I wonder if someone in WWE is trying to get that nickname to stick ("Rainbow Haired Warrior") in an attempt to subtly bury Jeff Hardy somehow (and no, I'm not saying Triple H is that person). I mean, it's such an obviously bad idea it has to be some kind of joke or something. It's saying a lot when a nickname TNA comes up with for someone, "The Charismatic Enigma", is so much better than WWE's version. I don't see why people get annoyed with "The Glamazon" nickname for Beth Phoenix...it's a little contrived, but it fits her character and the way she's being pushed. Oh, and I don't care what anyone says, I like her entrance music, too.

The best thing about the Packers' run this year is that we haven't had to hear the endless "Is this Favre's last year?" talk like we did the past couple seasons. Personally, I figured they had an outside shot at the playoffs, but figured they'd end up with about 10 or 11 wins at most. I don't see how anyone can pick the Giants winning at Lambeau, though.

I have a ton of cards at home...I have every Topps set from like '88 through '95 or so, along with a couple other sets and several books full of cards. I have a few that are probably worth something in the 20-30 dollar range, but that's about it. Nothing really rare or spectacular. I figure I'll probably just hang on to them and pass them along if I ever have a kid. Kind of like my comic book collection (where I actually do have a couple worth something in the 50-100 dollar range, IIRC).

Jingus, I'm not disputing that a Japanese woman couldn't get over in the US. However, you reference the Jumping Bomb Angels, who were in the US almost 20 years ago. It was a different environment then...I mean, when most fans were used to the likes of Fabulous Moolah, it would have almost been impossible for the Angels to NOT get over with their superior in-ring work. It's a different time, now, though. If a Japanese woman came in and busted out some powerbombs and flying headscissors, fans would say "We've seen the divas in WWE do this stuff for years." I'm not saying TNA couldn't do it, but I'm pretty skeptical given the current environment and expectations from fans.

Well, other than that idea being totally unrealistic, I think you're in the vast minority. Most American wrestling fans don't give two craps about Japanese female wrestlers.

Come on, snuffbox. Turnbow's one apparent drug violation happened before he was even in MLB. Let it go. As far as the Cameron signing, I'm not a huge fan because of the 25 game suspension to start the '08 season. That said, I do like the idea of Hall moving back to 3B (I've always said he didn't really look comfortable in CF), and moving Braun, a defensive liability, to LF, should help the defense quite a bit. Now, it just remains to be seen if the Brewers deal any of their excess starting pitching. Otherwise, there's going to be a couple guys starting the year in AAA who don't really need to be there.

Bob Orton Jr. was actually quite the worker, pretty underrated. I actually saw him wrestle at an indy show in Milwaukee in '98, and he was still pretty decent in the ring for being such an old guy. -

Because the media always panders to women as being "victims", no matter what. -
Kucinich said that he isn't doing it for himself...he's doing it because there are supposedly reports there were discrepancies with ballots cast electronically, as opposed to ones that were hand counted, at least that is my understanding. As far as Hillary Clinton, this new pandering to illegal immigrants is going to backfire big time, I think. It's just a matter if Edwards or Obama call her on it, which I suppose is a little doubtful.

I don't think this is really logical. Unless they import a Japanese female wrestler who is extremely talented and charismatic, I don't see how brining in someone like that would draw anything for TNA. The women they have now are pretty much solid, and make for a decent women's division (which, as someone who is not even that interested in women's wrestling, is something to make me admit).

I do remember them being in a gymnasium. I specifically remember either Brooklyn Brawler or Barry Horowitz walking past a set of indoor bleachers on his way to the ring. -
Heh, I always figured he was some Power Plant goon who tried wrestling, then quit. I hadn't realized his career was quite that long.

I do remember seeing IWCCW on cable a couple times, at least. They had Atlas, like you mentioned. The big angle I remember them promoting at the time was a confrontation between Honky Tonk Man and Rick Rude, over who was the greatest Intercontinental Champion. Of course, the angle actually went nowhere, and the two never even had a match against each other in IWCCW. Even though I was only about 12 at the time, I could even tell the shows seemed really amateur, even compared to GWF at the time. -
When he finishes 3rd in South Carolina?

OK, fair enough. I still don't buy Iran's accusation that the US is just fabricating the entire thing, but whatever.

Wow, that's just terribly awful.

Czech was being annoying like this 2 and a half years ago. I was being annoyed by it too, quite frankly. My comment was actually referencing an old Onion article. I don't get your comment about "ALLOW CITIZENS TO DIE", though.

WWE General Discussion - January 2008
Dobbs 3K replied to Prophet of Mike Zagurski's topic in The WWE Folder
I hope so, cause I don't get USA or SciFi HD. Yeah me either. To be honest, I didn't even know there was a Sci-Fi HD channel 'til just now. We have Charter cable, and they're really slow to add new HD channels. Usually when they do add something, it's pretty niche, like the new Golf/Vs HD channel. -
Didn't see this discussed earlier, but basically some Iranian patrol boats made threatening movements towards some US ships a couple days ago: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/7175325.stm "I am coming at you. You will explode in a couple of minutes," the Iranians said in a radio transmission, according to US officials. Don't know why the US Navy didn't just shoot the hell out of them after that, but, whatever.

Come on New Hampshire, I don't want to see Hillary win in your state.

Yeah...there's a few little things like that which are kind of irritating about Fire Pro. Like, once in a while it would be nice to have your top title defended in a cage match, etc.

From what I saw of the first episode, none of the matches were really that actively bad (OK, the Patera match probably), but just kind of boring. -
I did point out in the chat how funny it was that no one was coming out to help Jericho by the time JBL had dragged him near the scaffolding. At least a couple refs could have run out, and JBL could have pushed them down, or something. That's one thing that WWE is pretty silly about...in the old days, if a babyface was getting beat on, at least a couple jobbers would come out at first and try to stop the heels, before finally some bigger names would run out and break things up. In modern WWE, heels just mercilessly beat the crap out of people for extended periods of time, while no one comes to help.

McCain is too embedded with Bush at this point to win a general election. People don't want any more of the GWB regime.
