Yeah, I hate the current IC belt. The old version from the late '80s/early-mid '90s was much more prestigous looking, IMO. I also liked the WCW World Tag Team belts they had from about 1998 onward...I thought those looked cool.

Eddie Gilbert and Kerry Von Erich
Dobbs 3K replied to Hunter's Torn Quad's topic in General Wrestling
True on both counts...I have the match where Von Erich wins the IC title from Mr. Perfect, and he uses the claw as a setup for the Tornado Punch. It was actually kind of a decent combo. And yes, he did use the discus punch in WCCW. Personally I liked Kerry, though I never saw him until he came to WWF as Texas Tornado. I thought he was kind of cool though, and didn't understand why WWF didn't do more with him after he lost the IC belt. Of course, years later I figured out what happened. I _never_ saw Eddie Gilbert wrestle when he was alive. In fact, when I first got on the 'net back in early '96 I remember reading about him and having no clue who he was. I've seen him on a few tapes of old NWA stuff, but that's about it. -
So, this game comes out March 8? Anyone planning on picking it up right away? Personally, I'm going to wait until there are a few reviews out, to see if it's really worth getting. RAW 2 was OK, but WM21 is going to have to be significantly better for me to drop 50 bucks on it.

I don't think it's the lack of available talent. It's the fact that WWE often doesn't do much with a lot of these guys after they get past OVW. Yeah, they are pushing Batista and Cena hard, but who else? It's not that there is a big lack of bodies in WWE, it's a lack of people getting a good, focused, push.

Most of the backyard spots were just brutal. I laughed seeing the guy in the gorilla suit completely miss the table on that swanton bomb and land flat on the ground. Looked like that probably hurt a lot.

I remember a WCW PPV...I think it was WrestleWar '91 where Bobby Eaton comes out and gets these huge "BOBBY! BOBBY!" chants.

I would mark out to see someone do the Iron Claw, or give someone a Heart Punch.

"and 5000 smarks would say " Oh god I'm cumming" LMAO...That's what I almost said when I read this.

Live from Saitama, It's Velociday Night!
Dobbs 3K replied to RavishingRickRudo's topic in The WWE Folder
Guys...hate to break it to you, but most WWE fans don't care about London or Akio. That's why they don't make a big deal about it on Smackdown. Yeah, they could start pushing them, promote Velocity, blah blah blah...but it's not going to happen. And why would they have a ladder match at WM? Neither of them hold a title...and WWE isn't going to waste time at Wrestlemania on a low card match like that. -
"We would find out later in the show, in an angle run by countless promoters countless times, that Page had slashed Badd's tires and as a result, he missed his opportunity." I remember a couple years ago watching a tape of old Florida wrestling stuff and being surprised to see an angle with the Freebirds and Austin Idol that involved the same exact thing.

I was surprised. I thought Luther's promo was really good, actually. He actually made me care somewhat about his character. Maybe I won't think of him as Horshu anymore.

My understanding is that the WWE wasn't actively trying to get cable companies to carry this. They are relying more on the fans to bug the cable companies to carry it for them. A rather lousy strategy, IMO, but that's how it is. It is probably going to be a good year or so before WWE 24/7 is more widely available.

North Korea says they have Nuclear Weapons
Dobbs 3K replied to UZI Suicide's topic in Current Events
Well, if anything, China needs to step in and make sure North Korea doesn't get out of control, since China is basically the DPRK's only ally in the world. Hopefully the US can work with China and the other Asian powers to make sure things don't get out of hand. -
How about that Angle/Misterio match? I thought it was pretty amazing, personally. Hopefully they get serious about making Misterio a main eventer sooner, rather than later.

I think that if people like Bob Orton and Nikolai Volkoff are going to be in, the Warrior should be in, too. Warrior was an IC and World Champ, and like it or not, was a pretty big deal in his first WWF run. He was the only guy to really beat Hogan cleanly (up to that point). Dunno if he'll ever agree to it though, since he probably hates Vince.
-
Hulk Hogan. I liked Hogan as a kid. He was never my favorite though...actually, my first "favorite" wrestler was Brutus "the Barber" Beefcake, for some reason. Anyway, I never cared for the Warrior that much. I guess I thought his style in the ring was kind of cool, but I HATED his promos. I would actually change the channel when his interviews would come on. I didn't understand why he would always be looking at his hands when he was talking, and I thought his way of talking was freakish. I think even then I figured he was a nutcase.

See...this is why I don't get why WWE pushed Rock into doing movies in the first place? Did they think he wasn't going to become such a big star? Or was it that he would somehow be able to juggle movies and wrestling? They got him into the position of being a name in Hollywood, and now he's not making money for them anymore.

Instead of arguing over whether or not Dynamite Kid should be inducted...maybe the WWE will induct the British Bulldogs as a tag team.

Maybe Flair is going to turn face against HHH?

One other thing that occured to me...his character never really grew up. He had a sort of "young punk" persona when he first turned heel in WWF, in like, 1995. His character was basically the same when he joined the nWo, and when he came to the WWF. You'd think at some point he would've developed into a more mature, veteran-type character, but it never happened. And he used the same moves basically the whole time (only real change was adding the X-Factor as a finisher).
-
That was it...he was just stale. It was just like "hey, it's X-Pac". That was the whole point of his character for his entire WWF run. It didn't matter if he was face or heel.

One thing people don't know is that Renegade worked for WCW for like 2 or 3 years after getting de-pushed. He was on WCW Saturday Night often and actually got halfway decent as a worker before WCW fired him as a cost cutting measure.

Yeah, I really don't want to see the NFL add any more teams at this point. I still can't believe they let two teams leave LA in the same year. That was insane. Anyone know which teams could realistically re-locate to LA?

What people don't understand about Japan in WW II is that the civilians had basically been brainwashed. They would have fought to the death because their emperor (or at least the military) was telling them to. If the US had mounted a full invasion, they would have had to kill hundreds of thousands (or even millions) of men, women, and even children. US casualties would have been huge. So dropping the two atomic bombs saved many more lives in the long run. Anyone who can't understand that is an idiot.

I would say he's on Hogan's level, if not even a little bigger. I'm pretty sure a lot of people in the mainstream have some idea who Steve Austin is. Plus, I could be wrong, but I think Austin actually drew more money than Hogan.
