The crowd sucked for the most part. Those boring chants during Edge vs Jericho were inexcusable.

WCW facts, tidbits, and stuff people forgot
Dobbs 3K replied to JoeDirt's topic in General Wrestling
I agree. If only WWF had picked up all those guys right away, rather than cherry picking a few. Just imagine if WWF had taken the WCW Cruiserweight divison and actually given those guys personalities, and pushed them seriously. It would have been great. -
Are there any "newsboardz" around anymore?

I remember this one...I can't remember the name of it or the guy who ran it, but it was this big fat black guy, and he had this hillarious picture of himself wearing a jacket and like, spreading his arms out and laughing or something. It was really weird. I remember one time he put up a picture of Chris Benoit along with Brookly Brawler and Barry Horowitz and it was captioned with "the best jobbers in wrestling...it's true", or something. OK, it seemed funny at the time. -
And what's wrong with being a White Anglo-Saxon Protestant anyway? I agree with you about "black leaders." I don't think they're really in touch with most blacks in this country anyway. I also have to wonder what role blacks in America will play in the next few years, now that Hispanics are the largest minority in the country. You have to wonder if blacks will become more marginalized, or if they will somehow be "absorbed" into other ethnicities/cultures. I wish our country was beyond the point where we had to split people into different racial groups with things like this proposed march, though.
-
Um...and what would the point of any such march be? This isn't the 1960s...geez, get over it already.

I don't remember this one at all. What happened? Boy, I really don't remember much of anything Raven did in WWE...I remember him briefly teaming with Tazz, and then that stupid ninja angle with Torrie (not Wilson), but that is about it.

Chris Kanyon, one of the most completely wasted performers of all time in any promotion, never allowed to live up to his potential.

The RAW Thread for 05-02-05: Show Comments
Dobbs 3K replied to UseTheSledgehammerUh's topic in The WWE Folder
Well, tournaments can be good. I agree they are definitely better than battle royales, which have also been done to death in the last year or so. But a tourney is only as good as how it is booked. If, like everyone is saying, HHH ends up winning anyway, then it is rather pointless. But if someone unexpected like Christian or Jericho were to win, then it could be a good way of presenting a new challenger and getting them over. -
I still like most of the Simpsons episodes. I think it's still one of the funniest shows on TV, consistently. I don't mind the characters changing a little...I mean, after 15 seasons they need to do _something_, right? I thought the two new episodes on last night were pretty funny, especially Bart getting overweight (which, I know, they already kind of did with Homer). But the opening montage parody with him collapsing the car roof had me busting a gut. Ray Romano guest starring *as a character* was pretty good too. Most of what annoys me these days with the Simpsons is whenever they do one of two things: 1) A guest star makes an appearance as themselves. For a while it seemed like every episode had some celeb or another making an appearance and being the focal point of the show. 2) When the show blatantly makes fun of itself (pointing out the show's own decline in creativity, etc). I know there have been a few recent examples, but the episode with Furious D, the punkish race horse, is probably the most glaring in the whole series (eg. Comic Book Guy yelling at the Simpsons about how he's watching them, or something).

Are there any "newsboardz" around anymore?
Dobbs 3K replied to UZI Suicide's topic in General Wrestling
Hey, while we're on the subject of newsboards, how about wrestling newsletters via e-mail? When I first got online in early '96 and started checking out wrestling websites (and there weren't a ton at the time), it seemed like everyone had some kind of newsletter. I used to subscribe to two or three (they were almost always free), and they were usually filled with lots of BS rumors along with news, maybe a couple articles (which were quite often awful), and sometimes a Q&A type section. I even had my own I wrote for a while, mainly for fun, that lasted for like a month before I realized how much work it could be to write all that info. Are there still things like this anymore? -

Huh? -
Who should it be? Christian or Jericho jumping from RAW and winning the belt from Cena after a nice feud would be good. But more likely it will probably be Undertaker after another heel turn Maybe Kurt Angle if we're lucky.

