Personally, I'm doubting we'll see Bret on TV in anything more than a short interview segment to hype the DVD. It's not like he's going to be getting in the ring or managing someone, etc.

I think there's enough good stuff on there that a lot of people will want, so they will be getting this. This will probably be a very hot selling DVD, I imagine. I think the cover is really cool. As far as TV matches being left off...I frankly can't think of any really great Undertaker TV matches. Maybe an early squash or two would've been good, to show what he was like when he first came to WWF, but other than that, I can't think of any big, glaring omissions. I'm glad they didn't cram it full of stuff from the last two years.

While it's true that this country has a history of white terrorism (you mentioned the KKK, and of course there is the Oklahoma City bombing), pretty much all recent examples of airline or mass transit terrorism have been perpetrated by young Arab Muslim men. Therefore, it makes sense to check someone like that at an airport.

Another one: This is going back a ways, but one of the regional announcers in the '80s, I can't remember his name, but he called the action for World Class, I believe, and always called a sleeper hold a "sleep hold." Actually, their announcer was pretty crappy in general, IIRC. JR's "This is going to be a physical match-up!" is probably the worst though. That, or calling it a "smash mouth match", is pretty bad as well. Gawd, remember when he'd say "this is a smash mouth, XFL-style match!" even before the XFL had aired it's first game??? That was SO annoying, because he was just CONSTANTLY shilling a football league on a wrestling show...

I don't know...I think I'm the opposite. I wish the announcers would, you know, actually call the moves during a match. Granted, not every move needs to be called, but I used to hate how Michael Cole would call everything a "hard shot" or "big impact move", and only call the finisher. Yeah, Michael, you didn't bother to name one single move but then it's "Tombstone! by the Undertaker...and this will do it!..."

That's why I loved watching WCW Saturday Night, even in the late '90s when no stars were on it...because it would just be a couple guys wrestling to wrestle, not because one guy was jealous of the other's girlfriend or one wanted to be in a movie the other was in, or something stupid like that.

The whole "wrestling is cyclical" argument is total BS. I recall Scott Keith summarizing it pretty well (and I know he's basically persona non grata around here), but he said something like: "No one has ever tried to chart or explain the cycle of the wrestling business. It's just an excuse for bad writing and booking." I think that is accurate. WWE could start a new "boom cycle" if they wanted to try breaking out of their current booking habits and try to get a hot angle started.

When I heard that she was going to have a "mole" on her face, I was picturing a slightly exagerrated Cindy Crawford type thing, not a gigantic alien face-sucker thing. I think I'd rather review the close ups of Rikishi's ass from WWF in 1998, rather than see more of those close ups from last night. Seriously, do they think close ups of something that gross is going to get more ratings? I think WWE is getting close to the masturbatory booking of Vince Russo in WCW, where they just put stupid shit on TV to get a laugh for themselves, not caring what the audience thinks.

Man, I remember hating Stan Lane as an announcer a lot in WWF...that was a crappy time for WWF anyway, and I had no idea at the time that Lane had previously been an awesome tag team wrestler. He came off as this huge Lex Luger mark who seemed like he wanted to have gay sex with "the Rebel" Lex Luger, as he'd call him.

I remember in the old WWF No Mercy game on N64, for the three frames of animation for T&A's Titantron video, Trish Stratus dominated three of them. That sent a message right there, pretty much. You're right...WWE always makes the valet/manager the focal point, and ends up forgetting about the team, then breaking up or firing them when they "fail to get over". What a bunch of fucking bullshit. Dammit Vince, quit fucking things up or hire someone to do a better job with the booking, you asshole.

That's true...they are quite different. I think I could live with either of them over someone extremist like Cheney or Hillary though. Those are two very different politicians. The only thing they really have in common is the campaign finance reform bill. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I saw Mind of Mencia last night, and wasn't that impressed. I wish they'd push the real skit based shows more, like Reno 911.

The problem with Russo is he could come up with exciting or "shocking" moments, but couldn't write storylines for crap. Unfortunately, I haven't seen anything from these "Hollywood writers" currently populating WWE to put any confidence in them. I think I would choose neither and sit at home watching tapes of how it used to be, when wrestling was actually good.

Probably the epitomy of a great technical wrestler...I remember pretty much all of his career from the time of the original Hart Foundation (I marked when they won the tag titles) to his final appearances in WCW. Bret Hart epitomized what a wrestling champion should be like. Unfortunately, I also think he let his character get to him, and that ultimately led to his downfall in WWF. Then he was horribly misused in WCW. Fortunately, the good of his career outweighs the bad substantially.

I enjoyed the main event, mostly, but the finish was exactly the same as the one from a few months ago, with Randy Orton hitting the RKO on Undertaker. Other than that, kind of a blah Smackdown...very little good wrestling, other than the opening tag team match (Benoit/Booker vs Jordan/Christian). I'm interested to see where they go with Christian seemingly turning on Jordan, though.

I wish either John McCain or Russ Feingold would run. I'd vote for either.
