I was in high school they were my favorite band, and I have all their albums, so I think it will be a fun show.

This Cade/Murdoch team looks intriguing to me. Hopefully they don't do as badly as the Heartthrobs have thus far...a Southern-style heel tag team could be a nice breath of fresh air on RAW. Probably a stupid question, but is Trevor Murdoch related to Dick Murdoch in any way? They look similar, so I could see why they went with that name, even if he is no relation.

From the Wrestling Observer website: --The talk backstage last night is that tonight's Raw would be Chris Jericho's farewell for now. We don't have that confirmed as 100% Hmm...can't say it's that unexpected, but still kind of weird to think about. Discuss.

Brody looks like a must have, and I don't even have any wrestling figures right now. Btw, kind of weird to see a WWE Legends Bruiser Brody figure...did he EVER compete in a WWF match?
