The only person who immediately comes to mind is John Edwards, but he has the losing stigma of the 2004 election on him. Evan Bayh's name has been mentioned before, but more in relation to Hillary Clinton than Obama. Other than that, I'm not sure. Theoretically, you would want to balance out the ticket. I guess that would mean an older white guy with a lot of experience, maybe from the South or Northeast part of the country. Not sure who in the Democratic Party would quite fit that mold, though, aside from obvious non-starters like the two senators from Massachusetts.

Well if Eminem is on the show, that would explain that whole rumor. This is presumably going to be a TV show? I can't imagine any major network really being that interested in this idea.

My understanding is that 1080i and 720p are the government set standards for HD. I really doubt you'll ever see broadcasts in 1080p. I could be wrong, though.

Yep, definitely agree with the last part of what you wrote. And yes, the Cuban government feeds their line about the US "starving the people" constantly. If you happen to have or have access to a shortwave radio, listen to Radio Havana in the evening. It's pretty entertaining to hear their spin.

Yeah. I liked how his stated goal was just to make the show the best as possible, and didn't really favor faces or heels. Then I guess the writers fell into their crutch "The GM has to try to screw the top babyface constantly" thing and it fell apart.

Well, the 1080p technology is techically newer. I don't think it has much to do with "the cost of manufacturing it." It's simply the fact that a 1080p set will give you a clearer and smoother (even if only slightly) picture than a 720p set. You may more for the higher quality picture. My guess is, like most technology, the cost of 1080p sets are gradually going to keep coming down. (Remember when plasma sets were around 8-10 grand for a 42"?) Wouldn't surprise me if eventually all sets are 1080p, as that seems to be what consumers are gravitating towards.

It's all about politics. There is a gigantic Cuban exile population in the Miami area (Florida) that hates Castro and wants the US embargo against Cuba to continue. Our politicians are too spineless to go against the will of a single voting block, so it continues even though it really doesn't make sense and just hurts the Cuban people actually living in Cuba.

Trade with the US would probably dramatically improve Cuba's economy. The place could become a gigantic tourist destination for US citizens.
