Let's Talk About...Kevin Sullivan's run with the book in WCW i
Dobbs 3K replied to King Kamala's topic in General Wrestling
Yeah, I remember the thing with Funk's contract. WWF didn't make a big deal out of it due to respect for Terry Funk and the fact that they weren't going to do anything more with him anyway. I actually kind of thought the Maestro had some potential as a midcard level heel. He didn't seem as completely ridiculous as some of the character WCW had around that time. -
Maybe this should go in the ESPN thread, but I just saw on 1st & 10, one of the guys arguing that the Rays winning and being in first place "is not good for baseball." He admitted that baseball thrives more when the Red Sox, Yankees, Angels, etc. do well. Talk about being blatant.

Well, of course there's the issue that in places like here in Wisconsin, it's not realistic or healthy for a kid to walk or bike to school from like November through March, which means you still have to deal with roughly half the school year.

Another idiot to make all the rest of us Christians look like puritanical zealots who don't believe in dinosaurs.

Yeah. That NL Central race is starting to tighten up a bit.

Yeah...LBJ accomplished a lot for civil rights and other social issues. A lot of it was carried out from Kenned's policies, but he still accomplished it. I think Carter could have been a pretty good president at almost any other time in US history. He was just ill equipped to deal with the changing reality of the world, it seemed like.

Yes, you can be 100% certain that someone is guilty of murder, given enough evidence. No one has been wrongfully executed in the US (at least as far as having their sentence overturned afterwards) in the US in over 50 years. Modern evidence is pretty darn good at determining who was at the scene of a crime. I don't get how you can say that the state cannot determine who should die, but invidividuals basically have that right. I think that if someone willfully murders someone else, they are removing themselves from the boundaries of any civilized society, and we should then treat them as we would an animal that has killed a person. I always love the excuse of "Let's just put them in prison so they can be attacked and sodomized." So you're saying it's OK for convicts to carry out vigilante justice, but law abiding citizens should not have the same right? It's a ridiculous double standard, and not a real answer to criminal justice. I don't really get the flap over the Obama financing thing, and don't really care either. I just figure all politicians are going to get their money one way or another. It doesn't bother me too much how it happens. It's a reality of American politics. Anyway, no one is going to remember this thing about Obama choosing public financing in another couple weeks, so it doesn't matter.

I think some technically died in Iran (helicopter crash) under him, but I get your point.

Supporting the death penalty for child rapists isn't really a make-or-break election year issue. You're really reaching on this one.

That guy actually does look quite a bit like Steve Austin.

Supreme Court upholds the Right to Bear Arms

Yeah...as far as the home security thing, while I don't think citizens should be precluded from owning guns for such purposes, it's usually ignored that there are, you know, other ways to protect your home. It's the 21st century with home security systems and such. -
Which stances are you actually referring to here? Personally, no, I don't agree with all his stances. I just figure he represents a better chance to actually make positive changes in this country after the last eight years, more so than John McCain.
-
Yeah, but they didn't even do it the right way. (Assuming they were making a Nazi reference, and not some kind of Eastern good luck reference).

No face paint, or did it fall off during the match? I will give him credit, though, he looks like he's in really good shape. (insert steroid joke here) You almost wonder if TNA or WWE would bring him in for one more match if the price was right. Note, I am NOT advocating that.

So is WWE basically just trying to get JR to quit or what?

Gay marriage really shouldn't be a big issue this election year...most Americans aren't in favor of it, so really, what is the point of debating it right now? If states like California want to legalize it, fine. The TV crews can cover these "marriages" and the progressive liberals can get their warm happy fuzzy feelings while the rest of America continues living how they are. I do see the point about not having the death penalty for child rapists, so they aren't further encouraged to kill the child. That does make some sense. I just wish we'd just keep those people locked up permanently. Communities shouldn't have to deal with potential pedophiles moving into their community after being "rehabilitated."

You don't need to take the guns away...we need to do a better job punishing people who shouldn't have guns, and in many cases shouldn't be out in the streets, in the first place. -
Yeah, WCW didn't seem to hold their guys accountable for no showing...or maybe they were so seat of the pants that they would advertise guys without making sure they were booked for that date first.
-
Why? What is the benefit of letting someone like that live? I believe that if someone allows themselves to devolve to the level of an animal, they should very well be euthanized like a dangerous animal would be.

Link from Drudge: TIM RUSSERT DIES FROM APPARENT HEART ATTACK By CHARLES HURT New York Post June 13, 2008 -- "Tim Russert, NBC journalist and political heavyweight host of "Meet the Press," has died after collapsing at NBC's Washington news bureau, a source said. He was 58 years old. Russert, who rose from the inside world of politics where he was former New York Gov. Mario Cuomo's press secretary and one-time chief of staff to the late Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan, was able to successfully cross over to political journalism and rise to become one of its leading lights." Wow, really unexpected. I feel bad for his family.

I say this is a good thing. The Lawler/Ross combo has needed to be broken up for some time. JR and Foley should make a good tandem. Cole being paired with Lawler might force Jerry to change his act.

Mugabe Militia Hacks, Burns Alive Opposition Leader's Wife
Dobbs 3K replied to BX's topic in Current Events
Yep. Ultimately you'd think Great Britain and other Western nations would take responsibility for his atrocities. They're the ones that took the country away from Ian Smith's regime and handed it over to Mugabe. -
I seem to remember them doing an online only audio PPV on their website, around '97 or so. I think it basically bombed and that idea was dropped. And yes, that interview was pretty shocking for the time. I mean, when before had real names been referred to like that on any sort of WWF programming?

Metal Gear Solid 4 to feature much older Snake...
Dobbs 3K replied to Use Your Illusion's topic in Video Games
I may go buy a PS3 for this game. Will probably get the 80GB version that's bundled with it. I wasn't really even pining for a PS3 that much, but basically everyone else I know that plays video games has one...so, eh, why not? Wife said it was OK. I must be getting old...the wife says I can go out and buy a new video game system, and I'm like "Hmmm...I'm not sure if I should spend that much money right now on a video game system." -

Apparently the opposition leader is now withdrawing from the run off elections. So much for democracy in Zimbabwe.
