Scotty gets kind of a nostalgia pop, sort of like Val Venis, or Godfather would get if he was still around. RAW X was indeed awful. The "highlights" of the show were Triple H mooning everyone, and then this fake insincere "thanks to the fans" ovation from the roster at the end. It was a nice sentiment, but it came off as lame. Also, they named Austin the RAW Superstar of the Decade (or something like that), and it was basically Vince bashing him since he wasn't there.

Well, that's the thing. There is no "freely available talent" typically at that level, so it's kind of a moot point.

Not sure if anyone mentioned this, but royals.com has pics of the Royals' new powder blue alternate jerseys. "It won't win them a championship, blah blah blah"...seriously, those look pretty neat. Very retro. I bet they sell quite a few.

That was my point, that they tried to get Sapp and apparently had big plans for him. Anyway, I am probably one of the few that is not all that excited for this upcoming RAW. Sure, I'll be watching, because I do every week, pretty much out of habit. It's just that it seems like WWE has done a ton of TV "specials" over the last couple years, especially on RAW. I can't really get excited about Austin, Foley, Hogan, etc. because they show up fairly regularly and don't do anything truly meaningful anymore. Yeah, it'll be nice to see a few like Sunny, Gunn, etc. I just think people are getting a little over-hyped about this show.

At least Gunn was able to parlay his knockout of Dr. Death into a successful run in All Japan. Anyway, that gets me thinking...is there any reason WWE hasn't tried to capitalize on the more recent success of UFC by introducing more shoot fighter style characters, or signing an established fighter? I know they tried with Bob Sapp, but it seems like there would be money to be made with tying into that market.

Severn actually was in the first round of the tournament...he won his match (can't remember against who), though he did seem to have a tough time fighting within the rules of the tournament. Then the following week they had that promo were he said some BS about "having nothing to prove".

Well, I understand the whole thing with Dr. Death and Jim Ross being his friend. I think it was a dumb idea to use a shoot tournament to try and get someone over (I mean, they had Dan Severn in it, for crying out loud), but it could have worked, possibly. I basically think the plan with Gunn was "OK, if he somehow manages to beat Butterbean, he'll be money. If he loses, like he probably will, it will be an easy reason to get rid of him."

I'll mark out for Bart Gunn. I could never figure out why WWF never did more with him after the Brawl for All. I think they had him fight Butterbean just for an excuse to let him go when he lost.

I don't think the Brewers had really been considering Turnbow as a closer for 2008. All this talk from Melvin has just been another bluff.

Gagne was of course once one of the best closers in the game, but he didn't exactly light the world on fire with Boston at the end of last season. Milwaukee seems to be taking a "the more, the merrier" approach with their bullpen right now, having just signed David Riske and then trading for Salomon Torres yesterday.

TNA has nothing to brag about. They pulled in their same usual rating they do every single week.

Well, Senshi is a talent, but him leaving doesn't matter. TNA didn't really do much with him when he was there, other than make him X Division champion, but he was basically forgotten after a month or so. I've said it before, but TNA is loaded with usable talent. If you had heard who would be in TNA now, three or four years ago, the average wrestling fan would have said "Wow, that sounds like an awesome wrestling fed." The problem is they just aren't doing good, compelling storylines. They aren't putting the whole package together into something you want to see, week after week.

The people who are mad at The Rock for no longer being in WWE should be much angrier at WWE for pushing him into movies in the first place. It was WWE's greed for mainstream exposure that led to Rock retiring from wrestling.

The segment sucked. Totally and completely. Kennedy doesn't have the kind of charisma or talent to carry a segment like that, which was a bad idea to begin with.

I would like to see where he actually said that. O'Reilly has been on the anti-oil company thing for a while now. I know he talked about "sponrsoring" a "don't buy any gas day", but I don't think anything ever happened there.
