Heard a report that said Favre actually did ask the Jets for his release, which they refused. I think he's done for good. He'll still be remembered as one of the best of all time, but I think it would be good for him to lay low for about a year, and then the following season he can come to Green Bay so they can do the number retirement schtick. Maybe after that he can ease his way into a coaching job or something. This past season proved he just doesn't have it anymore to be a starting quarterback.

Nice signing, and somewhat surprising, for the Nationals to get Dunn. I knew they were pursuing him, I just figured he would end up elsewhere. This move is going to give them some credibility, and I'd look for them to flip some of their excess players in a trade sooner than later.

Well, the problem is that they have a ton riding on a couple of young guys, in Yovani Gallardo and Manny Parra. Neither of them have ever pitched 200 innings in a season, so it's asking a lot for them to anchor the rotation. I think the Brewers hope they can make it to like July and still be in contention, and then make another starting pitching acquisition like last year, if needed.

I'll give WCW credit, the Mongo angle was actually pretty well done, regardless of if they were ripping off past angles. Honestly, the heel hitting on the face's wife or girlfriend is probably older than the Roberts/Rude angle. Of course Mongo ended up being a crappy worker, but that's beside the point.

Looks like the Brewers are signing Braden Looper after all. Thank goodness, because they desperately need some pitching depth.

I noticed the posted Dusty pick makes him look more like his classic NWA appearance. I think at his one Wrestlemania appearance, he already had the polka dot look, didn't he? Hopefully guys will have more than one outfit, though.

I've been playing through the game again as an evil character...I found the Oasis, and afterwards got Linden's Power Armor. Only downside is that I of course can't use it...is there any way to get power armor training before being allowed into the citadel?

How about TNT? I remember in the early 90s when our family first got cable, I would watch that all the time. It seemed like they would show good movies you would actually want to watch. Now it's basically just the NBA channel on cable. I can't remember the last time I watched that station. Probably since Nitro went off the air, I'd guess.

MLB 09: The Show demo is up on PSN. I DLed it, and it's pretty awesome (I'm used to the PS2 versions). I played through it, and it's fun, but I'm pretty rusty. I found the pitching to be pretty challenging for some reason.

Yeah, I was just thinking Bundy really should be in the game if they are going to include a cage, because I believe WM2 was the only time they ever had a cage match at at a Wrestlemania. Why are they being so secretive with the roster anyway? Doesn't the game come out in about a month and a half? I guess it's an OK gimmick to build anticipation, though. As far as the gameplay video, I guess I don't mind the limited moves...I'd rather have that than have them go the LoW route and have Andre busting out stone cold stunners and spinning chokeslam powerbombs and crap. Seeing Hogan do a side Russian legsweep is pretty weird, though.

Weren't they already kind of fazing Terry Funk out by that point? I don't think he was in the promotion much longer after the Bradshaw turn. I'm guessing they figured Funk/Bradshaw and Scorpio/Faarooq were just more "logical" as tag teams, even though both were just kind of temporary things to give the guys involved something to do. Bradshaw in particular really was aimless until the Acolytes thing started. Remember when he was even teaming with Taka Michinoku for a while?

Yeah, ditto. I had a vague familiarity with Hawk and Animal because some friends had their AWA figures and I'd seen them on magazine covers and stuff, but didn't get WCW until about '91 or so. I always thought Demolition were awesome. As a side question, how come WWF didn't stick with the make shift tandem of Animal and Crush, and at least get them on TV? I would think they could have gotten a good 6 months to a year of mileage out of them doing a program with some heel team.

Yeah, I don't see what the big deal is. Just one of those things getting blown up by wrestling sites on a slow news day.

I can't wait to see him get treated like Bonds, with people booing the hell out of him and throwing needles onto the field and stuff. It's going to be entertaining.