If the players' union nixes it, they'll look like assholes who are endorsing criminal activity, and with all the heat on MLB, I think they may have to approve it.

I really wouldn't bother buying a non-digital TV at this point...the conversion from analog to digital is _supposed_ to happen in the next two years. We will see for sure, but I think you can get a lot of enjoyment out of an HDTV _now_ anyway. Video games look awesome on an HD set (especially if you have an X-Box), and there is at least some HD content out there for everyone (over the air antenna, anybody?). I have had a Mitsubishi 48" HD-ready rear projection set for the past year and a half and love it, personally. DVDs look phenomenal on it.

Um, HOLY FUCK. I had no clue about this. I remember hearing that story from a friend when I was in high school and always figured it was some BS. I guess that confirms it though.

I think it could be a good move. WWF had a show on WGN Saturday mornings in the mid '90s (I think it was called "Blast Off"), and that did horribly, but I think that is because WGN didn't advertise it at all (besides the fact that it was a crappy recap show, which WWF already had two or three of by that point). If WGN promotes it a lot, and TNA can get the word out, I think the show could end up doing well. As far as being on Monday night...what does TNA really have to lose at this point? Their ratings probably can't get much lower than what they currently get on FSN. I think it could create some genuine interest and excitement, being on the same night as RAW. If anything, it might be nice to have an option to switch to during boring interview segments and crappy matches from WWE's show. I'm not even a big TNA fan at all (I can't stand Jeff Jarrett), but anything to create some extra competition for WWE at this point is a great thing, IMO.

JR just had it confused with that modified sharpshooter-type move that Edge has been using as a finisher (not sure if they've even given it a name yet), and I think that was understandable because Edge didn't even have the sharpshooter properly locked onto Venis, as far as I could tell.

Seems like a pretty harsh penalty...I mean, unless I misunderstood, it sounds like there wasn't any actual fighting or contact after the match between the two of them? On one hand, I think it's good that the governing board penalized both schools so things like this don't happen again. On the other, I don't see why they have to fine both schools over it. It sucks the one team won't be able to get new uniforms because of it.

It looks like the shirt doesn't match the helmet and pants. Why didn't they at least do the numbers in blue on the jersey?

Most of the wrestling books I've read have been pretty good. Goldberg's was horrible, however. The first half of the book is actually decent, where he is talking about getting into the business (although he doesn't actually talk about much most fans didn't already know), but the second half feels like it's just completely padded out, mostly talking about all the celebrities he's met and what a big star he is. It comes off like he is just a big egomaniac. But what do you expect when the guy had only been in the biz for, like, three years up to that point?
-
Oh man...that freak that used to babble on and on about that prime stuff pissed me off so much. I'm pretty sure he got banned though. Like someone mentioned earlier, age is not as important in wrestling as in other sports. I mean, look at Hulk Hogan...he is over 50 and still looks great. Granted, he can't work for crap, but people still pop whenever he is even just mentioned. Batista hasn't been wrestling that long...he looks great, and he can work (granted, he's no Kurt Angle or Chris Benoit, but so what?)

Five Year Old girl punched her teacher
Dobbs 3K replied to Your Paragon of Virtue's topic in Current Events
What the FUCK was the school supposed to do? If you try to restrain or discipline a child these days, you get sued. Calling the police was the SMART thing to do in my opinion. And how is it wrong to handcuff anyone? The police were doing their job. People need to quit being so idiotically sensitive in this country. The kid was out of control and the cops at least did something about it. The teacher tried to reason with the kid, and she wouldn't behave. So she deserved to get handcuff. Oh, and the lawyer is a moron if he thinks handcuffing a kid is excessive. And like someone else said, if I had ever acted like that in grade school, I would've gotten the spanking of a lifetime. -
Which should be on Smackdown anyway since that show could use them, and more then two dozen or so people would actually see them.
-
Heat and Velocity are a waste. They should just cancel both shows since they both suck and never have anything worthwhile or meaningful.
