So, how many tickets did you buy?

Bonds is an amazing player, but he's a total jerk as a person, and I'm not going to like him just because he's hit a lot of dingers. He hasn't been through one-hundredth of the crap Hank Aaron had to go through while going for Ruth's record. The steroid factor doesn't have much to do with it for me.

Wes Helms? (Former Brewers 3B now playing for the Phillies)
-
Oh my, I've actually had Steel Reserve before. Bought a couple cans sort of as a joke when we were at a gas station way up in Northern Wisconsin (they also had big cases of Hamm's, which I've never actually seen for sale before). The stuff tastes like paint thinner.

Well, technically there would still be 1/8th left, which I believe is Barry Bonds' forehead.

was watching the game live and went absolutely bonkers =o) Easily the greatest player of his generation ... the Mickey Mantle of this era Its times like this where we Yankee fans have to thank big George for giving us such a wonderful player and an amazing team Plus hearing him talk in the postgame was soo emotional ... there is no way he will leave in the offseason ... he will sign an extension and stay a yankee forever and win some titles !!! I cant wait to watch my yankees when they come to detroit later this month ... me and my buddies got our tickets and gonna be there early trying to get autographs from the yankee players heres a link to download the homerun if you missed it today Yeesh, are you for real?

I'd try posting on www.lambeauleap.net . They have a fan forum where I'm sure someone could help you out.

BREWERS beat the Phillies 6-5 in a HUGE comeback win. Prince Fielder hit a big two run bomb to give the Brewers the lead, and Corey Hart made a leaping catch to deny a homer in the bottom of the 9th that would have tied the game. Nice win.

The Brewers re-take first place in the NL Central by beating the Phillies 2-1, while the Cubs lost to the Mets earlier today. Let the speculation about that dugout argument igniting the Crew begin. On a side note, I don't think it was mentioned earlier in this thread, that Ryan Braun was named the July NL Rookie of the Month and Player of the Month...the first time ever that the same person has won both awards in a month. I told you all this guy was good.

Yeah, that article that 10 Pounds linked to even mentions Benoit by name in the first paragraph. Give it a break already, it's not that funny a joke.

Again "bury/burial", one of the most overused phrases by wrestling fans online.
-
Hmmm...I think you just hit it right there, with the whole "Strikes Back" phrasing. Vince is going to piss all over the media on Monday Night, I'm guessing.

Well, it sounds like they have money and are living well (7000 sq. ft. house), so I don't see a big problem. It would be different if the father was jobless, and they were living in a slum apartment or something. Big families used to be much more common in the US, as most of you probably are forgetting. My dad is one of thirteen kids...but that was pretty common with farm families back in the day. Cheap labor and all.

My guess is that they might briefly mention the limo incident, or allude to it, but that's about it. You know, McMahon comes out and says "Well, I'm back from my little vacation", or something like that.

The problem is that if they booked Punk as a heel, his act is so unique he'd still get cheered...he'd basically be the 2007 version of "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. I don't know if that's a good or bad thing, but I don't think that's where they want to go with him. Frankly, I think the "slow burn" type push they're giving him now is a good thing. When he finally wins the ECW Title, it will actually mean something, rather than just hot-shotting it onto him. Maybe a heel stable or group isn't the answer, but they need to do something different. Maybe they could turn Cena heel, but I doubt they want their top draw and merchandise seller getting booed. I guess that's why I go back to the Four Horsemen type concept. Maybe do a group like that, but make it bigger and have it stretch across all three brands. Make Randy Orton the leader (I know, they probably can't trust him with something like that right now), and have him talk about how it's time for the guys of his generation and mentality to take over the company. They're sick of playing by the rules the McMahons laid out, and want to take control of the company. Have Shane try to stop them, and get taken out. Hell, have them stretcher out Coach and Teddy Long. They could feud with Cena, HBK, Triple H, Undertaker, Dreamer, Punk, Lashley, Batista, etc. Play up that it's the guys who respect WWE and what Vince McMahon built, versus the guys that want to take over and change it into their vision. That type of storyline could be stretched out for well over a year, and consist of a ton of different match ups. Then again, they'd probably end up screwing it up, just like the Alliance angle.
-
So yeah, we have a tie for first place in the NL Central. I hate the fact that it's the Cubs tied with my Brewers, but it does make for exciting baseball.
-
So yeah...I remember a certain someone on this board mouthing off about where the Brewers would be in August, way back in April...

U.S. trying to sell arms to Saudi Arabia

"We're going to fight Al-Qaeda by arming the nations that are only secretly supporting them." -
See, that's exactly it. Other than DX (which was just a tag team essentially) and Evolution, when's the last time WWE has had a real stable? The Alliance, maybe? They have all these heels not doing much...Kennedy, Carlito, Orton, King Booker, William Regla, just to name a few, and that's just on RAW. Why not do a slow angle where they start working together, and eventually form a group to get rid of John Cena and take over the WWE? It's not rocket science.
-
Basically, some people nailed it on the head here. Watching RAW now basically is the same as back in 2002 or so...nothing has really changed on RAW in the last five years, other than the theme song. They really need to shake up the look of the set and the whole show in general, more so than a superficial change to the border under the Titantron or whatever. Maybe change to one of those ramps that goes all the way to the ring, change the color scheme and look of the ring, etc. Just make it so that I can tell I'm watching the show in 2007 and not half a decade ago. WWE needs a big new storyline in general. They almost had something going with Vince's limo explosion, and that ended due to circumstances beyond their control. They really need some kind of angle to shake things up, besides "Cena overcomes the odds, and the heel GM throws obstacles in the way." Maybe a new Four Horsemen/nWo type group to run roughshod over all three shows, or something like that. We could go on and on about needing new writers, or making title belts mean something, etc. Really, those two things above would get me a lot more excited about watching WWE, which I'm only watching out of habit at this point.

Yeah, it's funny how little crowd reaction his appearance seemed to get, or at least it was very mixed.

What was your first Exposure to Wrestling
Dobbs 3K replied to edgehead69's topic in General Wrestling
Same here. I really miss WCW Saturday Night, and having the option to watch it for a couple hours in the evening on Saturdays when there's not much going on 'til later. -
I actually don't mind Cody's tights. At least they stand out and don't look ridiculous. Plus, he seems to have the Ric Flair thing going with the kneepads.
-
Orton vs Sarge...gee, wonder who's gonna win this one. Probably the same one who won last time. Look at the depth of Monday Night RAW...two stars of the '80s wrestling on the same show tonight!

Would someone please kill the Coach already?
